In this video I talk to a bullion dealer about mistakes that silver stackers make when buying silver and gold. Some of the silver stacking mistakes include buying the wrong type of silver and gold as well as investing in silver at the wrong time. If you want to invest in silver and get the greatest returns then you need to avoid certain types of silver. I love talking to coins shop owners about silver stacking and the type of silver that are better then others. This coin shop owner tells it like it is and says things that other coin dealers won't say. Not all silver is good for stacking and not all gold is good for stacking. Harry's honestly is something he should be very proud of. He could have sold the young couple all the gold or silver they wanted and make few bucks but instead he told them about all the risk/ rewards and it wasn't a good investment for the down payment of a new home purchase. Harry is one good egg in my basket.

Harry wins in the end because people WANT to buy from someone who they don't have to worry about getting ripped off. Same for mechanics. I take my broke car always to the shop that is honest and won't rip me off. The word spreads and they get the most business always!

I must disagree with Harry with regard to stacking gold bars. It seems everyone is focussed on a future dollar value that may be realized should someone decide to "sell" their bullion bars, coins, nuggets, jewellery or whatever. The purpose of stacking is not as an investment to be realized in dollars as gold and silver ARE the money. Remember that if gold is "worth" 25,000 dollars per ounce than the dollar isn't "worth" very much as it obviously has no purchasing power at that point. The point of stacking is for the long term protection of your savings. Gold is gold and what really matters is how many ounces you hold in whatever form. Same goes for silver.

In my area there is a stronger argument for bars than coins, dealers trust packaged bars from certain companies, especially if you have the purchase proof, they don't trust coins and don't have a machine to test them

curious about the whole "bartering" angle to stacking .. if things have gone that horribly wrong standard currencies have obviously failed, but, why would silver have any value? .. im sure the value of metals is more resilient than some currencies but dont get that aspect of it

There's 50% capital gain on stocks and investment funds in canada...so I'll take my bet on metals and the paper to silver ratio....alot of people are going to be mad when they figure out that got every 400 paper contracts only 1 person has actual silver...the rest going to be left holding the empty bag so what you say about that

Great video. Keep it simple. Gold bullion coins, silver eagles, sovereign coins, rounds. Constitutional coins. Grading for numismatics or error coins.Dont get hooked on series silver coins.Keep silver bars small. These will sell.

I don't think it is a mistake for a house, because the prices on houses bottomed out in 2011 which "coincidentally" was the last peak for silver at nearly $50 an ounce.

I don't believe gold bars are a bad investment I would suggest that gold coins are a better investment than bars. As long as the price of gold keeps going up an investor should be fine owning bars.

So what is the point of having a gold bar if you're saying it's not going to even hold up on spot price what is the point of having a spot price to begin with? So if it's not worth the dealer paying full spot for it and it certainly not worth the seller to lose money on the gold bar either. Then what's the point of any of this transaction? Spot price should be standard lcss should be your go-to places for these transactions and there should be a better way to compensate the LCS employees and owners so they can obtain at least spot price for customers.. and why spend an extra 30 to $40 for name brand gold coin when most likely you're not going to get any of your premium back on that either . Lcss don't want to pay what they should because it's not worth it for them to which I say they should find another profession and maybe we should find a better Hobby

Well explain thank you for bringing up this video Financial education is indeed required for more than 80% of the society in the country as very few are literate on the subject. The value of the US dollar is declining due to inflation, but it is increasing in comparison to other currencies and commodities such as gold and real estate. Sorry. I disagree 110% on the gold bars. I buy Valcambi 1 oz gold bars and others in bulk packs of 25 and sell them daily here in my shop. Gold bars are 24K pure gold, you can sell them to jewelers, dealers or anyone wanting pure gold. Krugerrand, Eagles, etc. limit you not to mention Krugerrand are the worst selling coins in my shop when it come to Gold. I mean no disrespect and love you guys but this gives new meaning to "There is an old adage: opinions are like arseholes - everybody has one, and they all stink." I just check the refinery I deal with and they are paying above spot for Pamp and Valcambi and spot for other brands. Anyway, different strokes for different folks I guess. So, you are a reseller with a shop and a lot of liquid capital. Why would you think his advice is for you? You buy in bulk and then you resell higher then you pay because you can buy bulk. That's not the case for the average person. If they could why would they deal with you? I would even bet you do the literal thing he warns about and you pay under spot or at spot for those trying to sell to you i.e. his target audience. And if you are not, then congratulations on being in the minority of "honest" sellers, but I doubt it. . Ironically, I actually also believe gold bars are a good investment long term and that, for the US at least, there are better coins than the Krugerrand. It's just that I could feel the smug oozing in your comment and it annoyed me so I had to respond. *insert softening phrase(s) here*.

The buy price or sell price of gold isn't much of a concern, it's the percentage difference between the two that matters most. And, bars will always hover very close to spot, while coins can at times drift. Meaning, someone who bought a gold bar two years ago for +3% versus an eagle at +10%, is doing better today selling a bar at -2% under than if selling an eagle at +1% over.

In the early 60’s you could get uncirculated Morgans at the bank for $1 each. He has two rolls of 1884 O from then. That is just nuts to me.

Don’t be confuse buying the dip in a bear market, with guaranteed future returns. Just because that company is down 60%+ from ATH does NOT make it a sound long-term investment. Make sure you’re investing in great companies. kudos to Lorett Logan

Gold and Silver are "outside the system" savings accounts for me and only buy on huge dips like we have seen recently. Buying Gold and Silver keeps me from spending money on silly and unnecessary purchases. Holding physical Gold and Silver allows me to quickly pull in emergency needs and sell at my LCS and walk away with cash when needed. Not looking for it to moon and get rich off the purchases

I dislike the way he's talking about sending go to the melter as if it's worthless scrap metal... I'm pretty new at this but isn't spot price the melted price? To me spot price means the bottom line value of the metal content because it is the destruction of any other valuable features it had.

Yankees seems to be more towards buying bullion for weight, Dragon seems to be more like collectibles,slabs, my opinion.its whatever your looking for. The main thing is do your research and what's best for you😊

When a dealer dislikes a product, it always means it doesn't have a good margin on his part of the transaction and probably is the way to go for the other side of the same transaction which is the customer side 😂.

I love trading paper money for real money precious metals silver & gold is true wealth for my portfolio!!! I have no regrets stacking tons of silver & little pre-33 gold it’s awesome investment for the future. It’s awesome way to be in control of my own saving accounts instead of the banks making money of the interest on my hard working money. I have learn to pay all my bills first & put food on the table & extra money buy some silver or gold & put aside for my retirement or rainy day just in case I ever need to sale couple ounces to fix my house or emergency. 🥈🥇🥈

Great video I hope stackers that are not new already knows that places pay spot or below and ppl saying silver is silver that's not true bullion yes but vintage collector pieces are worth more like several shops I know was charging $10 to $14 over spot for A mark bars and others cause something's are low Mintage and highly wanted like rare or low Mintage coins and ppl are buying them up cause they like it in places online. However I bought cheap so no way to loose but I'm definitely going to sell some of the premium pieces and buy more plan gold or silver for weight and I will definitely keep my rare coins there will always be collectors no matter what it's a hobby remember when silver dropped down to $15 then jumped over $30 so doubling money just gotta be careful and wait for the dip if you want to buy and make a few bucks.. It's a great hobby and I hope it doesn't turn back into a dying hobby 😏.. The only way I would buy $10K of silver all at once, only if there was a very significant drop in the price of silver, that would unlikely never happen again! For example if it dropped $10 under spot overnight, sorry Harry and Silver Dragons, I would take my chances and back the truck up for that gift horse!!!! 🐎😂

I think it probably is true that bars are bad if you're going in with cash depending on where you live. Unfortunately, depending on where you live buying online especially you get the illegal tax hose if you buy anything other than bullion 😅 That seems to just be getting worse over time. I'd theoretically rather take in an untaxed round and work on a cash tradesy for the taxed whatever I actually wanted on pullbacks but maybe that's just me. If you live in one of the great constitutional states that don't create illegal tax burdens on bullion of any type than ok whatever.

Is it worth it to get plastic capsules for silver coins? Seems like for gold it might be a good idea but if you're only ever going to get spot price or less when you sell something (gold or silver) without numismatic value, why go to the length of putting it in plastic?

bars are great and ez one can call the company that the bar is from and read the serial number and they will tell you on spot if its real or not!without removing plastic!!!

Thanks for the good information. Just to add my opinion: there actually is ONE time when spending your IRA on gold makes sense -- but it does not apply to everyone. If you are past retirement age but still earn regular income, the government says you must make yearly Required Minimum Distributions from the IRA account ... so if you don't need the RMD to live on, withdraw it, and roll it over into metal. Previously it was just a number in an IRA account, and now it is a lovely Buffalo in your herd.

As always good information. I agree that there is a difference between collecting/stacking. Have some "collecting " favorites, but concentrating on stacking generic rounds. Thanks again for the info guys always good to see a shop visit.
