Already an impressive cargo bike, the Milk Plus becomes the talk of the town after installing a mid-drive motor. With the addition of a 1000 watt Bafang motor, the rider can load up on kids, groceries; whatever their lifestyle depends on! What a cool setup, thanks for sharing it. Nice attention to detail with the hose clamp coverings - I bet it protects the frame's paint too. By the way I bet if you put BBSHD in the title more people will find this video.

Mounting plates and batteries vary from model to model. Modification may or may not be needed.

I’m interested in converting a bullitt in this way, but wonder if it’s possible to rotate it motor upward so that the main motor is inside the frame instead of beneath it. I live in Mexico and the streets are full of speed bumps, making the underside clearance a big concern. Also would the Bfang kit be compatible with a Gates carbon drive?

I just finished installing my own but really the only way is to mount it motor-down. Some benefit is that at least it's close to the rear wheel so the breakover angle isn't nearly at the worst point under the BB. You could build a strike guard around it, either clamping to the down tube or if you find someone who can weld to Aluminum...

I have not tested it for this application, but there is a chance the CYC x1 Pro might fit over the tube. Otherwise, for the BBSHD, @jcwms17 is correct, only way is on the bottom side

It's not about the wattage for me. What these after market Bafangs don't offer, is a torque sensor, so they can never compete with the Bosch's and the Shimano's. Then again, you can't even buy the Bosch or Shimano separately, nor have the option to fit them in a standard frame, so there's that 😢

anything is possible... but it may be more involved than you are wanting to get into. What is the purpose for the trike? There are cargo trikes out there you can get your hands on that were purpose built already.

Why not just file down some of the excess material on the 'ear' that receives one of the two M6 mounting plate screws? Hand file carefully at an angle and you still lave loads of material left to secure the motor. Use a sharpie to darken the bare alloy back up and only you know what you did to fit the motor smoothly in without any disassembly of the motor or horrifying grinding on the frame. this is the most common way to fit an HD onto a Bullitt.

We have filed a bunch of them and spent a lot of time on it, before realizing all we had to do was crack the motor and bolt it back together again. It sounds like you are experienced doing these, are you in the conversion market... as in a business?
