Yo man, another amazing cook, amazing plant - how did you end up with such an amazing girl? I live in south jersey - girls here won't look at you if you don't make 80k plus - you landed the best - got kids - got God - how'd you do it? Love your videos - bought your book - think what you guys are doing is amazing - wish I could help - I got a giant ass burdock in my backyard and, well, I guess I'll diggitup tomrrow - well, today.

I appreciate you asking Steve! I met Stella at school but we ultimately found eachother again because of our love for the countryside. To find a loving lady I'd recommend looking for ladies that keep horses! They tend to be more into living a peaceful life. Life's been tough for us like everyone, it definitely wasn't a smooth journey. I had trouble youth and used to get in trouble. Iv got mental health issues (OCD) and to get to where I am I just had to keep fighting and not giving up. I realised along the way that if I just do the right thing, try my best and have faith that things will work out for me then life seems to come together rather than fall apart. Thanks for getting our book and good luck digging it up it can be quite an effort!

Thank you for this! I have Yellow Dock growing in my back yard. I learned that it is a great healer, but was cautioned to age it for about a year to allow the tannins to dissipate. Do you have any concerns about consuming tannins in fresh dock? :)

I enjoy watching your kind interactions and enthusiasm for foraging. I only began foraging 3years ago (during covid) and my 4kids are so eager to learn too, I always teach them they must check with me first still. I keep an old toothbrush in my cutlery drawer for scrubbing tubers (like Jerusalem artichokes) - could be useful for burdock too? I'm in Australia and after doing some googling, I asked my friend from Hong Kong if she had tried burdock. She said the taste is strong but most Asians love it including her. And that they use it for tea too. "Arctium lappa is known as niúbàng (牛蒡) in Chinese, the same name having been borrowed into Japanese as gobō" I hesitated buying your book because I didn't think there would be many ingredients I could freshly source from the other side of the world, but we have family in the UK we visit, and I am curious to learn more about other cultures food. So it will be a Christmas present for me and hopefully i can try more recipes too❤ Please keep posting you cheery duo, I really enjoy watching your videos🤗

It is Fall here where I live in Canada (Ottawa (city), Ontario (province), and burdock grows wild everywhere, especially along the River here in the City. Is now a good time to dig up the roots or is it better/best in the Spring/Summer? I'd love to try this. Is there an easy way to identify a burdock plant that is in its early stages? I have seen some that are massive and the leaves are huge.

Spring and autumn is the best time to dig up the roots. We have another more detailed burdock video about it 🙂 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RMJSlHW8eTg.html

Amazing. So want to give it a go. One question ,can you still use it once the thistles are on it? I know what they look like but are reluctant to use something in the early stages in case I mistake it for something else. Still learning a lot from you and can't wait until your book arrives. Thank you 🙏

You have to dig it in its first year growth, once it has burs the root becomes very hard and woody and unable to cut.

In the U.K. it is illegal to dig up wild plants.

All great but taking burdock in its entirety when foraging, is not good for Nature as the burdock is then depleted from the wild so best to check that there is plenty of it before removing the entire roots not unless, of course, it is in one’s own land where more burdock is growing. People need to be respectful also of the importance of such plants for birdlife and other living creatures particularly pollinators
