I love this channel and the information we get on a regular basis. What is totally crazy, I was got married back in the day and was in Maui when this shark attack happened that Hal commented on. I was a surfer and so excited to go surfing again with my wife. She was new to this, and I learned how to surf way back when I first in Hawaii with my mum, I was 14 then. And then again when I was 16 yrs. old. To my surprise, I turned on the radio when this man was attacked and heard the story. I was nervous when I heard this and then before we went surfing, we went to the aquarium there and I saw a 15-foot Tiger shark they had in the tank. I was never that close to a shark and never, ever followed sharks before this. I was too scared to go surfing again and never went into the deep water again. I spent hours, from early morning to the late-night surfing. I had always felt bumps and nudges in the water in my days of surfing and never thought anything of it. I was from Seattle and never thought about sharks. It still to this day blows me away that people will go surfing and out into the deep waters where sharks live. NO THANK YOU!!

Great story, when you were bumped in the water, what did you assume it was at that time? After watching Hal for over a year I’m starting to get nervous about even going in waist deep water bc until I started watching this show I never realized how many attacks happen in shallow water! I really assumed I was safe bc I was in shallow water. Now I know that isn’t true so I’m a little nervous even in shallows now! I would love to learn how to Surf but not sure I could bc I’d be terrified the whole time of sharks! 😂

A shark doesn't have to be big at all to tear you up, or kill you. They've just got to hit an artery or take a bunch of flesh off of you. It's incredible how sharp their teeth are, even a little shark can cut through your bones like butter. I look at a lot of bite photos and we might as well be made out of jello when we come up against those teeth .

A young lady lost her life yesterday in Perth, Australia in the Swan river...attacked presumably by a Bull shark. She'd jumped off a jet ski to swim with dolphins and was attacked and killed. If a member of my family had been killed by a shark I don't think I'd be watching this channel.

Love your channel. I have a report for you. Yesterday on the 4th Feb, Stella Berry, a 16 yr old girl on a jetski, was with friends on the Swan River, Perth, West Australia, close to the mouth of the river (but not that close). She saw dolphins and jumped in to swim with them, even though in Australia they are protected, and not allowed to invade their space. The young girl was then attacked by what is believed to be a Bull Shark. Her legs were so badly injured she coudn't be saved. They say where there are dolphins there will be no sharks, but obviously that's not a guarantee. Maybe Dolphins tolerate Bull Sharks, I don't know Anyway we are waiting on confirmation of type of shark, maybe experts can see from bite wounds what type of shark it was. Will know more in coming days I'm sure. But was close enough to the mouth of river to possibly be another species. We shall see. RIP Stella, a sad loss to WA, a sand groper in heaven now, another star in the sky.

A 16 year old Australian girl Stella Barry was killed by a bullshark just days ago. She was extraordinarily unlucky. She was actually in the Swan River outside of Perth, on jet skis with her friends, when she saw a pod of dolphins, and jumped in to swim alongside them. For me, that’s the most heartbreaking detail. Such an innocent soul. It’s the first fatality in the Swan River for over 100 years, which adds to the tragedy, and over 2km from the ocean Stella’s death was witnessed by her friends, and a young man dived into the water to try and save her, but sadly Stella died before reaching the shore. I can’t help but wonder what reasons a Bull Shark would stray from the ocean so unusually, compared with history of the area.
@SharksHappen
@SharksHappen Год назад
Is like any brackish waters. The smaller bulls prefer mild brackish waters but larger bulls like ocean salinity. The tides probably push sea water miles up that river twice a day. Is close enough to the ocean that it could be other species also

That of Jessie Arbogast who was with his aunt and uncle. Now that is a crazy story! Long story short. A bull shark attacked him and the uncle wrestled both Jessie and the shark to shore. Life flight took Jessie to the hospital, his arm bitten off. A ranger then shot the shark pulled the arm out of its mouth an ambulance drove the arm to the hospital where they reattached it. Jessie survived unfortunately with some brain damaged from lack of blood. In response to the colour ability of sharks, I recall information from a book that mentioned that totally colourblind people were used as recon photo specialists in the war because of their pattern and detail recognition abilities were vastly superior in picking out details in the photo’s that colour abled people just couldn’t. I think it was an Oliver Sacks book.
