A good condition Wilson 1996 A-2 would still be a very nice pistol in 2023. Nearly all the information presented in this video is just as relevant today as when this video was made.

Contrary to much of today's modern run & gunners beliefs, the 1911 is absolutely still a very relevant carry firearm in 2023. A Wilson Combat built 1911 even more so! As an instructor and owner of a training academy I still daily a Wilson Combat Hackathon Special.

I heard about Bill Wilson back in the 70's as a 1911 Competitive Shooter during my time in CHICAGO in Law Enforcement. While working as a Plain Clothes Patrolman, as we were Known back then, one of my carry weapons was a Colt 1911 Government. I still have it and it has been retired along with me AFTER MANY YEARS OF SERVICE. But like KEN with his Weapon, I know I can take the OLD GIRL out of retiement and stake my life on her as I did in The PAST and it won't fail to function. A couple of years ago I got myself a Colt Series 80 1991 Government. The first one that got to shoot it before I did was my Grandson who had NEVER shot a real weaoon. He grew up shooting Call of Duty and Black Ops video games. Also Paint Ball. Well we went to our Bass Pro Shop and I'll tell you he had a blast with a Real 1911. He did fall in LOVE with a stainless Colt Commander that I've had for the past 15 years. I was very IMPRESSED with his shooting abilities. That Colt Commander will be his next year ( Sept. 2014 ) when he turns 21. But he doesn't know it. But what I was very IMPRESSED also was that I had 4 BILL WILSON COMBAT Stainless 8 Round Magazines. NOT ONE and I do MEAN, NOT ONE of Them jammed. I had one Pro Mag that constantly jammed. I was going to throw it away until I realized, hey I could keep it for Range Time to Train with. After leaving Bass Pro Shop I made a trip to my favorite Gun Shop LEE's to buy some More WILSON COMBAT 8 ROUND MAGAZINES. LEE only had 2 left during The BIG GUN SCARE Crises. I grabbed the 2 to add to the original 4 I had already bought from him. A few nights later this retired guy ( me ) that's behind the times was able to order 4 GREAT WILSON COMBAT MAGAZINES directly from BILL WILSON'S Company using my iPhone. I don't have much use for computers. But I can use an iPhone. JOHN the Customer Service Rep Email me to make sure I had received the items I had ordered. Well BILL WILSON you must already know you have a GREAT PRODUCT and a STAFF that takes care of your Customers. I only WISH I could have had your MAGAZINES while working some of the worst streets in CHICAGO. BUT I do still carry a 1911 with WILSON COMBAT 8 ROUND MAGAZINES and a couple of spare, just in case. By the way I did enjoy THE VIDEO and even though it was from 1997 I still learned a LOT. GOD BLESS and TAKE CARE, From a VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER!

Back in the Day I bought your 4 VHS tape set of your gunsmithing videos and it was very helpful particularly in fixing a very dangerous trigger condition that had been done on a Gold Cup by well known gunsmith back then as well as many other faults he left behind. I recognized the segment on the trigger maybe you could share the whole series on your channel.

ive got an old colt that was done up before their was any real after market parts available. alot of the upgrades wer crafted by hand witch is kinda amazing. everything honed and fitted to perfection, just like bill willson explains. and if you have a keen eye you might find one someday at the local gun shop that was mistaken for a no longer original mill surp and is priced at 300$ like mine was.

We see what the end product of what teams of major manufacturers' engineers and decades of production should have accomplished in the first place.
