Bullet Train
The Shinkansen is known in English as the bullet train, is a network of high-speed railway lines in Japan. Initially, it was built to connect distant Japanese regions with Tokyo, the capital, to aid economic growth and development. Beyond long-distance travel, some sections around the largest metropolitan areas are used as a commuter rail network, It is owned by the Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency and operated by five Japan Railways Group companies.
Its speed is 250km t0 500km/hour.
Shirakawago
(i) Shirakawa-gō (白川郷, "White River Old-District") is located in the village of Shirakawa in Gifu Prefecture.
(II) The name “Shirakawa-go” first appears clearly in history in around 1176. The name is thought to have been in wide use at this time as it appeared written in the diary of an aristocrat living in Kyoto. Following this, the name has made a large number of appearances throughout the history of Japan.
Japan houses several entities that show their old traditions and culture from centuries ago
Declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995, they are famous for their traditional gassho zukuri farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old. Gassho zukuri means "constructed like hands in prayer", as the farmhouses' steep thatched roofs resemble the hands of Buddhist monks pressed together in prayer.
(III) . The Shirakawago Light-up event is held for six (6) days only during the most beautiful season of the year when snow piles up to approximately 2 meters.
(IV) This mountain hamlet is one of the snowiest spots in Japan - and the world. Shirakawa-go, which literally translates to "white river village," can receive nearly 400 inches of snow annually (that's around 33 feet).
(V) Breathtaking, serene, and charming, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is worth making a trip there!
Shirakawa-go was selected as an important traditional building preservation district in 1976, and was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Important Information
(I) Everything is in within walking distance.
(II) It only takes 2 to 3 hours to visit the whole village.
(III) Non-open houses are private property. Please do not enter.
(IV) Do not walk while smoking. Please smoke only in the designated areas.
(V) The heritage museum is 300 yen per person.
(VI) There are no trash cans in the village. Please keep your trash with you.
(VII) Sightseeing vehicles are not allowed to enter in the area from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
(VI)Taking the dinner at a restaurant, named Hakusuien.
(VII) Shopping from local souvenir shops.
Kanazawa
Kanazawa shi) is the capital city of Japan's Ishikawa Prefecture.
The name Kanazawa is derived from the following story: A peasant named Imohori Togoro made his living digging potatoes. He washed gold dust from the potatoes into a well, now called Kinjo Reitaku, so the area was named Kanazawa, meaning 'marsh of gold.
13 Often compared to Kyoto (though significantly smaller than the ancient capital), Kanazawa is renowned for its impeccable geisha and samurai districts, the iconic Kenrokuen stroll garden, and its wonderful cuisine - including some of Japan's highest-quality seafood .
