A group of Bagungu, which is a sub-tribe in the Bunyoro Kingdom, have disagreed with Bunyoro Kitara kingdom leaders and National Forestry Officials over the planned takeaway of the Kitigwa Hunting area.
The 1,900 hectares of land is located in Biiso Sub-county in Bulisa district. Thousands of people utilize the area for various activities however, kingdom officials say it was gazetted as a hunting ground before it was given to Prince Samuel Kintu by Bunyoro's former King, Sir Tito Winyi Gafabusa in 1967. The land is now being claimed by Bunyoro Kingdom's Prince Kintu, the Bagungu community, and the NFA. NFA officials say it covers some parts of Budongo Forest Reserve.
