Hey dude you are driving me crazy with your builds. And thanks to you I know now Warmouth. I don't even know what color and bla bla bla. But for sure is going to be a Telecaster from Warmouth. Thanks for all of this awesome videos.
Darrell do you have any Benders in your collection ? If not maybe worth your while to contact Forest Lee Jr in Tenneesee he has a you tube channel .and a Top luther in the states here .
As I’ve said before, your videos are the best by far. You’re detailed, friendly, clear, concise, and knowledgeable. You put most of the other contributors to shame. Well done Sir!
I get a lot of questions about this Tele, so hopefully this "re-build" video will help answer most of them :) Position 2 with both pickups engaged sound absolutely AMAZING and adding the neck P90 really sweetened this guitar up!
Position 2 is often instant Nirvana, especially on telecasters , gretsch or other guitars with p90 or "Tron"style pickups. Thanks for another great video.
06:56 - 09:52 WOW ! A 2 Minute And 56 Second Build ! Fastest I Have Ever Seen ! 09:33 It Is Too Bad That, THAT Particular Neck Did Not Come With The Micro Tilt Adjustment Feature. I Have Always Believed That It Is Better To Have And Not Use, Than To Not Have And Need ! (Well, At Least, That Is What My Girlfriend Always Says About Me !) 09:35 Was That A Gold Fender Custom Shop Neck Plate That I Saw You Install On The Back Of That Tele ?!? 09:44 I Love That Gold Fender Roller Tree ! 10:26 - 10:56 Yep ! That Vintage Vibe P-90 Sounds Great ! 11:08 - 11:45 Man ! That DiMarzio Chopper T Sounds Great ! 11:47 Thanks, Darrell, For The Great Show ! I hope to see - and hear - that Tele in other videos !
What? I won? Awesome, looking forward to you shipping this out to me this week! 😳😂 The guitar looks amazing and those black an gold pickups and bridge look stellar. Fantastic build choices🎸🤘🏻😎
Wow Darrell what an amazing guitar, I’m watching the video again. I was thinking of purchasing a wamouth custom telecaster body and neck, now I have to get mine. Thank you for your tutorial.
That guitar looks - and sounds - amazing. Thanks for doing nothing whatsoever to quell my serious case of tele-lust ! Another great video from one of my favorite channels !
Why? Why do you have to create a video with that much raw deliciousness? The neck looks like it plays amazingly. The slow reveal of the tuners on the neck just about did me in, and that Chopper T bridge is FIERCE, I love it! The P90 with switchable magnets is a really nifty idea as well. But one last time to the Chopper in the bridge, Dang! Was that the Blue Angel wailing away? The combination of that guitar and that amp is Ridiculously good. Thanks for sharing a really really cool build, Darrell! I would love to see any advice you have for properly setting a new neck into an old guitar body. You make it look too easy!
LOL, if you ever wanna make a donation to my tiny (3) guitar collection, I could be persuaded to take that hideous thing off your hands! 😉All kidding aside, that is one beautiful and hot sounding instrument man! Nice work man!! 🤙🏻🎸
The Telecaster love continues...can't wait to see the double bound Daphne Blue Tele down the road ;)! Fascinating video Darrell, I'd love to have your skills...
That is one of the most beautiful teles i've ever seen. idk why but i have a thing for gold hardware. I love building /modifying /playing guitars on my channel good or bad guitars i cant keep my hands off em i cant wait till i get my laptop back from school it sucks not being able to upload (no this computer isn't mine im borrowing it)
Hey Darrell i tease you often, but i actually like you :) I think, this build thing you do, is a really cool thing to watch ah!? I really enjoy it. Thx mate. Well done. And yes Darrell, we are having a great day :))) (Sorry i couldn't help my self!). :)
I'm a little bias as a Tele guy, but BEST BUILD EVER!!! No this came out great man. Awesome tones from those pups as well. That bridge pickup is no joke! Well done.
Wow thats a kick ass tele. I alao love double bond bodies but dont love paying for them lol.. I got a 1970s Japanese LP copy when i was 14 got it in like 1979.. Yup double bond body. Neck is trashed so im gonna do a build with a warmouth neck new electronics and pick ups etc... Thanx for the inspiration to get off my ass and build a cool 🎸
Hey man, since planning on building my own Tele, im really into your video's, you're doing a great job. For my Tele i plan on installing a set of Seymour Duncan Quarter pound single coils. Do you have any experience with them?
Yes folks he has done it again! Great job Darrell. Sure sounds sweet! As they say, Looking good! I.m working on a Squire contemporary HH. I have questions on pickups and tuners. Thanks Mike
Charlie Newman ,Tele's aren't for everyone, no doubt. But the ones that play them, can really shred one to pieces, kno watta mean? I bought one new in 98',and still have it, just recently i got it out of the closet and now its my main ax... over my strat or my les paul. Its kinda like, you gotta know HOW to play a telly, not just play guitar, if that made since, lol
Wesley Dunn...I think a killer guitarist will be killer on any guitar he or she picks up. And-hard as it is for me to say-SGs, which are my favorite guitars, aren't for everybody either! Hell, s'all just opinion, yeah?
Charlie Newman ,yeah, a killer guitarist will be a killer guitarist on ANY guitar they pick, no doubt about it.... I want an SG... Ive always wanted a white one like ive seen George Harrison play a few times, there soooo damn sharp!
I wonder if you could take a standard shred guitar, say a $300 Ibanez or Jackson or something, and Petruccify the living daylights out of it: Piezo, locking tuners, DiMarzio signature pickups, the lot. I love Petrucci's tone but damn, I ain't got the sort of money EBMM is asking!
The Chopper T has a strong Tele sound. I would recommend the Dimarzio Super Distortion T. I rounds out the sound a bit and makes the Tele sing. I use one with the same Hipshot Bridge.
Thanks for a great video. Once built an Andy Summers Tele, but was never very happy with with it. Let me know how the compansated bridge works out for you tonally. Currently, I'm playing a Thinline with Area T pickups, and just received a new American Original 60s Tele Lake Placid Blue.
Another great build Darrell looks awesome.warmoth makes beautiful stuff top of the line.man I'll tell you Darrell you really know your stuff.i could not do what you do.love your vids very entertaining
Well you are right about one thing...The perfect tele would definitely have double binding on the body. Another fantastic build man. You have put together some truly beautiful guitars. The recent trans black strat was incredible.
I just put a humbucker from hell in the neck of my Les Paul. Combined with my Super Distortion it almost sounds like an acoustic guitar. Really sweet blusey tones with a little overdrive as well. Cool build Darrell! Sweet guitar!
I AM SO GLAD I SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR CHANNEL I AM A DIY GUY AND WOW HOW EASY TO MAKE YOUR OWN GUITAR THESE DAY IT LIKE MODING YOUR PC OR CAR!! THANKS A MILLION!!
@@loganwhite8375 Great info - thanks. I looked for something close to this on Warmoth's site using the link provided, but it went to the general neck page, nothing as exotic looking there, so this must be a phone-call discussion order, not a drop-down box select option order.
@@loganwhite8375 Thanks LW for walking me through that process - That's a nice neck for anyone's "standard build"! I'd definitely pin it down with a phone call and printed order, too.
My current project is a white blonde squier classic vibe telecaster body, used, a new fender/mexican 'U' neck, fender pure vintage '64 tele pickup set, fender compensated three brass saddle bridge, cts pots, switchcraft jack, fender split shaft vintage tuners, fender five hole pickguard/eggshell.
I've been under the impression that alinco magnets are warmer sounding than ceramic. Ceramic magnets are usually associated with inexpensive pickups. Gorgeous neck!!
Hi! Yes. That is a common thought, but has not been my experience. The pickup winder recommend them as well. I think it comes out of the reputation of high gain ceramic based active pickups which are indeed quite cutting ☺
It just goes to show that pickup winding/building is more nuanced than the internet leads me to believe. I thought the internet was always right ;-) Man, that tele is pretty. Love the double white binding. Rock On!
For what its worth. I have been building guitars with inexpensive Chinese pickups and I really truly can't tell the difference. You can save a lot of money here with that.
If you're a fan of the double bound Tele, have you checked out GFS's selection? They have several colors in their XGP range including sunburst - and no, I don't work for them ;)
It would obscure the logo, but with that color scheme, it would have looked even better with the top of the "head" painted black. I know purists might gasp at this, but the problem with Telecasters is the lack of arm bevels & belly cutouts of Strats. Yes, the double binding is classy...but that sharp edge under one's picking arm is a complaint of many "Tele" players.
Hello, Darrell! I remember your favorite guitar is Tele. I'm also into Tele body shape very much, and trying to built one. But the thing is that, I see that Tele deluxe 70's version got CBS style big headstock, just looks so powerful and cool! And other than that, Eric Clapton replaced his tele with a Strat neck... Since you love Tele so much, I want to hear your opinion, on what headstock shape of Tele, you might prefer a little more? Origin, Strat, CBS, ... , or other shapes like Warmoth, Tom Anderson/Suhr, even Ibanez AZS...?
Buongiorno!!!
You should check out some of Xaviere guitars from guitarfetish(dot)com. Also they have some more high end necks and bodies. On top of that, they have some sweet pickups too.
For years, I could not understand the appeal of Telecasters. I sincerely tried. There's no denying people can milk a Telecaster to mighty effect when they know what they're doing. I don't know what I'm doing with a Telecaster. The necks fight me. The timbre is thin. The pickups don't behave. The switches are all wrong. The damn things don't sit in my lap comfortably. The headstock is janky. Everything about them just doesn't work for me. That just changed. But I have a bad example. It's a lawsuit-era Pan Telecaster from Japan. Someone put a Dimarzio single coil in the bridge (I don't like Dimarzio pickups as a rule.) They put some no-name pickup in the neck (I tend to prefer humbuckers there.) The bridge saddles are literally cut down bolts. It's a top loader bridge. The volume and tone knobs reverse the phase of the pickups. There's an obvious gash in the guitar they made to fit the Dimarzio in the bridge. And there's a zeroth fret. This monstrosity has no redeeming cosmetic features. The frets are low, wide, and worn down to nothing. But I bought it. This contraption sounds exactly like a Telecaster should. I have no explanation why. The neck doesn't fight me. Hell, it casts the strange illusion there are fewer frets on it. Just a simple expanse of fretboard which is oddly cozy and familiar. I can't explain it. Did I finally grow into Telecasters? I tried proper Telecasters, and all the old struggles are still there. This Pan is something different and supple. Go figure.
To conitnue the black/gold combo, i think if the tuners were like black/gold/black/gold etc. Ive never seen different colour tuners on a guitar before but i think you could pull it off with this guitar
