Those 200-4R the most hp they can handle before breaking slowly is about 350. I built a 355 brand new everything & it did not last long. Now I put a Hughes TH-350 with Ford 9" disk brake differential & 3:40 gears. Those 7.5 rear-ends are good for a lil bit before you add more hp & then break. G-bodies for life 💯

200r4 gott better 1st gear than a 700 thats why. 700 got the really low 1st its not all that. and GNs use 200r4s in 8-9 sec cars..so they definately can be built. manual valve body and billet drum. shit sound good.

I can only shift into drive idk why my cars a 85. That’s been 700r4 swapped by the previous owner. All I got is park, reverse, neutral, over drive and drive. I want to shit it manually like this. Can anyone give me some advice
you should be able to pull it all the way down into first, then shift it all the way into 4th(od) and then neutral. check your adjustment on your trans linkages.
It does not sound build ,it sounds like it has the biggest cam possible, my 383 was a much deeper tone ,and with as much gas as he gives it the tires would have been smoking all the time , and every time my transmission shifted it would roll the tires.
