The Seven Rila Lakes are in the Rila Mountains in the western part of central Bulgaria, about an hour and a half drive from the capital city, Sofia.

Another great video! That hike up looked very strenuous - I think I'd be huffing and puffing all the way.

11. Don't swim in the lakes or go inside. Fines apply for people that do, as it interferes with the ecosystem. A bunch of Romanian tourists thought it was no different to the seaside a few months ago. There are a couple of local guards walking around though. They initially refused to pay the fines but they may have been stopped at the border later on.

This destination become too commercial last years. And this is not the best of Bulgarian nature, you haven't saw nothing at all :) You can see another nice lakes in the same mountain in my shortest possible video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UjfMUFlsxM0.htmlfeature=shared

We're sure there are many incredible places to hike throughout Bulgaria! We loved this hike at the Seven Rila Lakes. Thankfully, it wasn't too crowded when we were there.
