In this video I show the new Data Management functionality in Tokyo that enables you to bulk UPDATE records (tasks in this video) safely and effectively, and then even lets you rollback the updates! I did NOT use any scripting or programming to perform this bulk action. The next time you need to update some records in your instance, consider this easy to use feature instead of writing a fix script! #servicenow #tokyo #datamanagement #maintenance

Hi Justin, great video. I am trying to close a bunch of tasks. I’m doing it off the sc_task table but my tasks are not closing. Can this be done , should I do it in the task table? Thank you

Hi Darlene - first thank you for watching! Is there a required field for the tasks before they can be closed? That's be my first troubleshooting step. But to answer your second question, no you shouldn't need to go to the task table. You should be able to do it right from the extended table.

@@JustinMeadows thank you for your response. There is a required work note before a task can be close. So on the update I added the note field and added a note. I assumed that would work.

That makes sense. I'm trying to re-create your scenario in my instance. What criteria are you using to filter and select the right tasks to close?

Never mind, I'm able to reproduce what you're seeing. Not sure why it isn't working but I'm looking into it. Funny thing is, when I use the "update selected" it works but if I use the "data management" that I showed in the video it doesn't work. Weird...

@@JustinMeadows I experienced the very same thing. It doesn’t make sense y that it works one way and not the other. Thank you for looking into this. I’ve been scratching my head for a while now.
