How much spine movement do you get in your weekly training? 'Become More Flexible & Less Stiff in Just 15 Minutes a Day" available for free on Kindle starting June 13 ► t.ly/0KJma
You guys have the best bodies! I love your channel, this is exactly where I want to get physically (well a female version) - great balance of mobility, strength, functionality 👌👌👌
I am 34 years old, 6.5 and about 260lbs. Struggled with back pain for about 5 years in my late 20's. When I started training my core, glutes and incorporated spinal movements into my workouts, the improvements were ridiculous. From severely pinching a nerve 8-10 times a year, I went down to 0. Even for heavy big dudes like me,this is something essential which should be emphasized and taught more nowadays. Especially with most of us sitting in front of a desk all day. Keeping the spine straight, using a standing desk and so on won't bring the improvements many of us are looking for. So thanks for this video! As informative and professional as always.
You’re going to cure me. I started doing dead hangs (currently only doing it with my feet flat). I instantly got a fever the day after. Many will think it’s crazy. But that’s me healing. In the past, when I used to do cupping, I would get a fever. When I would do a good dry needling session, I would get a fever. A good adjustment = fever. Now stretching in places that I am stiff in and is prohibiting me from becoming my full potential, I got a fever. Before I started ANY treatment (I didn’t get sick for almost 6 years). Now that my body is releasing toxins, I am getting a low grade fever. My regenerative medicine doctor tells me this is great. I have also met people with the same conditions and they have said they noticed the same change. Thank you for the time and effort
I've watched this a few times since you posted it. I'm 82 years old & although I do have my own exercise/flexibility/ movement routine I'm always positive about trying anything that might help me improve. Would probably not have occurred to me to try the wall spinal exercise you show but I did & found I can do it straight off the bat so now I practice it away from the wall & it feels great. 👍
I recently was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc. However, my Chiropractor gave me the go ahead to keep training using my best judgement. I love to work my spine as I was born with scoliosis and a T neck, so now I work my spine more than before. Cat Cow, Dog Downward, Thread the needle for my wing scapula and others. Congrats on your book and Thank you for the information. Also, Happy Father's Day.
Always appreciate the new info guys!! Currently working in rehab and I almost lost touch in flow movement and flexibility training since we work on stability and strengthening! Now to combine the two in my own process!
Can’t wait to read the book and super awesome that you are sharing it for free! Ido Portal was my inspiration for movement training and ultimately what led me to finding the strength side channel.
I've never really thought of training my spine and it really makes sense. Some of the exercises you demonstrated , I do already....it didn't occur to me as spine exercises. You guys are very inspirational!
Thank you! I have been on my own discovery of these principles. Healing up from injuries motivated. Your focus helps me refine and now expand upon the insights.
Rotational arm swings. I'm really enjoying this pattern: right hand palm brushes across the pecs moving past the left shoulder, then the arm straightens and swings across the chest backhanded, which flows into the left hand initiating, and comes back the opposite way, and then loops for as long as you like. I can either allow my spine to move with the rotations, or keep it in place whilst everything moves around it. I enjoy both variations, but the spine movement feels more fluid and my body seems to be vibing with it a bit more.
Great Video as always . Thanks for sharing . I went straight to the Kindle App and put the book in my reading list. Good stuff , keep up the good work your amazing
This is huge!!! Thank you! Yes, I am flexing the spine - it is a direct consequence of watching your videos. :) Swinging a rope, 1-handed crab, all kinds of rotations (not all are pretty... :) ), etc. Whatever I can think of and can do it slowly (after all, it is a spine). I'll happily check out the book, but knowing you wrote it I can already guess at the comments it will receive. :) Thanks again and as always... :)
As a person who was not very physically active until my teenage years, I noticed that despite of years of weight training the first time I really started to become athletic was when I picked up boxing. Now watching this video I realised how much spinal movement is involved in martial arts. I would really suggest starting to train that for overall fitness. You train cardio, coordination, reaction, mobility at a high intensity at the same time.
Please also note these verses from the Bible: "for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come" - 1. Timothy 4,8 "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul?" - Mark 8,36+37 Repent and believe in Jesus Christ to receive forgiveness of your sins and eternal salvation. God bless
From my point of view the best exercises were turkish sitting and slavic squats. I had a bad hips movement ,that stiffness affected on my back part of spine, muscles on back tried to take over the work of the hips work during movement. Lucky for me i was patient with that particular exercises, breathing methods and ofc mobility exercises from your channel. Some of them are very useful for me and which suprised me, they are part of combat training for wrestlers for example. Thank u for that channel cuz u are doing great job and u all stay healthy and don't give up! :)
Hello guys , how do I buy the book in UK please. Your got my attention on Yorkshire, love your philosophy 🙏 Keep on keeping on , as we say in Northern England. Best regards John
0:10 wow, Weck method enjoyer here. Connor from Assassin's Creed 3 also moves by weck method. and now I'm so much power and expressiveness in this type of movement. like a beast
I've got your rotational spine exercise: swimming. Next up how about a story on practical weight lifting? I started working out with a 10 lb sledge hammer after breaking some concrete with it. Guess what? The weight is awkward and hard to balance, which is great for me to push core strength and stay balanced while working a range of motion.
I wasn't able to hit a casual "zone 2" pace swimming until the guy in the next lane told me to rotate more, and I went from being exhausted after two laps to being able to just keep swimming. And it exercised my spine.
Kettlebells or a heavy water bag is awesome for this stuff. But I don't like the eccentric clubs and hammers and "viking" roleplay aesthetic lol. The water bags give you an extra layer of instability sloshing around while keeping the whole bag still or moving. Sand bags can be a good middle ground.
As someone who has now discovered I'm hypermobile with lordosis , i watch this with envy. I'll try and find a way to modify it so that i don't cause more trouble for myself.
There seems to be a bit of disconnect between those advocating for hip hinging and for spinal movement and flexibiltiy (not you guys!), where only one option exists. Both need to happen. And being flexible through a system doesn’t have to mean it is not a controlled movement. Goal is to be BOTH strong and flexible through all ranges of motion! Great vid!
Great stuff. After seeing Mark Wildman's videos, I purchased the basic Kettlebell course and I'm using the Big Boy size Kettlebells at 75 lbs or 34.5 Kilos. But my knees are getting creaky from doing them even though I love to do them.
Impressive. Would really appreciate seeing even more regressions appropriate for those rehabbing a herniated disc, to desensitize the fear of movement. The first thing docs will tell patients is, "No bending, twisting reaching," 🙄
Always had mild scoliosis and now found out i have a herniated/bulging disc. Told by chiropractor to avoid any flexion as makes the disc bulge worse. Should i be working towards Jefferson curl etc Very contradicting advise out there .. Should such things as deadlift and squats should be avoided ?
I have Herrington rods running the length of my thoracic spine from a scoliosis fusion 18 years ago. Any suggestions on how to keep a flexible spine when 75% of my spine is completely rigid?
Is it possible to play a sport like soccer and at the same time build a good looking physique and be flexible and able to move the body freely without stiffness and other problems that comes with sports and building a physique?
The spinal wave motion reminded me of a rare form of taichi I heard about many years ago called snake taichi. A quick search and this is looks like something like it ... Spinal wave: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lzd1Bg8NxBA.html Head over foot: ru-vid.comRbWsuSYc4aI
Training spine movement and flexibility is awesome, but training it for strength in spine movement is something you should really only do under supervision from a doctor. Spine movement while running, what you see in animals, is NOT under load. Don’t confuse running or mobility with strength. ABSOLUTELY train your spine for flexibility. But please, please seek out a doctor or sports trainer you trust when putting any load on a curved spine. Messed up disks are forever.
And the proof is that many/most Body Builders, Power Lifters, and Olympic Weight Lifers become train wrecks as they age out. Animal Flow for overall, Kettle Bells for functional strength. 68, look good, feel great and enjoying my best life.
of course spine need to move. otherwise spine will be a big piece of stronger tougher bone instead multiple small pieces of bone connected together. evolution show the way nature works
But mobility and flexibility are not strength under load. You can EASILY get injured when loading a curved spine and compacting a disk. That is FOREVER. Please consult an actual doctor or sports trainer to put your spine under load in flexion. Even in nature, animals STIFFEN their core when going for any power movements. Running and sprinting is not a power movement.
