He isn't a homosexual. He was playing to an 80s stereotype with his character. He used to live with a FEMALE hairdresser (ten years ago) on the corner of my street in Doncaster. To be fair, he's a nice bloke. Always said hello when I walked by with the dog. He did a fair bit for charity in my town too.
It’s important that we know who he sleeps with, so thanks for that. Just think how many boys grew up in the 80’s who were gay and naturally effeminate, who saw this clown making fun of the way they were. Everyone laughing. It’s no wonder so many topped themselves. Thank Christ we’ve moved on since then.

To say his only catchphrase was "chase me!" Does him a disservice though. Some of his other catchphrases included "nyum nyum nyum", "tell Sid I came" "this is mahhh fav-rit show" as well as chase me, according to older versions of his Wikipedia page....dunno how they got there :-p
He didn’t get 20 on third round, it was a 1. And based on what announcer said, he should have had 3 more darts. Bowen got panicked when Norvelle got the treble 20. Costing the show too much lol.
@alanlovechild You're confusing Duncan Norvelle with Joe Longthorne! Duncan doesn't have cancer. Sadly, Joe Longthorne does, but is battling it. I see the error though, similar people, similar era.
best joke i ever heard about Duncan Norvell is when Steve Coogan performed as Paul Calf and said 'Eee he's funny that Duncan Norvell - he's got this catch phrase that goes - Chase me, chase me - which funny enough changes when you set an Alsatian oh him to 'Fucking hell, Fucking hell - not me face!!! which i prefer' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Back in the day, when I was a child, this kind of 'act' was seen as inoffensive. Fortunately, in this day and age, a heterosexual man who acts as an exaggerated, flamboyant homosexual is not tolerated.Quite frankly, I lost count of the times during high school (long before I realised I was sexually attracted to men) that some youngster, who thought he was being clever and funny ran up to me saying "Chase me, chase me !"
@@carlix8035 David Walliams is a naturally camp man in real life, anyway. I was subjected to years of other kids shouting Duncan Norvelle's catchphrase at me before I even knew who I was myself, so I am talking from my own painful experiences.
@@LeFouGallois I met Matt Lucas for real about 4 years ago. He was doing some voiceover work at the studio I was at. He confirmed it was an act and that in everyday situations he isn’t anywhere near as camp as he portrays himself in front of the cameras. I wasn’t trying to take away from your genuine childhood trauma. I was just pointing out that that type of “act” has still been plodding along albeit with a different face and a different style of humour. Norvelle is from a different crueller past world. Being gay or camp or both is nothing to be ashamed of and rightly shouldn’t be a target for mockery and ridicule. 70’s-80’s television used to make me cringe. I remember a clip from the 80’s of a presenter calling boy George a “poofter”… and the studio audience laughing their heads off. Things are different nowadays. A lot of that generation will be dead now too. Sometimes better seeds are sown than before. And more can live happier times. Even though I don’t know you and I can wholeheartedly state that I’ve never been a homophobe, I didn’t stand up to any when growing during that time (for fear of violent repercussions) and wish that I had and apologise for not doing so. Gay people have every right to a happy fulfilling life. My youngest sister is gay and would be heartbroken if her life suffered because of it. Take care and have a happy life.🤘
Jim Bowen...not an inch of personality or charisma has he , there is NO charm or interest in anybody but himself.. a man I personly do not find in the least bit funny or as a comedian...Duncan has more talent in his little finger then Bowen has in his whole body..
