Miami Heat beat the Bulls in a prior game by 25 points earlier in the season (without Pippen) and also called this game a statement game. However, Michael Jordan was the one who made the statement with 37 points. Scottie Pippen added 19 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds.

First of all....how super duper rare is it to hear Kevin Harlan commentating in the back end of the Bulls dynasty....it seems surreal, almost like filling the gap between then and now with his over the top sensational commentating and zeal.
@davd1986
@davd1986 15 лет назад
WOW, just WOW. I realize these are only highlights, but you can just see how much better the bball that the Bulls played then than a lot of teams do today (if not all). I mean, you have excellent, excellent team defense, MJ, Pippen and Kukoc showing their usual offensive prowess, Kerr with one or two passes, Rodman dominating in defense, etc... No wonder they won 72 games in 1996 and again won a championship in 1998. Comparing this team to the teams of today, no comparison, in my opinion.

If the NBA wants better ratings and more fans they should allow much more physicality out of teams, not fights, but more banging and showing true passion for the game and willing to do what you have to do to win the game especially when the playoffs roll around. Let them push and shove, let them get in each others face and push and committ hard fouls (to an extent) I just think it would be better for the NBA.

@boogieloo1831
@boogieloo1831 5 лет назад
ThatNewPimpTrickGangstaClickAlbum GonnaBeThatFire - exactly. Media is so dishonest today. Lbj may have gotten to the finals 8 times in a row but he was on two superteams with three prime superstars while facing not one competitive team. Not one competitive team in the East. His delusional fans say Jordan never played a gsw while ignoring the fact that's he had a literal free pass to the finals. Jordan had to face countless tough teams to get there. There is simply no comparison. The NBA let Lbj get there without any difficulty with his superteams. It's pathetic. Of course he chokes in the finals - he never has to face tough competition before he gets to the finals so he doesn't know how to compete. Lbj wins a Championship playing one tough series (finals) Jordan wins championships playing 4 tough series - the entire playoffs. No comparison.

Count the highlights on this video how many times there was handchecking & elbow tapping. Todays players like harden will milk 50 free throws a game
@boogieloo1831
@boogieloo1831 5 лет назад
Get Off This Rock Travel - definitely. Jordan was number 1 in free throws back then and averaged 7 or so per game. Harden has averaged 11 per game in some seasons. And if you look at Jordan's era, the top free throw shooters except for MJ were all big men - today's soft rules and open paint allows perimeter players to score easily and dominate the ball which is why they shoot so many more free throws today. Back then, the game was much more physical, was much less regulated by restrictive rules and just tougher all around.

Everyone who mentions how Scottie made it easy for Jordan never considers how easy he made it for Scottie. Speaking of people who don't know what they are talking about Pippen was not the ultimate team player, just a good one. He really did not even have more assists than MJ. Pippen's greatness was he was the most dangerous transition player in the league, even more than MJ. He prospered with MJ and Grant/Rodman and stalled with grinding post players. What would Pip do without them?

jordan, as doc said, is the best post player in the game, probably in the history. he has 9 fadeaway shots made in this game alone, which is insane for a guy his size. if i remember it right he was very hot and has a pretty good shooting %. also funny to see that celebration by kline throws mj off a bit hahaha. i think randy brown did something just like that to him before and he reacts the same. at this stage jordan is very calm and keep his composure well.

The more TALENTED team doesn't always win. Cohesiveness, hard work, consistency and intelligent game planning play a HUGE part. My point is that the Heat had a decent shot at beating this team, a team that no doubt is superior in pure talent. The Heat would outplay, and outwork the Bulls for stretches, but wouldn't do it consistently enough from quarter to quarter, game to game, to beat the Bulls in a series.

Maybe that's the reason I just can't find NBA ball as fun to watch as when I was a kid in the 90s. There were more good teams than just a few like today. Almost every team had at least one superstar on it which made for better competition. These days if you are not one of about 4 teams, you don't stand a chance in hell at even making it to the finals.

Jaboo is right, MJ said that back then. If you look at Rodman's rebounding numbers and recall some of the games he played with Pippen out, it's not hard to believe that he was the team MVP. Of course we all know that Rodman would never get credit for that from the league. He had no chance of becoming Finals MVP in 1996, but there are quite a few people who think he should have won. Then there's the HOF exclusion. It's inexcusable, really. The keep him out because of his personality. Oh well.

The showed nearly no basketball in Australia before Jordan. During Jordan it was all over the place especially after they won the title. Dedicated shows during the week and weekend covering the games and so on. Now in the 2000's we basically see nothing on free TV. I don't know for sure, but I'd bet that this is the same thing that happened in many other countries too, so as far as I'm concerned it was only Jordan that brought the NBA to the world stage.

Every single name you just brought up has said on either TNT or NBA TV that Michael Jordan is the best of them all. Scottie Pippen also said after the fact that what he meant was that Lebron James would have more numbers than Jordan at the end due to Jordan's shorter playing career. Barkley did say McHale, but that was about the PF matchup. We get it that you hate Jordan and the Bulls already!
@MrCrushus

I dont know who you are quoting i didnt say they would destroy them. But I do enjoy basketball, and part of enjoying basketball is comparing great teams. Its clearly not true to say something like "people get bigger, stronger and faster" in every sport. Enormous over generalisation. Jordan would have been just as athletic as anyone in todays NBA and as seen by his ability to play as many seasons as he did with barely any games missed, he is clearly more durable than nearly all of todays players.
