I work for an estate sale company and we throw out about this much good stuff. Perfectly useable stuff to the landfill. So after I got a truck. I bring a TON to goodwill or leave out by my sidewalk for free.
That is why it so hard for some or many to declutter what they dont need cause they give value to stuff that can be replaced unless u have good reason to keep any. but sometimes if u know u used the item for so long and have no reason to keep then try donate or give to others to know it still gonna be used any. some rather just toss then to try give away for any reason.
Shame really as so much of that was still in good condition and could have been re-used but oh well, if it goes to an incinerator linked to a power plant at least the energy in it is getting used.
Peter i - i agree. Also many objects in full function been crushed. Just the owner don’t want it anymore, doesn’t mean any other can still use it. Completely waste of material resources and a waste of Human Resources !
Anonymous Please stop commenting on things you do not know. I’m in the waste industry and most of mixed refuse is actually landfilled/incinerated, without having recyclables separated.
Anonymous I am in the waste industry. *Most transfer stations DO NOT SORT MIXED WASTE* Very few in fact. You clearly do not know anything about this industry, most mixed waste is incinerated *unsorted*. In one of this channel’s other videos, he also clearly states this waste is sent to an incinerator *unsorted*. Key word there, *unsorted*
Anonymous FFS even scroll down and click on some of the replies from pistolcrossbow. He even says it’s all incinerated and any surviving metals that haven’t melted are removed and recycled.
A living example of the fact that we cannot save the world. Cardboard and recycling off to the incinerator just because its more cost effective than having a separate recycling truck.
Incinerator? Around here it’s all buried in the landfill, even with a separate recycling truck running the same route. People just don’t care to take the time to put recyclables into a separate bin.
I Remember those times too, They had a bulk waste pickup every 2 weeks for free en literally everything was put out for picup. Nowdays you have to book an pickup and if your lucky it's still for free but where i live must places you have to pay for pickup :(
I worked on one (Not the one in the video) and it indeed works very well. Over here we have bins that hold 5000 liters of trash and it always managed to to ''eat'' the contents fast. Even bulk items like couches or wood are no match for it.
Plastics to plastics, Paper and cardboard to paper and cardboard, Glass to glass Metals to metals. Non recyclable materials to cement kilns. Biodegradable materials to compost.
Sad to see someone's possessions being ruined. My neighbour got thrown out of her house. All her's and her children's possessions including computers and TV's crushed in a bin lorry like this. Nasty.
years ago there was one that went around civic amenity sites that I know as big bite & its job was compacting the contents of skips into the back ready for landfill , it was fun watching the hoist arm lift the skip up & empty the contents into the back until something snaps one of the pipes off & the wagons stuck there with a skip still attached to it cos it unable to lower the hoist arm
Incineration of that is a terrible idea. Very dirty energy. All that plastic burns with much soot residue. Doesn't burn clean at all. I have to think coal is a cleaner fuel than that.
@@Tiqerboy It indeed is, Not everything burns the first time it goes through the incinerator. about 30 kilometers from where i live is a sorting line where they sort out the metals after incineration but you can see the piles of ash from the road en there is a lot of unburned stuff within. The incinerator has filters build in so the soot and other harmfull fumes are not releashed in the air. it works pretty good actualy i think, There is a incinerator on a road where i regulary drive and on a cold day the only thing you see comming out the chimney is steam.
It just sounds like a ridiculously inefficient way to generate electricity. Sure the fuel is practically free but that's where it ends. The filters have to be cleaned periodically and the ashes are highly toxic and have to be buried. They would be far better off recycling. For electricity generation, solar is a much cleaner and better option. Maybe they don't get enough sun in the Netherlands to make it work well, though.
@@Tiqerboy They use the ashes in road construction to make asphalt if i remember. Pretty stupid i think, There is lead and other toxic chemicals and heavy metals in it that probarly spill out when it rains (And thrust me, It can rain a lot over here). Solar power is indeed much cleaner, The last years the have build a lot of solar parks over here in The Netherlands. They where waaaaaay behind in comparison with other European countries. They also build a huge wind energy park on the sea about 25 Km away from the shore. There is indeed not much sun here, But in the summer it can be pretty sunny and hot so there is a lot of energy generated. They actualy still have some coal power plants but they plan to shut most of them down because of the co2. And they do have a nuclear power plant but it's way to small for powering the whole country and a lot of people are against a new one.
The old man a few doors down died. His kids didnt like him and never visited. When they cleaned out his house they threw out absolutely everything. A lot of nice things. 2 - 40 yard dumpsters.
They did almost exactly the same here one day. They called the bulk waste pickup service and they just put everything on the curb for pickup. Almost everything was still good, The fridge had still ice in it, the lcd tv i took home also worked fine and many more stuff that was nothing wrong with like stereo's and furniture. Unfortunately i couldn't take everything with me. I only took all the appliances and metals.
@@pistolcrossbow What do you guys do if there is something you want to take home with you do you just leave it on the curb and pick it up after your shift?
@@Obnoxiouswolf2I did not work for them but i know their routes and the bulk waste pickup schedule so i went in the car and i always took the valuebles like metals, Stuff that was still working.
It is sad to see some of this just go to trash. I am sure it was still in very good condition ,and could still be used. People just don't care about things anymore. They say " Oh I will just get new ".
people don’t care abt the environment and spend spend spend on shit they use for one day, leave it in the dust then throw it out. 🙄🙄. I live in a upper class neighborhood and it pisses me off every garbage day to see how snooty people are just throwing perfectly good stuff away..
What a rip off. Over here in some cities you have to pay when you book a bulk waste collection. in most large cities and a lot of smaller ones it is still for free. I think if they make everyone pay they will just ditch their trash on the street, Especially in the large cities. where i live there are also special sites where you can sort your waste and put it in special containers like: Wood, Metals, Paper, E-waste etc.
If I see this I would also like to offer myself as garbage so that I myself also go with the garbage into the garbage truck I could go with you garbage if they come to hall it so crawl somewhere to join the garbage truck to go in and have me squeezed in with it along with the other garbage I think the press is so cool
What a SIN What this people do why they dint give away to families who can use it there is a LOT of necesity and poor very poor people with kids who can still use a lit of things in very good condition ehat is “trash” for some are blessings for others we should stop been selfish
Yes! Just pure greed and selfish people. If they can't sell the items they have then why not allow them to be used by someone else for free. Money to buy these items when new=wasted, production, use of resources to create=wasted, logistics to transports to shops=wasted!!!! Even this fuckin truck is wasted burning fuel to just destroy the items, dump it all smashed up and totally unusable then. Sad times man
Goeie ouwe tijde mis t wel vuilnisman zijn zo veel mogelijk ton verzamelen soms wel 12,5t met klep omhoog en desnoods nog t dak schot rechthouden heerlijk..🙏🏻
Think about all the time and effort it took to gather the raw materials needed to make these items, refine them, work them into usable parts, assemble them, and then ship them to stores. Then somebody spent money that they earned from trading in their time on this earth to purchase them, only for it all to end up smashed to bits, destined to be buried in a pit, never to be seen again or even recovered for re-use. Just gone forever. After all that.
Why not sell these very good things. For example books, tables, armchairs ..... Austria is not so wasteful. In addition, there are many poor people and children in the world who would enjoy the toys.
@@alfredtruchsess7605 i agree , i unfortunately have no control over what they do cause i don't live in the Netherlands I'm from the US. I always say to people instead of throwing your stuff into the garbage why not find people who could possibly repurpose it or use it for parts if it can be taken apart and used for repairing other stuff.
I watched the whole thing, tons of reusable things, but super satisfying :) I believe you mentioned that this was burned, I'm curious, what happens to the glass or clay that can tolerate the higher temps and do you generate power from the heat?
I don't know what they do with the clay and glass. Metals are sorted out afterwards in a special facility that can sort all types of metals like copper, aluminum, bras etc. Maybey the have a sorting line for clay and glass but i think it gets cruhed to powder and they will use it in construction applications. They indeed generate power in these incineration plants :D
@@pistolcrossbow very informative. Thank you sir! They use the ash for construction, never thought ash could be used in that type of matter, thanks :)
