My 2 cents on the fire pit, have a food only one.Preferably welded metal with a grate that raises and a damper to help it get going.Basically I see you creating a whole outdoor kitchen in time.Wood fired pizza anyone? Hi Gracie Grace !
Cory, please keep the patio/firepit, it adds such great character to the cabin. Your progress is absolutely amazing and love how you "think through" the challenges that arise. Your experience and knowledge always seem to shine through. God has blessed you with a calmness yet unyielding desire which is so admirable for a young man. Peace, and God bless you
So nice to see your progress - physically and site-wise . The time-lapse belies you "taking it easy" !!! The amount of work you do , on a daily basis is astounding ! Glad to see you are respecting your limits , to speed healing , and being thoughtful about the next tasks at hand . Thank you for including us , your prayerful supporters ...Bless you , Cory ...and Gracie , too !
Cory , I really enjoy your work and ethics, love Gracie too , keep up the hard work, God put you there with the blue house for a reason, everyone knows how beautiful your going to make that place, you'll Rock it !!!!
I think you are doing a great job. Just take your time and you will get it all done. Don't rush because that is when you make mistakes. It is looking good. God Bless you and enjoy your life. It is precious.❤❤❤❤❤
I've been doing that kind of work for 40 years. You're on the right track. I would replace the 6x6 with laminated beams or steal. I wish i could help you but I'm way over the hill. You need a couple more jacks.
Everything will come together, sometimes the hardest projects provide the greatest rewards. I've been DIY-ing a small cottage in the VA Mtns for several years, on a tight budget...little by little is all you can do. Gracie reminds me of my black lab Faith, she passed a few years ago and is dearly missed. You both be well, don't stop believing.
Looking good. The best way to do anything is to earn it. You are definitely doing that. Knowing what it takes to make something seems to go a long way with someone also taking care of what they made or worked on. Someone who just buys something all perfect or inherits something just doesn't know how to take care of things for the most part. There are always exceptions to any rule. You always do a great job. Cant wait to see the finished project.
Thanks Shane, I was looking for a project and I definitely got it with this one, didn’t want something turn key. It’s all good and very rewarding, come visit us sometime
Found this channel today. Watched just about every video. Was hooked to find out he uploaded another even though there was a post just two days ago. Love the drive my man. Keep that up!
That little bridge didn't move at all as your truck drove over it, great shot Cory! Hang in there as you get healthier, the cabin/house site looks a million times better!
Cory it looks great what you are doing. If I may say with with any renovation you always run into unforeseen problems. God Bless you with patience and energy to keep going. Prayers are with you keeping you on your healthy way.
Cory, you are making a difference with the cabin and when it is all said and done, it will be perfect. All the site clearing and cleaning of the area is really making a difference. With God's guidance and His Mercy and Grace, you will persevere victoriously! Always go to His word and He will lead you to victory!!
For your fire pit, using very fine limestone would be good for grout but sand would look very nice also. For the fire pit itself using stone from the river in a built up circle would look great. Dry stack them to your desired height and I would use some rebar strategically inserted around the circle horizontally to extend into the pit so that you could place a grill disc on. If you don't like that idea lol here is another... build the pit with the stacked stones and get a tripod to go over it. So many ways that you could do it and I know that whatever you do, it will look fantastic!
You must be building up your strength, goodness . . looking forward to more foundation work. videos I just watched an American explorer stuck in a Turkish Cave 3000 ft down a twisting narrow path that will be difficult for him, because of his internal bleeding. He is being rescued because of internal bleeding has left him so weak. I thought of you twisting and turning under that cabin, I hope you let your doctor in on what you are up to. Maybe that twisting and turning isn't good for your insides, either. I know I'm not your mother- but
The ting is Corry, we know you will do it because we have seen your dedication and focus in action before. You are having to learn about pace as you cope with the physical limitations and your rest and steady work rate are so critical to maintain. You still get through far more than most of us would in a day! I love your methodical, tidy and thorough approach and maybe this is also to do with your daily bible-reading as the Lord picks up the unneeded, unwanted stuff from your life and 'burns' it. Love your videos and your whole approach - thank you for sharing with us.
Looking good! Keep moving forward and the best way to do any job is to clean as you go. Most veterans are like that. I know that I am! 😊looking forward to the next video.
I've always fancied a round firepit with a table edge around it. I believe you can have a grill top or just your fire. You're doing great and whatever you do will be fine as long as it meets your needs.
I'm knocked out by all the progress you're making Cory. I imagine it's harder for you to see being right in the middle of it, but believe me, it's impressive. Be kind to yourself, and take time to let your body continue healing. John
I wish I could loan you my water level. I have used it many times doing the kind of work you are doing on the foundation. It is an ancient and effective technology. I am sure you have your own ways. Keep up the good work, brother!
Cory, you are so impressive, your construction knowledge on top of your nature knowledge and seemingly endless knowledge about everything. All the cabin restoration work you have done for others and now one that is yours giving you the greatest challenges. I realize you are a determined man and you will succeed here. Take good care of yourself and Gracie, please.
lol...everything is more involved than you think - every time! Now maybe I missed it but did you figure out the mildew smell? My guess was they built it too close to the ground so it didn't enough ventilation and they probably used osb board. I've seen that a few times...when it gets wet and rots it really stinks.
Every time! I believe it’s from the floor, the old floor planks were lie you said and instead of removing them and replacing them with new floor, osb plywood was slapped down on top of it
Vai dar muito trabalho mas pense que vai ficar como vc quer e é vc que esta arrumando a sua maneira e gosto, não desanime, obrigada por compartilhar, uma coisa de cada vez vc consegue, até o próximo video

Cory, Luke 6:48 KJV- "He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock." Once you have the cabin on a firm foundation, just like our lives, it will all be forward progress from then on. That doesn't mean you (we) won't have trials and hard times, but we will be overcomers and our goal will be reached. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
Cory, keep up the good fight! Psalm 1:1-6 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish
Be careful. Wear hearing protection and chaps when using the chainsaw. I’m 74 and I’ve lost much of my hearing due to using a chain saw without hearing protection. If you have an accident with the chainsaw you are a long way from medical help.
