How much did the bucket seat cost alone, would you think? Assuming it came part of a bundle of some kind. I'd like to compare to the cost of a real car seat, that you can sit in and game for hours without feeling a thing. Could sleep in, honestly.

@@Sir.Craze- the specific bucket seat in the video is around $300 usd I’m pretty sure, what a lot of sim racers on a budget do is they go to a local scrapyard and grab a seat out of a real car for basically nothing

@@wilsonxci that's interesting! I asked my father because I was curious and for the one he gave me, if he was selling to someone for a car, he said 150 canadian. A used, mint condition, automotive chair would cost about the same as a bucket seat, 300. One that's in acceptable, not worn, but not "like new" condition 150. And as someone mentioned all manner of conditioned ones for nothing. I find it hard to believe a bucket seat is ever a better option when I assume a lot of people just wouldn't think about using a car seat. As, why would you think about used car sales in general most of the times anyways? The thought isn't Obvious, plus the racing seat seems more authentic. But we as sim racers want to be able to game comfortably without hurting our posture or muscles, not be strapped in solid in case of a crash. 🤔 I don't blame anyone for going with what's common, just find it interesting and am tempted to sell my own sim rig. And honestly would if it weren't such a niche market.

I love the recent surge in the sim racing scene. I just put together my first rig with a direct drive wheel and I'm blown away with how much of an upgrade it is over my old desk/swivel chair with g920 setup.

I was actually suprised how lacking the upgrade from my Thrustmaster T500 + TLCM pedals was to Fanatec GT DD 8NM with V1 pedals, I sold them after a week and got Logitech DD Wheel 10nm and Pedals set and that felt like an upgrade, specificly in Gran Turismo 7 and PSVR2. Haven't tried iracing, read on forums specificly that Gran Turismo has nerfed Force Feedback on other brands, so that could be the reason tho. Also Logitech G29 and G920 are gear based force feedback and going even to belt driven wheels feels like noticable step up.

I've been heavily into Sim racing lately. I went with an aluminum extrusion rig because I plan on building a actuator motion system and it offers a ton of expansion capabilities. Moza is a really good entry into direct drive wheels. They've really taken over the market lately another good option is Cammus racing they offer a 15nm DD base for 500$ but they don't have a lot of US distribution yet so depending where you live the shipping can be expensive. The Sim racing community is really awesome and has an amazing DIY community. I've been unable to drive for a few years due to a medical condition and really missed track days but Sim racing has given me back so much and honestly saved my life. I'd love to see more sim content!

I got a Mazda RX-8 seat from a junkyard and used that, in my rig. With a tiny pit of modification you can usually get any real world seat you like and use that.

Sim Racing is a perfect side hussle for PC hardware nerds. The rabbit hole goes really deep and there is a lot of research and learning required to come out with optimal setup. Actually the problem I have with some tech youtube creators (Linus one made me CRINGE so hard), those that can afford higher tier of gear out of the gate, is that they proclaim having an ultimate racing setup but then commit multiple fails due to lack of research and completely botch software side of it like proper angling, screen distance, ergonomics and FOV, so their setup could not be further from ultimate lol. I have spend over 5 months researching it before I assembled mine, and now I will watch your video to check your setup and see if you made your due diligence : P At the end of the day this does not matter as long as you have fun of course, but passionate people make for harsh critics, don't hold it against me if I end up roasting you.

Hell yes Jay. After this video I pulled out the dusty htc vive pro and set it up for KY Sim racing setup. Took me like 4 hours to setup buy I got it done. Great feeling taking turns at max speed.

I appreciate the warning about the knees. I too am 6 foot 4, and the banging of the knees in my old race car and current Impala is definitely an issue when getting into and out of basically any vehicle, but especially the smaller vehicles with less room all around to move and manipulate your body getting in and out.

Just built a trak racer tr80 frame (can confirm the instruction manual is mediocre, but customer service was great) and Moza r9 with srp pedals, with a Heusinkveld sequential shifter, and hand brake. Mostly do drifting. Love the Moza stuff awesome for the price especially the r9, I may upgrade to the crp pedals later on.

I looked into the TRX and fell in love with the look of the blue Alpine one. Unfortunately, they just have too much flex for me. the shifter plate looks weak and bounces around upon shifting. Aluminum profile chassis may not be as pretty, but they are miles better in terms of stiffness and upgrade-ability. I decided to go with a ASR6 with front mount to hold my Simagic Alpha U. Since more than 1 person will be using yours, I guess that TRX may check more boxes for you. Happy Racing :)

I'm gonna say it, the correct side of the road is the left and there are clear reasons... manual transmition cars- the gear stick is operated with the left hand which leaves your right hand on the wheel (makes sense for majority), additionally most people are right eye dominant which means your right eye is seeing oncoming traffic.

Jay's on the giant side like me. 197cm myself and I felt that comment about bumping knees on any car I drive. Also, the ad in the middle of the video is a better idea than an ad at the start of the video. The transition was smooth and the chances of me skipping it are very slim. Shout-out to Phill and Nick! I reviewed a slight different rig from Track Racer (TR80 Gen1 here on RU-vid), roughly 3 years ago... Still the same issues with missing hardware to put things together.. No manuals back then. However, when I got it all finally built, the rig is great. Great video thanks for sharing!!

I found this channel after I got into sim racing and decided I want to build my 1st pc so I could change from console to pc. It's great to see some sim related stuff on this channel now. Would be great to see it go a bit further, especially into the options and recommendations on what to put into a pc for sim racing, there's lots of info out there for gaming, but when you are specifically looking at sim racing and wanting to run, ultrawide, triple monitors, VR, 1440p, 4k, infomation starts getting a bit harder to find. Would be easy to say just put a 4090 in it, but for those on more of a budget, what is needed to build a pc without having to go over kill and spend a fortune.

for VR simracing you want at least 3090 (4070ti not enough vram) or 4080. I recently gone the opposite way, PC to PS5 and PSVR2 for Gran Turismo 7, the PSVR2 manages to boost performance of it's GPU enough to play like a 3090/3090Ti.

I have a welder so the price of metal, spray paint, and a day of fun making my own frame is much cheaper and probably stronger. It's on wheels so I can roll it out of the way. And I used the factory seat from my frs. I use a moza r9 direct drive. It's plenty strong enough for me in drifting. I don't need 20nm at all.

I bought a cheapo wheel about a month and a half ago thinking I'd rarely if ever use it, and next thing I knew I was three grand deep into a DD wheel and full on rig and using VR for the first time ever. It's such an amazing hobby.

Good review. I raced NASCAR when it was the ONLY online sim in the 90's, by modem and server in Hawaii, and built my own wheel ( boat racer ) and shifter with push switches on the axis. I could compete with anyone. Today I couldn't touch a sim for less than about $3k in hardware, another $3k in pc, so I'm out. Appreciate being able to live vicariously through JayzTwoCents. THANKS!

I would recommend the Simagic alpha mini DD wheelbase, they have similarly good wheelrims too, the base is more powerful, and similar in price as the Moza R9

You need 2 more then race each other in VR, that could be cool, even having a flight sim in them would be interesting. You do need to do more racing and flight sim stuff, the tech and sims have come a long way in the last 10 years. Another awesome video though.

More sim racing content, please. I know a lot of people would love to see some cockpit builds and reviews and some sim racing PC builds. You could do builds for different budgets or frame rates or monitor configurations like the triple screens vs Ultrawides vs VR. Also, after doing enough hardware reviews, all 3 of you would have your own racing rigs so you could race each other. BONUS! The sim world would open up a ton of content opportunities.

Looks like a decent rig although I'm pretty partial to my 8020 rig. 😀 I know you guys are using VR but one thing to note is you wouldn't want to mount a monitor so far back from the wheel as per the main monitor mount location, you want your monitor as close to you as possible.

I bought myself the Tr8 Pro a month ago. Had no problems by mounting them👍. I love the style and the quality...have fun with the Sim Rig😉. Especially with the Moza...love the GS wheel😻, maybe my next invest in the future. Actually I drive with a T300. BR from Germany🙋‍♂️

That's a nice rig - great for anyone who needs adjustability. I think if you don't need instant adjustability an aluminium profile rig would still be my recommendation but yes this looks like a great rig.

It would be very cool to see a triple screen setups for your gpu and cpu benchmarks. It's very intensive to render 180° at 3*2k or 3*4k. ACC makes even a RTX 4090 sweat

This! There’s lots of simracing channels, but none of them go through PC hardware like you do…when benchmarking a new GPU or CPU if you could include VR and/or Triple monitor performance of racing sims would be great!

I have a set up from gt omega. started with just a wheelstand witha logitech g29. then i upgraded to a thrustmaster t300 and got the better thrustmaster pedals. then i got the gt omega seat which has a frame that connects to the wheelstand. in this way i didn't have to spend a ton of money right away. I just added on as i found myself realizing sim racing was something i really liked. So far I just really enjoy ACC...great community and the racing is so much fun!!! i'm usually simracing an hour or two almost everyday!

I just built my TRX a few weeks ago and was missing the lock washers as well. I went HD and got some, but it was annoying. To make it worse, the black lock washers from Trak Racer arrived a week later. Lol

I have been doing sim racing for 3 years now and I am still on my Logitech G920 wheel and pedals. I am basically waiting til I have moved and when I have managed to, in Assetto Corsa beat like 1:40 time in a GTE on Daytona, 1:55 in Sebring and basically hitting alien times on most of the tracks. I am also playing DCS and I am basically trying to get good on a controller before getting a HOTAS and VR. So it will probably 2 more years before I get the stuff.
