The best line is at 40:52 when he says “we’re limited to 15mph because the hood isn’t latched” as if that’s the one thing about the car that makes it unsafe 😂😂😂
Vin.... I don't think you give yourself enough credit for how important you were in the development in hoonigan. I can honestly say between you and hert you have created so much motivation/enthusiasm towards the car community. I am so sad and happy that you and hert are going off and enjoying your lives. Still miss those early DT days waking up before work and our whole flat team (4 guys) watching and getting amped up to go do our mechanical jobs. We all have drift cars and hold some sort of automotive job. I am foreman of my own shop and can honestly say YOU are one of the main motivators!!!
You guys should look into panel bonding adhesive for joining the two cars together, they have ones that are rated for use on both aluminum and steel and if properly prepped are as strong as welding. Looks like you did a pretty good job of fitting it up but I fear for you if you ever crash it, I could see the body just shearing off and killing everybody inside. Or maybe build a roll cage inside of it so that the structure of the body isn't as needed. Looking forward to see how you finish it all up.
I was thinking the same thing they'res no way those bolts are gonna hold if it crashes/gets hit but also they cut out alot so there's missing a bunch of structural stuff as well but idk
The fact you were building this on the side...any put it out in one video...this could literally be your biggest video yet. And you deserve it. Way to go, man!
It really could have been his biggest video tbh he needs tonwork on video names if he titled it tesla swapped a minivan it would reach so many more people
My first car was my mom's 2000 Odyssey, I loved that thing. As someone who now loves EV's as well, this is the ultimate build. Nostalgia galore, and SWEET build! Best build I have seen in a long time.
Dude this video felt like a full production extended tv episode. The editing and everything is just so good. Only 5 minutes in and I’m so hyped for this build.
Wow. Great job. I’m an old school hot rodder with what is now slow American iron V8s. Stoked to see you guys carrying the torch with new school hot rodding. that is a ton of work and I am impressed.
I’m living vicariously through this amazing project. For most of us without the time, skill or resources to even attempt what you did- you brought out the kid in all of us. Great job!!
Kyle...this is an awesome, cool project, you did an awesome job planning it and explaining and showing the evolution and steps involved...GREAT SLEEPER PROJECT, GREAT VIDEO! We're looking forward to seeing everything else you do to and with this sick, fast, truly stealth mini van! 👍
Tbh, it's also showing just how versatile teslas could be if they really wanted to make them. You can take a shitty minivan, throw it on a tesla, and you've improved it in every way (except range)
@@jttech44weather we like it or not, this is the future of car modification. Take an electric platform and get as creative as possible. Kyle is blazing the path
Lmao it's pretty embarrassing any of you think this is a "swap" let alone the future or trail blazing. Yup hack a body off one car and just attach it to a pre built chassis. Real trail blazing there buddy. This is what happens when computer nerds think they can be car guys.
100% long content like this def brings in the revenue ... specially if you watch it start to finish. I was short on time but had to see it so I watched at 1.5x speed. Absolute greatest content I've seen all year! Sucks he is getting backlash from the people who think EV's are ruining the automotive world.@@8SecSleeper
Great work Guy are going about the tricky way. Around 35 years ago I put a Vett body on a lowered Bronco. I just took body off the truck and slowly lowered the Vett on the frame, making whatever mods necessary to get it to fit. You could've saved a lot of work by doing similar. This leave as much a possible of the van interior intact Thats the whole trick, when you get in, it has to be the same as the doner body, hopefully the outside also.
I’ve never watched a 1 hour long video and still think it wasn’t long enough. Wow guys you outdid yourselves again such a awesome project, can’t wait to see it completely finished.
All the best! I know the feeling.. deep breaths, have patience, trust in yourself and things tend to present itself. Also know you have a huge support group that is willing to help too (including myself in Vegas) Safe travels in your well deserved vacation! Looking forward in your next step! Onward and upward! Kanpai!
Bro invested 100 points into foresight and production value Brother I'm honestly impressed and happy to see this happening. I knew you guys would do somthing crazy but man you keep raising the stakes.
This sleeper swap is already very cool, it's going to be a LOT of fun to drive and race. When it is all weather/noise sealed up, the interior is all back in and you can put it in race mode to make it do what you intended and once you roll the fenders keep it bone stock and homely looking for true stealth mode everywhere it gets driven and do some damage with it at the track! We're looking forward to the rest of the series on this sleeper beast build and the final finished machine.
I can tell how serious this project is and how dedicated everyone is to it. Kyle has the dog taking measurements at 6:50 😂😂😂. Edit: Thanks for the likes .lol
This is, without a doubt, the greatest sleeper build I've ever seen. You guys own 2 of the baddest mini vans on the planet. I think a suicide door setup for the back doors would be a nice touch!
@TheReaper42069 doors that open from the front. So the hinge would be on the back of the door and they would swing open opposite a regular door. They were dubbed suicide doors because if you opened them on the driver's side and a passing vehicle hit it, you would get crushed by the door.
the funny thing is that all of the absurd minivans i've seen are all Odysseys. There's the 2 the boostedbois have, i remember an episode of Top Gear USA where they had a like 2012 one with 1000 hp and then there's Honda's own 2022 one with the 900 hp hybrid Indycar engine that'll race next year mounted in the middle of it
Been watching yall for years. Regardless of how popular this build is.... IM SO F'N PROUD OF YOU!!! BRO....this is legit. Absolutely original, and completely on point to your brand. Absolutely love it. Well done BB.
I never normally watch a long video like this on RU-vid but out of respect for this achievement i watched the whole lot. But please please keep the aesthetics of the car exactly like it is the mismatch colours makes it look so much better and the hood is the pièce de résistance. Awesome job guys
You have to take it to a Tesla dealership now for the electrical problems 😂😂 this is such a cool build. Can’t wait to see it finished. I started watching you about 6+ years ago in a tiny garage with the red hatch. Never thought I’d start loving EV content from you when I originally subscribed for Honda’s, hood exits and turbos 😂 keep up the amazing work. Genuinely one of the most slept on channels on RU-vid!
I was actually impressed only like 5 minutes into this clip by how well planned this was. I kind of was expecting something like many youtubers does and just start cutting😂 great build!
yeah was super well done and damn near predicted everything that would happen in the intro before it ever happened. so glad they found that other shell though, i was ready to shed a few tears when he mentioned dismantling rowdessy.
@@sirmonkey1985 Not the rowdessy. That's the 1st gen odyssey. This is the 2nd gen he bought and never did anything with. It's sitting in the background at 57:38.
Some 19" odyssey wheels from a later model odyssey would make it the perfect sleeper. Same bolt pattern as a tesla plaid. Just need to do some measuring to get the offset figured out, get them cut and widened so they tuck and look factory while still rocking a wider tire and clearing the brakes. Mount the seats up a little higher so you have a better field of view (and look normal from outside), paint it the factory color and just make it look like a well cared for minivan. Then blow the doors off of 99% of the cars on your local Mexican roads.
Just one issue, can't weld cast aluminum wheels..... It just doesn't work. People who weld on their wheels have a different level of confidence..... There is a reason that other people don't...
@@ryurc3033 the way around it would be doing a custom stock insert 3 piece. can't remember the companies name that does it but you can do it with most stock rims. but in my opinion i like the current rims because it looks like your typical "who the fk would put rim's on a clapped out minivan" upgrade to some one that wouldn't have a clue what rims those actually are.
What?😂 it's for sure something imaginable by millions of people. The dude hacked a car apart and bodged it to another hacked up car. People have designed and built jet fighters and vehicles for space exploration, and you are struggling to imagine this in comparison. Lmao.
Jet fighters take millions of tax payer dollars, takes thousands to build & design, and a fucking assembly plant. This thing takes only a few heads and a small garage. You must be fun at parties.
I wonder if Elon accounted for what car culture would do with his vehicles and their various parts? I wonder when the Tesla minivan will end up being an actual thing now?
He did, he talked about it on Joe Rogan and loved how people were modding the looks and doing body swaps or even power plant rebuilds, like what richrebuilds was doing
Kyle holy shit, you have no idea how happy this makes me, I have been such a huge honda fanboy but I dont think I have ever been so excited for a incredible build like this, thank you for uploading it from start to finish
@@legros731yeah, I'll be glad when the factory quits doing too. That's what all cars are.... Either a body shell on a unibody frame, or a body on a frame. It's still a one of a kind. I haven't seen a Honda mini-van on a Tesla unibody....until now. I like it. I think it's badass.
@@krustymudracer good for you it as crap as putting a corvette body on a pick up truck stupid and useless And by the way most car are unibody they don't do what you say even then the frame is not the same on a f150 and a f350
The most impressive thing of all, you literally made it in 1 VIDEO.. holy moly, now thats impressive. I know someone restoring a yellow flooded car who made a whole video vacuuming the car... Congrats man, seriously awesome. Subscribed.
Kyle you have the coolest neighbours, apart from all the two step checks and burnouts, using an angle grinder at 2 in the morning and not getting any complaints, crazy!
@@williamsinger4124 ohh I forgot about that, that’s the day Kyle went full Florida man, just after that he was on Facebook marketplace looking at airboats
Kyle, I am so so proud of you and wyatt and your team. I remember when you barely had a 100000 subs. Then you broke one million. You guys are amazing. Never stop BOOSTEDBOIZ FOR LIFE
In order to prevent galvanic corrosion to your aluminum, where the two dissimilar metals meet, you should encapsulate them, isolate them with something like a layer of EPDM and use fasteners with a zinc coating, which will act as a sacrificial anode. You will have to replace the fasteners regularly, but it's better than having your aluminum Tesla parts corrode where the van body mounts. I think the sliding doors getting a gullwing treatment would be cool.
I love this ❤ many years ago, I wrote hotrod magazine and asked if anyone had ever thought about body swapping an electric car. My thoughts were to use a cobra kit car body. The public reply from Frieburger was," who knows, who cares". Your project is what hot rodding is all about. Building something unique that kicks azz. I absolutely love this ❤
Your editing skills and attention to detail is spot on, you should really do some “start to finish” 45min-1 hr videos on the other builds you’ve done. I’m not a fan of long videos but I tell you I’m into your content so much I’d watch and I’m sure million others would as well.
Put some caulk or at least paint between the aluminum and steel interfaces, and then paint over the whole joint after it’s assembled to prevent galvanic corrosion between the dissimilar metals 👍
just need a Christmas tree mount on the top and you can dominate Cleetus's Christmas Tree Race. I would love to see that happen. Just to see Cleetus have to pick his jaw off the floor when this thing beats the Trackhawk hands down!!
The fitment of the wheels looks great. Pretty certain you could probably get some bushings with caster adjustment if you need to centre them up more. Been a fan since the minivan was briefly lawn mower swapped! OG’s will remember that one 😆😉
Fam! You are Dr. TeslaStein! You're a genius! I'm on the other side of Florida. You sand a sub off this build ALONE! THIS IS 5 MONTHS AGO! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE UPDATES! Awesome job, bro!
Hope they go through the process of seam sealing the absolute hell out of that thing to keep the outside out, so it's mint, one of the coolest projects ever.
Made it look so easy!! That research you did definitely paid off! The skills you demonstrate and progress with are always improving and evolving!! Wyatt is a beast with his fabrication and adaptation in each of your builds! Love you guys, I have been a subscriber since you were at your mom's garage! Proud of you guys!! 👏
Bro this is a crazy good idea especially since you've been planning it for a year. I was already subed but will be watching every video from now on. Keep it up bro!
This is that next level stuff you talked about when going down to Florida! There is no way anyone came close to building something this clever this entire year!!!!
b is for build wanted to body swap a lamborghini murcielago onto a model 3 but scrapped the idea because the dashboard would stick to far into the door.
I love this! Back in 2007 ish I was in my parents' Odyssey, and I had the opportunity to sit a red light next to an audi R8. I revved my engine he revved his. The light turned green, I dropped my foot to the floor... and just like that the r8 was a quarter mile away, it felt like I was going in reverse. I always wanted to make a van sleeper to make a super car question if they are going slow, or is the van keeping pace!
This just kept getting better every minute. This video, the creativity flowing through every creation, every build, project and the overall top tier level of absolutely captivating content in general coming from this channel non stop back to back is honestly so greatly entertaining in every way and more that I could go on and on but describing every aspect wouldn't do any justice to whats going on here and what you guys do.... I could easily watch 3 more hours of if it kept going. At the end of each video I'm ready to see what you guys are going to do next. Keep up the great work guys, see ya next upload. 👍
Holy crap it almost done a ground clearance wheelie but it still done a wheelie and a great job on the van. Keep up the videos on the progress on the van
This is awesome and you have my attention for the full project. You making the Honda accessories work (windows, etc) is an excellent idea to make the project really come to life. Regarding the plate covering the space between the dash and firewall, I suggest you block off the entire nose of the vehicle from inside the engine bay to prevent air from getting through; it would be better for aerodynamics and prevent the dash from lifting like it did in this video. Very cool project, well done!
Kyle you have once again impressed us with your ingenuity. The fact that you have successfully done this when nobody else would, shows absolute dedication while being absolutely hilarious. Also I guarantee that someone will turn that booty shake at 21:40 into a gif and haunt the internet forever 😂
I want to fab the stock tesla lights into the Honda lights.... let me know if you want a custom fit or something going. Maybe even some programmable leds for a sequential taillight setup. Great job. I always love the work you guys put into your projects. 👏🏾🤙🏾
Kyle Brings a whole different ballgame to the table and Wyatt probably one of the best fabricator and welder I've ever seen You Guys are not making history your building the Future absolute LEGENDS Florida Men!!
