@@Bloody.3v sick, how do you like yours? Have you got much done to it? I definitely feel like 3v content in general is lacking on here. Thanks for watching dude!
@@LooseFab i love mine! This Is the second 3v i have owned and definitely my favorite Mustang I’ve owned. I have full BMR suspension front/rear, whiteline sway bars, SR perf coil overs and just regular bolt ons. Next is cams, I would love to take mine to an auto cross event to see how it does. Looking forward to more videos!
@@Bloody.3v autocross is a ton of fun and very low risk, I definitely recommend it if you get a chance! I bet your car would be an animal with all those handling upgrades. I'm loving the 3v too, honestly want to get another one to keep stock-ish for a nice street car lol!
@@LooseFab well unfortunately I need to rebuild the motor. Bought it and she had a hard life. Once it is running again I’ll probably start doing paint repair.
Possibly unpopular opinion but caliper covers looks soooo bad. Not jist on a mustang but on any car. It looks out of place. I paid 100 bucks for caliper paint and wire brushes and painted my calipers and it looks wayy better and it was cheaper.
@@mutjny thanks dude! A set of cams is definitely on the list, even for just the noise! Hard to beat the sound of a cammed 3v. Anything else worth doing if Im tackling the cams?
@@salsavillo9146 I don't mind the cowl hoods but this is definitely my favourite spec too. I love the flat trunk. Have you done anything to your 07 or just enjoying it as is?
Some BC's an MGW shifter, watts link and cosmetic stuff like I replaced the pedestal wing for the gt500 wing because it has the holes drilled in it and I have no idea how I would fill them and make it look clean. But I drove around for a couple days without a wing and fell in love with the look. No power adders yet tho, just got it in January
I love the MGW, it's awesome how you can adjust the throw and it makes the 2-3 shift effortless. The BC's are great, although I went straight from stock so I don't have much to compare them to. I also got a Ford racing finned diff cover so I could run a temp gauge to my Banks Idash. You have to drill out the sensor location tho, it's blocked off on the inside and it's m10x1.5 which is odd but once all pieced together it's nice to have
@@salsavillo9146 dang a diff temp sensor would be super nice to have! I'm in the same boat, I got feals but I have nothing to compare them to. My old Datsun and my ae86 had cut and weld coilovers which weren't anything to write home about lol
I bought one a month ago, I’ve slid it a few times on “accident” already! Super fun cars. I used to have a Lexus IS250, it was a fun car but it had no potential and it was automatic with an open differential. The 3v feels very powerful to me coming from that Lexus, and the manual gives me so much more control than I had over the Lexus. I’ve got an exhaust on the Mustang already and tint. Stoked to get it to the point I want it to be, considering making a few videos on it as well.
That's awesome man, glad to hear you're loving it so far! I know what you mean, I came from an ae86 so this thing feels crazy powerful compared to that! They're super fun. I have some videos out now taking this one to the track if you're interested, it's an animal. What are the plans for yours?
@@LooseFab I’ve watched your videos in order since you picked up the car. I’m always trying to find new content on these cars, all the content creators for this platform were posting videos like 6 years ago! Not much for recently builds or information out there. Also my plans for the car are just a simple clean street/show car. A nice set of wheels and coils. It’s already tinted. GT/CS front bumper, duck bill, Vectors. Short throw shifter, audio system install… And then drive it around in the summer and park it at shows. I just want to keep it nice for as long as possible.
@@joshc9846 I appreciate it man, hope you enjoyed! I agree, after I bought the car I realized that there wasn't a ton of content to watch on these things! Tbh I'm jealous, I have no regrets building this but it definitely isn't street driveable anymore. I really want another one (or maybe a different Gen?) to just keep nice and enjoy in the summer. Not sure if having two of the same car would be great for content though lol! Feel like I'd be better to switch it up
@@LooseFab For sure brother. I made the mistake with my old Lexus of trying to make it all drifty, sliding it everywhere.. I never wrecked it but after years of just treating it as a tool to beat on, it wasn’t in tip top shape anymore and I lost a sense of pride in it.. I don’t want to repeat that with this car. Hopefully in 20 years this thing will be sitting in my (future) shop, waiting for my (future) son to learn to drive a manual .. I want to buy a truck as well so I’m not driving this thing around all day. People can say what they want about S197’s being a dime a dozen, so long as they keep up that mentality they won’t be a dime a dozen much longer… They’re almost old enough to be classics. I think a well taken care of and tastefully street modded car is the way to go. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure you’re having much more fun than I’m having with mine, I don’t baby my car but it will probably also never see a drift course…
@@joshc9846 haha I might be having more fun but I won't be having fun for as long as you. If you take good care of yours I'm sure I'll get to see all those dreams to fruition! Like you know with your Lexus, drift cars don't live long happy lives lol. I'd definitely like to get another one while they're still a dime a dozen, it's a ton of car for the money and they're one of the best looking mustangs imo
@@preston8958 thanks dude! This is my first "modern" muscle car and I love it. Funny, I would love to get myself a 2v next! I guess we have similar taste lol. Thanks for watching!
Love the s197 fantastic platform. These cars can be built for any motorsport, and be driven to the track and back no issue. They get a bad rep because the doctor is a few years newer and makes more power stock for stock but naaam
@@MrInstinctGamer heck yeah! I asked on some Ford specialty groups and they said this would be an awesome platform to start with, I'm stoked. I'm used to driving older stuff so having such a modern, stiff chassis is going to be so fun. Thanks for watching dude!
Looking forward to this build series. I recently purchased an SN95 drift car myself. I’m coming out of a 350z HR so I’m nervous to see how the chassis differs.
@@rydazim thanks dude! I love the new edge body style but this one came up for a smoking deal so I couldn't pass it up! I'm eager to hear how you like the mustang coming from a z!
@@sanderb2668 easiest fix ever lol! Sounds like exactly what mine was doing. Would yours also play AM radio at full blast every time you turned the key on? That got old fast!
I had definitely been considering it! I have a buddy with a new edge and he upgraded to 4.10s and finds that they are a bit too short for the tracks we drive.. Do you think 3.73s would be a good compromise?
I've been into several 8.8s to weld them and never had the cross pin bolt break. Hope you replaced the axel bearings and seals while you had it apart. Looks like a promising start to a build.
Hey thanks for watching. I had no idea the pin would turn into such a headache! The car is pretty low mileage so I didn't do the bearings/seals, do you think I still should've?
@LooseFab they are cheap enough and easy when you have the diff opened up anyways. But as long as there isn't any excessive play or leaking at the wheel end you should be ok.
@@GrandOnevia hahah no kidding! I was so ready to be done with that rear diff, I was sick of looking at it! I was at my wits end by the time that job was finished and I thought it would just take a few hours lol!
I love seeing 3v content. I have an 06 GT convertible. The guy I bought it from wanted to make it a drift car but ended up not doing it. I think the suspension on it came off of another 3v built for drifting but I’m not 100% sure
@@whuttontarnation2484 super cool! Always nice when you can get into a car that's already had some work done to it! Do you have any future plans for the car? Any idea what make the suspension is?
@@LooseFab I’m not sure the make of the suspension but I can try to take a look. All I know is it was on the brother of the PO’s car and then when that car got wrecked they swapped it. It handles pretty good too, or at least a lot better than my F150 😂. Right now the plan is to clean it up. Replace the back bumper, he passenger side mounts for it, maybe replace the front bumper, put some new tires (maybe wheels it just depends) on it. I’m getting married soon and am trying to have the car looking sharp for that. Beyond that I’d kind of like to put a cage in it for extra rollover protection and so I can do some events if I ever want to, some hot rod cams or something similar, and maybe a super charger of some type down the line. I’ve also found some shaker hoods for sale for it and I’d kinda like to get one if possible but I’m not sure it’s in the cards financially right now on top of the other stuff that the car needs
@@whuttontarnation2484 sounds like you have some great plans for the car! And congrats on getting hitched! I'd love to see some pics of the car when it's all done!
Oh man, I have been getting water in the cab and I have been losing my mind trying to figure out how it's been getting in! Thank you so much for this tip, gonna go check that right now!
@@LooseFabi need a new tranny since when I bought mine from auction didn’t have one (it was under mechanical damage) I’m tryna go to 300HP at least and make it just really good looking. Im watching your series rn. Really want to make vids like u. Ims start recording it soon
@@mustang91 I should've done that while I had it apart lol! I have some friends sith sn95 that I drift with, they went to 4.10 and found them to be just a little too short. Ended up with them having to ride the limiter a little too much. I do think I have longer transmissions gears so maybe it wouldn't be so bad for me, but I'm hoping the 3.55s are enough to get down for now! Thanks for watching
@@seedeebun haha the poor 110 MIG was tapped out! I have a 220 tig but didn't think I'd be able to get a good weld with the tig welder lol. More amps definitely would've helped!
@LooseFab exactly right, an 06 GT. I have over 10k in parts sitting around for a restomod. I have toddlers, so it'll be an extremely slow build whenever I can get to it, haha
@LooseFab it's dark blue. Someday I'll repaint it red though. Phase 1 is replacing/upgrading all parts involved with suspension, drivetrain, brakes, wheels, bracing, and underbelly repaint/refinish. All major parts are just waiting for me in boxes, I HOPE I can begin this summer. Needless to say, I'm crazy to even consider the amount of labor involved (I have past experience in such a project though).
Wonder if cutting on the diff, to get that pin out affected the integrity of it at all? Hopefully that rearend doesn't grenade on ya at launch on your first pass, lol
I was honestly quite worried about that exact thing happening lol! Especially because I was an idiot and cut the wrong side to start with. But I can confirm the diff holds up great, I have really beat on it already! (track vid is up on Sunday btw)
Good questions, I should have mentioned that in the video. Car has 110,000km (60,000 miles). Seller was asking 10k and I managed to talk him down to 8k ($5,800 USD). Definitely not a pristine example but I wasn't looking for a perfect one. Thanks for watching
Doing a build this quick was a first for me. I actually had to sell a different project (my ae86) which was a sad day, but it allowed me to ball out on a lot of parts all at once. I'd make a list of all the parts you want for your car, and maybe break it up into 'phases'. might be easier to decide what to buy and when!
I love my 3v but even with a tune, cams, cold air intake, long tubes, and straight pipe, you will still be under 350whp lol coming from a guy with a 600whp 3v
@@erron2504 exactly! Clutch packs in an LSD can wear out, and in drift they are unpredictable. If you slow down mid drift quite often they will unlock and behave like an open diff would. The right way would be to run a full spool in this car but I didn't want to have to mess with the gear backlash, so I just went the welding route. Good question and thanks for watching!
Good question! Limited slip diffs are really unpredictable when drifting. They usually lock up properly when you initiate a drift, but if you change your speed at all mid drift they tend to unlock and act like an open diff, causing you to straighten. This makes it predictable and stay locked 100% of the time. Thanks for watching!
I have a video talking about them as well as the whole suspension setup on the car if you haven't seen it! The new wheels are 18x9.5 +22 and they fit perfect Imo. Thanks for watching
@@ThatLoud3v oh sick I bet that sounds rowdy! Is it too loud or you happy with the sound? I was debating doing some muffler deletes with stainless tips on this one
@@dakotajones8010 thanks dude! I coming from a 4 cylinder drift car so even a 3v is like triple the horsepower lol. Gonna be a bit of a learning curve when I take it to the track!
@@dakotajones8010 I am building a no prep drag car on my channel as well. Can't get behind street racing as that's why they keep cracking down on enthusiasts! Where I live they've been pulling plates left and right on modified cars lately!
these make what 265 wheel your not going to touch 350 wheel with out a cam long tubes and a tune u might break 320 with that that other shit that u have for it will do nothing to add power lmao
Issei383 is right 😅. Won't see 350whp. But the chassis is pretty light for the physical size, under 3500 lbs. 320whp is doable and easy. It's when trying to reach the 400whp range that it falls flat. We have various builds on youtube explaining this and more. Don't be discouraged. We are talking about great power for a drift daily.
I'm glad someone else addressed it. While these cars make super fun power they however will never make anywhere near 350 with factory drive train and factory tune, I have one with full system exhaust from pypes with FPR Intake and howards rattler cams. I'd be lucky if I was making 315 lol great build however will be subbing to watch more bro 🫡
