Let's start by turning those assumptions into questions so I can respond with some more details. 1. Does the phone slide in the clamshell mount? Negative, the clamshell is a very strong holder and between the grip in the holder and the cases we run on our phones, nothing is slipping regardless of how bumpy of terrain we drive on. You have bigger issues to worry about if you managed to make your phone slide in the mount, like your car flipping end of end at high speeds but who needs a phone at the point, amiright? 2. Does the phone swivel on the mag safe magnet? Again, between the grip on the magnet holder, the strength of the magnets, and the grip of the case I am using (Rebel phone case which has a rubberized back), the phone remains in place. I've used similar magnet mounts like the Niteize socket and the phone definitely swiveled since there was limited grip. There's plenty of grip to keep the phone in place with the magsafe mount. 3. Why did you go with a conventional mount versus the ones with integrated charging? My truck runs Uconnect 4 which means Carplay requires the phone to be plugged in for Carplay to function so purchasing a mount with an integrated charge is redundant since my phone is always plugged in for Carplay. If I was running Uconnect 5 I would for sure go with the magsafe mount with the integrated charger from Bulletpoint. 4. Have you considered other mounts like Proclip and RAM? YES! I actually ran the Proclip for a long time, installed it a few weeks after I bought my truck. It was a great mount for a single phone. I gave it to my dad and he runs it in his Limited. I wanted to try something new and wanted the ability to mount multiple devices/accessories (for future mods) above the dash which the Rubigrid kit allowed. As for RAM, all of their mounts are mechanical mounts (device clips in) and there are no vehicle specific mounts. Also, they do not have a magnet mount. I'm in and out of my truck quick a bit and wanted the easy of the magnet mount (which by the way, does slip or allow the phone to swivel!). I do use a RAM mount for my fish finder though! Hope this helps clarify things for you!
