I wound up ordering a 2022 scorpyd aculeus because it meets all the legal requirements for crossbow hunting in NY. Ordered it yesterday and so far I can say great customer service already.
Your reasons are why I've been shooting a Scorpyd Orion 160 for years. Little to no maintenance and dependability season after season, deer after deer.
I've always wanted one but can't afford the price but I did win a Excalibur micro 360 td pro and love it but still have a crush on the deathstaker 420🥰 someday we'll be together.

i keep going back and forth between the vortex you have and the HAWKE XB30 COMPACT 2-8 × 36 SR . i have a barnett DRT405 , FWIU it's a xp400 with a different paint job and i'll be using a 425 grain arrow/broadhead combination weight . you choosing the vortex certainly impacts my decision but being new to crossbows i keep thinking the 5 yard hashes on the hawke could be very useful ..... but what is your opinion on the 5 yard hash marks ? would/could it help a newbie like me ? or is it more advertising ? do you think i'd be happy with either or would you suggest one over the other for a new crossbow shooter . i will be hunting with it this coming 22/23 season and i have a range finder with angel compensation . thanks for sharing your experiences and take care dude , jeff
I’m looking to buy my first crossbow but I’m completely overwhelmed by the shear numbers of crossbows out there, I’m looking for one that will shoot at least 400fps for deer hunting in the northeast. Any recommendations?
Be careful if you’re in NY. They have a funny law about the bows size and poundage. They have to be at least 17” wide limb tip to tip and between 100-200lbs and I forget the length but it’s like 24” long maybe. And I think at least a 14” bolt. The first two are accurate second two could be slightly off.
Your Hero 380 kills them just as dead! The Deathstalker is great if you just enjoy shooting all of the time, fast to cock, it is dead in the hands at the shot and very quiet.
@@TheFieldArcher Been researching crossbows for a week, seen several of your review vids, really appreciate them very much bro. ..thinking of buying the Excalibur Micro 360 TD PRO but would like your honest opinion if this is really good Xbow for in it's price range? ..or do you have better option(s)? I'm 55yrs old was active up until 2011 when I broke my neck in 3 however I've made a full recovery and now want to start hunting every year for Deer, Elk, Bear ..and raccoons all year long and I live on the West Coast near the rain-forest so figured this type of Xbow would be great fro back-country, alpine country and clear cut hunting, what do you think>? I figured I'd buy a high end Xbow with the bells and whistles and if I end up not liking it at least I'll have top notch gear for sale. Thanks in advance for your opinion and great vids...hope to be posting my own soon. lol Btw, I found one in Canada for $1229 CDN

@@sbhjackson5931 I wouldn't have a problem to drive and try it first. It is a lot of money, so I would make a sure that I like it before purchasing it. And if you drive to try it, then you can get it right away and enjoy it. Good luck to you, sir!

You know good luck with that I would have thought you being a Crossbow reviewer you would know that that one has been one of the worst on the list as far as failures goes I live in Michigan and none of the archery shops there will carry that brand of crossbow because they have all blowed up good luck though man
Myself I would recommend for the money the Ravin r10 crossbow that as of right now is American made I would also recommend the mission crossbow that is American made I like the TenPoint Crossbows as well but I don't like the idea that they had to copy Raven to get what they've got and the mission crossbow the salt one or the sub-1 XR they both have a lifetime warranty all the rest of them are Chinese made and like my dad always told me you get what you pay for
I would go with the aluminum carbon carbon fibers pretty tough and light but I don't think the Mission crossbows or the Ravin crossbows are made out of carbon fiber
@@donwilson350 After ton of research and taking your advise into consideration, I am leaning to Mission Sub 1..... seems superb and reliable, easy maintenance. Any thoughts on this model?
