Thank you for the useful tip , but this would have been better if we could have the functionality to save the document as a pdf , which is more commonly used than an image file
I didn't expect MIUI to do quite a few things better than OneUI when I bought a Xiaomi phone. The camera app in MIUI has a separate Document mode, it automatically detects the corners and saves the cropped photo instantly without the unnecessary steps here. It saves a lot of time when you have to scan many pages. And the smart detection here in OneUI doesn't always work.
Thank you for ur video!! I literally almost paid $3.99 weekly or $69.00 yearly just to download a scanning app for my attorney to receive documents...Im not tech savvy but u definitely helped me 😊
Actually a really useful feature for me. I always have to take pictures of my receipts and resize the images for work. Now I just need to trade in this damn iPhone. I’ve always been an iPhone fan but I had a galaxy s9 for awhile and sold it. I’ve missed that phone ever since lol. Keep the videos coming, awesome job 😎👍
Hello, sir! I love this option. I have been using it for a long time. I was wondering if you know if I can manually make my camera recognize it as a document. There are things I need to scan that sometimes my phone doesn't recognize it as a document and won't bring up the option to scan. Sometimes it does this for my son's blueprints for his architectural engineering class. I really need it to do it and can't. Thanks ahead of time. I appreciate your video.
Hey Saki, I've learned so much about my note 9 since I started watching your channel, your knowledge is unmatched. Thank you for every single tip, trick and tutorial. I never could understand why people paid such outrageous prices for a cellphone. Now after obtaining and getting personal with my note 9; my mind is fully blown
Thanks for your videos. Not sure what happened to my document scanner on my phone but after watching your video, I figured out the glitch. Thanks again 😊
Perfect! It would be nice to have something like that that could make PDF files too so you could add the front and back of driver's licenses, insurance cards, etc. Adobe Scan does, but it stores the information on their web site and of course that stuff is to private to do be able to do that. If it was a pdf you could store it in a password manager which is highly secure and private.
I know this is about Samsung, but doing this in Google drive is much easier. Using Google Drive allows you to use to quickly upload the document (and if you choose to use the quick menu to upload the document.) The document will be uploaded as a PDF which can then be edited.
Cool. Didn't know this was available in the native camera app. I always used Google drive to scan all of my documents. Nice to know that there's another option! Thanks!
The scan tool is good and all but tiny scanner pro app is 1000x better in terms of quality because it has you move the camera to at least 4 different spots on the page/document and stitches it together for a perfect scan. Nice vid Sak!
Saki, do you have a suggestion as to how to troubleshoot the document scanner when it is NOT TURNING ON? I have a Samsung FE S20 and have been using the scanner (which came up automatically on my camera app.when detecting text) since I got my phone over a year ago. Today, I tried to scan a letter but the option to did not show, then I realized I had not seen thus in some time. I followed your instructions exactly, still it does not enable. Any idea what could be happened?? Thanks, Sasha.
This works AMAZING!... I've really have been TRYING to remember to scan ALL receipts/deposits etc... saves a lot of clutter! Even though I'm not comfortable with throwing away originals yet? I do file them at home quickly and know that I have a copy on me, if something comes into question! It's a great feature... I do wish Samsung would File them under Scanned Documents, etc... or maybe there's a way to get to them faster in My Files? But I do Tag Them... like Best Buy, March 29th/16in MacBook Pro... etc! So their easier to find!
It detects the document, applies a crop to the detected document which normally only takes up part of the frame. Because it is difficult to adjust the phone so that it is perpendicular to the document the rectangular document is registered as distorted (trapezoidal) Samsung apply a transform adjustment, like you might do in Photoshop, to produce a rectangular undistorted copy of your document. Very handy.
@@nickb6162 I have a Note 10 with all the latest updates (One UI 2.1 etc), scene optimizer is on and scan documents are enabled but no preview shows up. I think it's only enabled on the s20 line of phones.
This feature apparently OCRs words into the meta info on the scan. I scan a lot of receipts and they get backed up to Google photos. I can then search for the store name from receipts and a lot of the time it'll pull up the receipts I'm looking for. It's not perfect but works more times than not.
thank you. any ideas why it sometimes gives me the scan option and sometimes not? my blue circle and there and all the things you say in this video. it's very frustrating. thanks for any ideas.
Thx for your very useful tips. Unfortunately the scan option is very primitive (works only if recognize automatically, no manual starting, can't scan multiple pages etc) so no need to bother with it...
Hay guys ! I own Note 9 512GB about 3 weeks and its on Android 8.1.0 version ! Should I upgrade to new version to have this feature because on factory version this feature not exist ! Thanks for any advice ! One more ? Can any here guys have an experience about upgrading to new Android for my new Note 9 512GB 8.1.0 ! Does phone run faster or even slowly ? I am not sure about it so I will stay with 8.1.0 version on Note 9 ! Can you scaned document convert in PDF ? Nice presentation !
Mine doesn't either.. And I am on the latest update One UI 2.1. Would love to know how to turn that preview on. I've looked through all the settings and can't find it.
I scrolled through some of the comments but did not see anything regarding distorted scans. If I scan a letter-sized page it squashes the scan vertical. The page is "shorter" and the text on page is compressed somewhat. Sort of like an 8.5x11 page becomes 8.5.x10 or 8.5x9 if that makes any sense?
Good video but wow once trying to use it, it was nowhere as easy to use as my personal fav Mobile Doc Scanner. It lets you change types of docs, and numerous other features. Nice that this is available but I agree with others that it's basically a jpg but labeled as a document 🙄. Can't make it a PDF etc. Not that helpful but that's Samsung not sak! Thanks for taking the time to explain and help us users out!
What does it mean when it highlights the document but doesn't offer a tap to scan button. It is a very clear image, good size text, displayed on at TV screen, looking straight at the image. I have identical images, just different words that it offers the tap to scan if you play with it.
My Note 20 Ultra seems to make documents blurry. My Note 10 Plus was much better. Really regretted trading in during the pre order. Should have waited for reviews
@@jamiecollett8840 that's not true. At least not with my Note 10+. It's saving the shot as a JPG format, which is the same as a regular photo. (Note 10+ AT&T One UI 2.1)
When I scan any document using my note 10 it looks exactly as it is unlike the iPhone looks like it was scanned by a scanner and it even improves the photo in case your shadow was there, any idea?
I updated my phone recently and now the blue "t" box is gone with the option to scan my photos into a document. I went to my settings and followed your directions, but I'm still not seeing the option as I did prior to my update. I used this option nearly everyday. Can you help me restore it? 😊
What I find difficult, is when the background is not a contrasting color , (similar to white, or page color) tap to scan does not appear, any solutions to scan if you do not have access to what you want to scan and place it in a more contrasting setting? (or any app that can help with that? Samsung galaxy note 9 user here)
I'm on a VERIZON S9 software version g965usqs7csk5 But don't see the 'document scan' option. Is this an update thing that I'll get later, or am I missing something?
