Listen for the "murder batty bwoy" line in this early live performance of "Boom Bye Bye." In the recording of "Boom Bye Bye" that was released in 1992, that line is gone. I think it is replaced with "shoot the batty bwoy."
Its a shame just goes to show their agenda he gets dropped from his label for speaking about his religious belief they're the ones that are intolerable of other people's different opinion if they want acceptance they should accept that it's ok if others don't agree with their lifestyle
@BERNARDO712 "Buju Banton is greatness." At this moment, Mark Myrie, who is known as "Buju Banton," is a convicted criminal. I would say that "Bob Marley was great." Buju, not so much. Don't be sad, though. As Buju says: "The show continues, even if I am not there." (Oslo, 2007).
because you never heard the great bob comment about gay people That does not mean he liked them i do think rasta thrown upon them but god say leave all judgement onto him
@Merplov ". . . hope he gets a long penelty." Mark Myrie, who is known as "Buju Banton," was sentenced to 10 years plus one month in U.S. federal prison on June 23rd, 2011. The charge of "possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense" was dropped by the judge at sentencing. So Buju got a break. That charge would have added five years to his sentence.
+Twilight Sparkle I am a Christian also not your judge and jury if you look at original post it is quoting Gods word not calling out anybody. The Church I attend welcomes everyone because no one is perfect and without sin. I will suggest that you spend time in prayer and allow the Holy Sprit minister to you as for my homophobic bull shit sorry God is still working on me, I don't live to offend anyone
@BERNARDO712 "You have a different opinion. One that I don't really care about." I think there are a lot of people who don't really care for murder music. Just because they all aren't commenting about it here doesn't mean that they don't like it. If there were more awareness of this hateful music and murderation, there would be even more people speaking out about it I think the NAACP should be condemning these open calls for lynching and murder. The NAACP supports equal rights for LGBT people
i feel sorry for poor MARKY MARK ( mark wahlberg ) who was also on that talk show in england when shabba made that statement . he also agreed with shabba on the same show . lost his career too .lol !!! whatever career he had .
@jtubebx1 "Recent studies show homosexuals have a substantially greater risk of suffering from a psychiatric problems than do heterosexuals. We see higher rates of suicide, depression, bulimia, antisocial personality disorder, and substance abuse. " I don't think people are killing themselves because they are left- handed!" But, I will check out the link from your page.
Im not a homophobe. I have a same sex couple in my family. I still believe it is wrong, and you are crazy if you think a righteous man like Nesta Bob Marley would support homosexuality you are insane.
@Merplov "I know, hope he gets a long penelty." We want the penalty to be reasonable and appropriate for the crimes that Buju was convicted of. Early articles about the case said that Buju could face up to life imprisonment. More recent articles claim he's facing up to 15 years. I think life imprisonment is too long. He's unlikely to get that. His co-conspirator, Ian Thomas, got 51 months, a little more than 4 years. Thomas plead guilty & cooperated. We'll just have to wait and see . . .
@KingKungFuCantona "Wasn't really his fault" To get some background about the very homophobic culture in Jamaica, a culture that shaped Shabba Ranks and Buju Banton, read the online article in the December 2010 Guernica Magazine article "Murder Music." There's a link to this article on my Channel Page. There's also some useful background information in the Time Magazine article "The Most Homophobic Place on Earth?" There's a link to this article on my Channel Page, too.
@Colenelnelson I feel sorry for him and for you - anybody whose life is being led by so much ignorance and hate must be a very weak and sad individual. Hopefully you'll both sort yourselves out eventually. Best of luck with one day becoming an acceptable member of the human race.
@bonjubs57 "Shabba Ranks was dropped by his USA Label " Shabba's apology cost him his fan base in Jamaica. I think he probably did himself in in the rest of the world Buju Banton also apologized in 1992, & is said to have nearly lost his life because of it when he went back to Jamaica. He retracted his apology. By the "Til Shiloh" album, Buju was off Mercury Records. Mad Cobra also put out an anti gay LP in 1989. The LP was retracted. His career tanked. Don't understand why Buju has a career.
@jtubebx1 It's not right!!! Period!! People of different races have different medical problems. So what! You cannot choose your race! Get over it! And yes people have been delivered from homosexuality!!! Leave me alone! I will not be convinced!
@raphithegreat dude you can't even spell multiplication properly. is that all that life is about to you? is so, im sure you will lead an interesting existence
At about 0:27 listen for the line "murder batty bwoy" in the clip of a live version of "Boom Bye Bye." Including this one, there are at least two live versions of "Boom Bye Bye" that contain the line "murder batty bwoy" on RU-vid. The version of "Boom Bye Bye" released on records in 1992, contains the line, in English, "they must be dead," clearly referring to gays. This line is repeated 10 times in the commercially released version of "Boom Bye Bye."
@jtubebx1 Just because it's physically possible does not mean one should do it!!!!! It will never be normal, it would never be right!! It's not homophobia, it's just plain wrong!!!
@bonjubs57 "Shabba Ranks was dropped by his USA Label because the majority of the people in the entertainment business is gay." Nonsense. Based on his appearance on "The Word," in this and other RU-vid videos, Shabba Ranks is his own worst enemy.
@y6010 "It's [homosexuality] against God's order, Mother nature, and the Universe!!!" "There is no such a thing as unnatural conduct. If something is physically possible it is very much within the laws of nature, and therefore by necessity it is natural." Quote from Udo Schuklenk, bioethicist, "Public Health Ethics and the Law of the Land," Developing World Bioethics, Volume 11 Number 1, April 2011.
