This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ru-vid.comUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
Good workmanship but always remember the 3 most important rules in any workshop, safety, safety and the most important of all Safety. Anyone that can produce a fine piece like that cart should have no difficulty making up a set of push sticks. Loads of ideas online I also admire your faith in glue alone, for long term use I think screws or better again bolts and nuts would really make this a solid build.Well done very nice project.
I like it, very clean design and it looks sturdy. BTW, you can call it whatever you want. Ultimate, stupendous, out-of-this-world tool cart. Commenters on youtube can be so precious sometimes.
Brilliant design, becuse easy to make with hand tools. I use my own as a trolley for my desktop PC. I mounted the monitor on a post in the center of the top using a VESA bracket.
Good job, man. Met you at maker faire. Keep it up and more people will begin to recognize you. I'll come down the hill sometime and check out the shop. Tell your dad again I said that you are going to need the whole garage soon. And good luck on your finals.
my friend Great video, I congratulate you Watch your hands, from one moment to another you will lose a finger or the entire hand. Work with more care and use safety equipment
Hey chief, Don't want to be a thorn in your side, but gloves on a table saw are a no no. Looks good, some rough sawn lumber projects coming up? One more thing, them music was great.
I only used gloves to break down the large sheets. The circular saw leaves a rough edge and I didn't want any splinters. I am very aware of the dangers with gloves and table saws. I made sure there was no loose string or anything on the gloves that could get caught in the blade. Thanks for looking after me though!!!
It's all good, I'm not a safety nerd, I just learned the hard way, don't want any one else too. You build furniture on commission, your definitely good enough?
nice tool cart, good job. im surprised at how strong the glue is,considering the tight fit of the lower plate. im new to woodworking, will do a workbench and a tool cart as my two first projects.
Nice build! I've been using similar carts in my shop for years although yours is a lot nicer than the ones I built using 2x4s and scrap plywood. It's nice to see someone with a mix of both expensive and cheap tools. That's how most shops are as things get upgraded and the fact of the matter is cheap is good enough for some tasks. Anyway I'm wondering why you haven't invested in some sanding equipment? Seems you do a lot of hand sanding in your videos. a random orbit and small belt sander really speed up the process.
I have only been acquiring tools for a couple years. Cheap tools are great for getting started. I am slowly in the process of upgrading tools and such. I have been looking at some of the Makita or Dewalt cordless line of tools. I have the mindset of buying quality tools that will last a long time
I'd just keep expanding on the Makita cordless. you've already got a good start. Honestly the only cordless tools I use in the shop are drill and impact driver. I've got the full cordless compliment on my work truck but when electric is easy to source I'd rather have corded saws. Keep up the good work!
Just a caution for everyone - the table saw placement in the garage and kickback is something to think about. What if you were cutting a small piece that kicked back - where would that piece go? Would it avoid the windshield of the car or not? In a few years I'll be moving my shop to the garage and this is something I haven't thought about...
Excellent video. You are definitely skilled at what you do and I truly appreciate you sharing your skills. With that being said, and this is just my opinion, useless video on how to build a mobile shop cabinet for anyone just starting out in woodworking. Like so many videos on RU-vid, no explanation as to what you are doing. If you're intent was to video yourself making the cabinet, then, great video, I gave you a thumbs up. Keep up the good work. Will definitely watch more.
Forgive me, but what is it about this design makes it "Ultimate"? Don't get me wrong, it looks very nice and you did a fantastic job building it. But I think the word "Ultimate" is very overused on youtube.
I like the build , I like the video work. Not crazy about the title. My .02 cents worth would be to add the word "MY" in front of ultimate and you would be good.
Nice build but why not put the planer on the bottom and the miter on the top? Seems more logical (to me at least) to organize them that way. Thanks for sharing the build
Yea I understand, but you can use the planer when it's on the bottom and never have to move it - plus the whole cart will be a lot sturdier if the weights on the bottom instead of the top. I guess it doesn't really matter though if you plan on moving the miter saw around a lot and don't plan to use it on the cart ever otherwise I'd just swap them and then you'll never need to move either again.
A real solid cart. Right now, I agree with Maac's thoughts. With the planer on the bottom it lowers the center of gravity. You got me thinking though that if my cart had the saw on top, I would add wings to flip up when I wanted to chop longer stock. But that might get in the way of using the planer on the bottom when they are flipped up. Hmm, maybe rotate the planer 90° to get around that problem? Anyhow, I know that where these are located is only important to whoever is using it. Thx for sharing the vid.
Nice video but as others have stated the title is goofy af and you gotta put safety first. Should have called it "How to build the perfect simple workcart, like a real man." Great final result either way. Hopefully you haven't lost too many fingers yet.
Hey use a push guard to push wood through the table saw, ok. Better to cut that vs. a finger. Could save you from a kick back as well. I can show you the scar to prove what it does. Just want to save you the pain I went through.
Only glue, no dovetails. Only machines, no trace of any handtool. What a perfect craftmansship. :"{ Oh, yes, I saw a couple of chisels. Do you use them also?
great video, if I can make a suggestion, go watch my video on the Styrofoam 2x4 and you will see how to break down large sheets easily. looking forward to your next video.
The amount of people preaching push sticks on the table saw. Over 30 years around power tools including tablesaws and no one has ever lost a finger or hand pushing the wood through like he did. Everyone I've seen lose a finger or hand walked away from the tablesaw then returned after someone else used it who changed the blade height, angle or guide.
