In 1967, a mate and I were cycling from Mid-Cheshire to Otley over the A62 moor road when a massive M62 dump-truck crossed on a haul road, literally as big as a house. Made a lasting impression!
@hugoagogo9435 You're thinking of Pikeys, not Paddys...Same Paddys that built London and practically most of America...FYI, the most iconic building on the planet was designed and built by Paddys...Ur probably British to make a rtrded comment like that from an Empire that stole absolutely everything from the irish and exported it...Ya know, people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones!!!
Brilliant video and very rare footage. The people here got the job done without worrying about pronouns. I think a lot of beautiful and well built Victorian buildings were demolished in haste during this time but the road construction, planning and quality certainly achieved its aim.
Remember the last phase very late 60s early 1970s & the demolition of MANY beautiful 1920s/30s Semis & detached houses at the end of the now M62 . Homes through Bowring Park - Broadgreen - Edge lane Liverpool .
In the days of Big Geordie my grandfather stopping the lorry we were in n carrying me across the carriageway to see the beast that was the biggest excavator in Britain then circa 1973
