Hi, I love your recipe for bulgar,I'm British Pakistani and love Turkish food,,I tried making bulgar for the first time following your amazing recipe..and it turned out amazing. Everyone's favourite dish in my house..thank you for your amazing recipe. 😊😊😊❤
I used to eat this when I was a student in Ankara. When I returned home to Bosnia I could not find it in any restaurant. When I saw this I immediately made it because I had all the ingredients. It tasted just as good as in Turkey. Thank you Refika.
Choc Gazel😊. I met a Turkish Business couple in Cannakle, in Turkey in early 1989. I stayed with them for a speaking English Holiday. 😅😊 I loved them, their family, Turkish food, the people, culture and experiencing Ramadan and Pide bread as well as Turkish Halva. I wanted to return, but have not yet done so, due to many things.....getting a Degree as a Mature student etc. So when I watch your channel, at least I feel as though I'm back in Turkey for a little while 😊🎉. So thank you so much for bringing Turkey to me in the UK, which is so very different from Turkey 😅😂😢 ❤ 🤗 Thank you so much for inviting me into your home. Meeting your lovely friends. Hearing the lovely Turkish accent again and off course learning how to cook delicious and tasty Turkish food and Dishes x 😊 Mary
I just came back from Side, Turkey and I left with tears in my eyes ...I feel in love with the kindness of the people ,the beauty of the land and the very tasty food..I came home with change of my mood as I had some depression and anxiety...I went to the beach just about every day just to walk along the shore...I miss it so much..and one day I will hopefully go back..The shop keeper I got to know told me I was turning Turkish because I got a dark tan and loved the food..and I am a light redhead and came to Turkey very pail..and now my husband calls me a bulgar monster..LOL I think the Turkish are the masters of garlic..I do love garlic, and my husband does too.. Thank you for making these vids Refika!
Dear Refika I know this is an old video but I just wanted to let you know that I tried this recipe and it was an instant hit with my family and friends. I have made it so many times for Ramadan iftars and all other gatherings . My son said that it tasted same like in the restaurant ♥️ I have shared this video to everyone that asked me for a recipe . Thank you so much for sharing your secrets and helping us enjoyTurkish cuisine at home . Love from Canada ❤
I lived in Istanbul couple years ago and still to this day I am missing that amazing Turkish food. So thank you very much for all your recipes and tips! Cooking it at home brings back many great memories from Turkey and brings smile to my face. Greetings from Lithuania!
Oh my gosh Refika is such a wonderful person.... My grandmother recently passed away and she LOVED to make Turkish food her favorites were the Doner and the Baklava watching Refika makes my 17 year old heart fill with happiness and she has inspired me to go to culinary so i have all the gratitude in the world for this channel Çok teşekkür ederim Refika!!!!
I LOVE bulgur, it almost feels like the "wholemeal" version of rice. I ate it a lot as a rice substitute because it has fewer carbs, more protein and makes you feel full longer. It goes really good with creamy Greek yoghurt and roast chicken. I'll definitely try this recipe. Lots of Love from Sweden!
I was in turkey from September to Novembe, I miss it already, can't wait to go back. I miss my mom too, she passed last may, she made the best Bulgur pilav, Thank you for your special recipe, I will definitely try it.
I love tabouli and this is going to be on my table. I love the way you are so good at telling how to make things. Love from Florida, USA. Carlene Barber. I'm 79 and still enjoy cooking and baking. Just ordered a grain mill so I can make healthy bread for everyone.
since you introduced me to the delicious wonders of Turkish cooking, I tried making bulgar. My partner and I are totally hooked! We eat it twice a week now. I’ve always loved food from this part of the world, but Turkish is particularly delicious. You’ve really added so much flavor and dimension to our meals. Thank you. I cherish your videos. Be well. ❤️
I just cooked this for my family! I’m in Britain but have a Turkish mother and an English father. I grew up on Turkish food and I love your cooking and my family love Turkish cuisine. Healthy and tasty! Thank you for your inspiration 🥰
I'm Bulgarian komşu in Canada and I'm glad I found your Chanel today. I love that you have the ingredients and description on the bottom. I'm following! It reminds me on home with a little twist. I love Turkish food! ILOVE YOUR ENERGY!
Through these tough times my way of surviving is cooking for people who pay me and I make enough to pay basic bills. Your dishes are always a part of my menus and you make it so easy to try them they always turn out scrumptious x thank you 🙏 God bless you x I will make this next x
I LOVE this woman! she is such an inspiration;talented, strong, funny and good humored. She is kind (inviting everyone to visit on a trip to Turkey… and you can tell she means it!) intelligent and so giving. I have made the hummus with sumac and cumin and my little grandaughters loved it. trying the pilavi tonight! cannot wait
I went to Turkey for the first time two weeks ago and this was my favorite meal! Thank you so much for sharing!! Tesekkür ederim❤️ greatings from México🇲🇽
Using Bulgur, and indeed tasting it for the first time ever, I made this bulgur pilaf minus the pepper paste and dried mint, using red chilli powder and fresh mint instead! Everything else was as mentioned in Refika's recipe....and what a pilaf dish it turned out to be!! Wow!! Was just heavenly!! Thank you Refika! Loads of love from India!
Thank you, Refika! I’m learning about Turkish food and love seeing the city as well. The world is full of so many wonderful cultures and people. I wish humanity could learn the lesson that “different” DOES NOT mean “wrong.”
Reminds me of when my Anneanne used to make it except for the pickle juice. You really need the lemon to brighten it. It is still nice to see mint used properly.
I cannot eat regular rice anymore so i was looking for an alternative and stumble across this seemingly lovely lady, 😁what a beautiful addition to my cooking..thank you it turned out perfect....it was such fun cooking with you💃🏽💃🏽💯
Rafika hi, I am from India. We call this as Daliya. We add some lentils, and also add, peas and potatoes. We also make a sweet version of the same with sugar and Ghee and lots of dry fruits. But when we make the spicy one we add ginger garlic paste, some cloves. Pepper and cinnamon .
this is not Daliya Mr. Pant. I know Daliya and tasted it. Dalia and Bulgur both are similar in the sense that both are wheat-based whole grains. The difference is that Bulgur is mostly parboiled before drying and it retains a bite, while Dalia is soft and easier to digest. Turkish bulgur is the main meal ingredient while Dalia is mostly served as a breakfast item. I lived in india like 8 years, so i have the idea.. :) Thx.
@@evrensahin165 Daliya is broken wheat and we get it in many sizes. I mean the one which is thicker and the one which is fine. The thicker one takes a long time to cook. We make salty daliya where we add dals to it. We add vegetables like carrots, beans, onions, peas. This is had for lunch or dinner.
Every time I watch your recipe, I find a close relative of it in Indian cuisine. It just makes me say, what a small world! Pulao/Palav is a staple of Indian diet and watching the Turkish version of it was indeed a pleasure.
Both are asian cuisines. Turkic people had effects on Indian history too (like Mughals, which were Kipchak Turks apparently), so did Indians effected us back. Both are great nations and races with really long history and great cuisines. I mean in Turkish spice is called "Baharat" which derives from "Bhaarat".
I finally had time to make it this morning. It’s currently simmering and the whiff of mint when I checked it was heavenly. One tip about the onions. If you’re crying while cutting onions sharpen your knife. Your knife isn’t slicing through it but actually crushing it, releasing the chemical that causes crying.
My mouth started to water as soon as I saw you adding the water. I so wish I could be there! Since I have all the ingredients I prepared it. Yummy, yummy! The easiest and very delicious! I will prepare the pepper paste!
I’ve made this twice in the past month. I eat it with yogurt and pickle juice as Refika and Bahar recommend. It IS a bit of heaven on earth! Thanks for a great new recipe ladies🥰
High quality, thought out video. Primer on ingredient; its different forms and uses. Then a promising recipe including what to serve it with. What a great culture ambassador!
I love ❤️ this here in Quebec we have a Turquish restaurant Maison Istanbul I used to buy their bulgar pilaf very tasty 😋. Thank you 🙏 wait for more receipt . 🥰😍😘
I'm so glad to have found your channel! I'm from Lebanon and given common history, many of our recipes are very similar, including this one. We also eat tomato bulgur with yogurt! Will try your version, though, looks delicious
I love to see you cook you make it so easy for people who doesn't understand how to cook your culture food thank you it been a joy I could now cook this for my husband
I'm here because I l❤ve watching Turkish dramas. And whenever a dish is mentioned, I go to RU-vid and type in 'authentic Turkish' recipe of whatever. And your recipes Refika seems to be one of if not the most popular. I enjoy watching you and appreciate the family background of your recipes. More power and God bless what you're doing. Keep it up!! 👍🥳🎊 A fan from 🇬🇧.
I am indian who lived in israel for 6 years. I made this bulgur pilav very often- my recipe was a favourite among my friends too! My recipe uses little less onion and butter. And i used to add a tiny pinch of cinnamon powder towards the end like when its 80% done.
Wonderful präsentation and introducing in the secrets of the dish and culture. Great pictures and lovely guide through the preparation. Go on, everytime a big pleasure, many thanks from Germany and all the best, keep going
Assalamu Alaikum Rafiqa, I made the Bulgur pula I to with kofta for Iftar and Alhamdulillah my family loved it. Thank you so much for sharing all the mouthwatering recipes. Ramadan Kareem
I love that dish.It is delicious, I’m sure.Guys I really love your channel (I hope it will grow fast☘️🤞🏻) and your personalities.Greetings from Greece.
When I lived in NJ my Turkish friends cooked for me. But since I moved to Hawaii, good Turkish food is hard to come by. Since I found your videos they help me to cook my own great Turkish food. I love this recipe a lot. Simple, tasty and healthy! Thank you!!
@@rezaardavan8752 Well I wasn't exactly on vacation but on work. My project lasted 8 months and although I don't dislike British food it's not something I can eat everyday. My go to food was mostly Indian, Turkish, Lebanese and Thai. Turkish cuisine just stood out for me as healthy and tasty as well. Pity there were no good Iranian restaurants where I lived, have heard a great deal about the cuisine and would love to try it.
@@rezaardavan8752 British people also love to eat Turkish, Indian, Lebanese etc. foods, so it's no issue that he would choose it over British food. North London especially has great, authentic Turkish food and as a Brit, I eat there often 😋.
I just so love the happy energy the three of you bring to every vlog! Refika you need to google onion goggles. They work! No more tears! Another great recipe! Cheers from Canader eh!
Love the way you explain things around your recipes, ingredients, culture, language. Also, the recipes are so well presented that everyone should be inspired to try them out with success. You have a great personality and sense of humour. I will definitely watch more, and for now, start adding chickpeas and mint to my pilaf. Thank you!
@@Refika Just being yourself will do the trick, I suppose ;-) But I know a lot of effort goes into making a video like this, so teşekkürler to everyone involved!
Not only do you show us how to prepare delicious Turkish dishes, you also bring us your culture and depth of knowledge of the ingredients, all bundled in humour. I love your videos!
My grandmother was born in Kapadokia in 1928 but had to travel to Greece in 1934 due to population exchange. She was cooking that dish often, and me as a greek abroad i found myself missing my grandmas cooking just to run into your video! Thank you very much for the recipe and i am really hoping that the channel goes well! All the best!
@@ninelibass ah okay, well thank you. The reason I ask is because I took St. Arsenios of Cappadocia as my patron saint and he was in Pharasa until the population exchange. I'm always curious and eager to find out more about Pharasa and St. Arsenios, or Hajiphenteis, as some called him.
First time I ate this in Germany and then in Turkey. I loved this so much that I've bought a packet .. probably it's coarse type. Now I am watching this video to prepare this for the very 1st time. Thank you for the recipe😬😊. I loved Turkish cuisines and the place.❤️
We thanks you for all you do here , and ca-n learn this paradise food can i say ...all tine i come Istanbul i just go in Taksim it's a nice restaurant up for an amazing breakfast ...
I always order this when I get Turkish food because it's so simple and comforting - after I watched yours I went to the shop and got some coarse bulgur to make myself! In Brazil we have our everyday rice and beans but I prefer this one 10000%! Can you do a cig kofte recipe too pls pls pls? Thank you for the great recipes and your amazing energy
Çiğ köfte is realy hard. You can't make it at home and you have to get an education. (I'm turkish and I have to say most of the Turkish people can't do çiğ köfte. You can do this without education but it will not be good as other variant.)
I have made this twice now and we love it. I made kofta with it too and they were amazing. Thank you guys so much for sharing your time and fantastic recipes with us. Take care, stay safe and keep well from UK. Xxx
Rafika I love all your recipes 😍 I’ll definitely try this. My mother is Armenian she used to make it for my dad because he loved it. It was a little different but I can’t wait to make this for her to try. Thank you.
I found bulgar today in my local supermarket. I’m excited to try this recipe because I’m looking to incorporate more vegetarian dishes into my life. We all need to do our part in saving the environment. Thanks for sharing Refika!
My domestic partner and I love your videos. We’re in Rome, Georgia, USA. Though I’ve spent a lot of time in Greece (at the American School) I’ve not ventured to Turkey yet. Keep up the excellent work.
Your channel is full of bereket❤️ love you , your team, your videos, your kitchen, your tips to make things even better. I never thought I would be craving bulgur pilaf at 3 am but here we are!!!
