Slight concern, the slats the hinges are attached to could be unscrewed: when you get those additional screws you might want to switch those out too, so no one tries to "dig around" so to speak.

I think those security screws on the hinges go through the cladding and into the 2x4 timber behind them? So if I saw that right, it should be pretty solid, unless they're patient enough to unscrew all the cladding anyway :-)

Solid work sir, get some torx screws in those padlock fittings... Congratulations on acquiring the plethora of 18v Makita range that you have selected, they are a long way from the budget brands you were acquainted with 2+ years ago. A Makita 18v impact driver is a tool sent from the gods! Thanks for the insight i'm looking forward to your video on dust collection and air compressor selections.

Rag 'n' Bone Brown Yep agreed, i'm the guy that asked your opinion on that 18v RO, I bought both (18v & 240v 5041) from Amazon direct, turned both on and the difference was night and day in power and feel so sent the 18v back for a full refund :). Great set of tools. My next purchase will be an 18v circular as I very very rarely need the power and 2" depth cut of my Makita 5704r, i'm just in the process of choose between the 3 models Makita have on Amazon. Cheers

Adding coverings on the inside negates the noise insulation effect. Line the interior with acoustic cloth instead, that way the Rockwool will absorb noise. Lining the inside with plasterboard/hardboard just means it’s insulating thermally!

Coach bolts work well for door locks & hinges!
@Realm-of-Horror
@Realm-of-Horror 6 лет назад
Forget security screws, just use a coach bolt through the centre of the hasp. That's what that big square hole is for!
@RagnBoneBrown
@RagnBoneBrown 6 лет назад
What difference does it make?
@Realm-of-Horror
@Realm-of-Horror 6 лет назад
Only that it's arguably more secure from people trying to prise the hasp off and you can unbolt/unscrew everything if you wish to change the hasp. But if you'd rather use security screws, thats up to you of course.
@douglasdavie113
@douglasdavie113 5 лет назад
@@Realm-of-Horror I think I would use coach bolts through the hasp too, I had a lock seize on my shed and the easiest and least damaging way to was to take the door off at the hinges, the hinges had been put on with secure screws , I managed to get them off without too much trouble with Vise grips
@brothyr
@brothyr 6 лет назад
if you're worried about the screws being a security issue, get a big drill bit and remove the driver socket. Gonna be a PITA to remove in the future.

Great build. But just one suggestion. If you want to really reduce the sound level outside, using a 20mm spade bit drill a “chess board” series of holes on the inside, to allow the noise to be dampened by the insulation that you installed. It’s a very effective method to reduce sound levels and will still hold everything in place.

probably not the best place to ask, but what's the best insulation for a camper van. I want an insulation that won't collect moisture, as this would rot the sides of the steel van over time

Just a thought, but if you’re going to use the space underneath for wood storage anyway why didn’t or don’t you install a couple of legs or struts at the front. Surely that would reduce any long term stresses on the end wall of your workshop. Even open at the end with slatted sides would allow airflow around your stored wood but keep the rain off. The workshop with its addition looks great. I’ve really enjoyed the entire building process from digging the plot to finally completing it.

Part of me just wanted to prove it could be done, as there are a lot of doubters saying it will fall down 😂 I was standing on top of it recently when I needed to climb up and clear out the gutters, it’s solid
@francoisfouche2568
@francoisfouche2568 6 лет назад
Nice!! I was expecting the outside to be solid and a hole cut into the "old" inside wall ... shows how thoughts differ!! Your way, I assume, you have to go outside to empty your dust collector but it will be much quieter ... especially for filming! Great effort dude !

Rockwool, ah yes, luckily not as bad as glass-wool. I have been working with this stuff for a side job last week. bleh, ugh. There are some acoustic alternatives that are a lot nicer btw, bit more expensive though. Btw, the acoustic insulation would work a lot better when you leave the wool open instead of closing it off with a board. Because rockwool is so nasty, I normally cover it with a piece of cotton blanket/fitted sheets or something. I was wondering, are these screw stainless steel?

Hey, I'm new to your channel and loving the content (been binge watching videos). The only constructive criticism I have is that you tend to try and talk 'clearly' which gives your commentary a strained / artificial sound to it. Maybe you're reading from a script? There are other times when you are just talking, and it doesn't sound strained at all. You don't have a thick accent, so are easily understandable anyway. But no hate, am just giving feedback on my opinion. Thanks for all the great content.
