bought one yesterday. The Black Flag insecticide works! 90% of mosquitoes are gone after one application. Only saw a few mosquitoes today where there were previously swarms. However, my Burgess fogger flames up quite a bit so I'm contemplating returning it and buying a different brand. It was so bad that I almost burned down some bushes. Adjusting propane valve made no difference. It's also a real PITA to light.
Nice video. I also don't wear a respirator when spraying and always regret it afterwards. Even with no wind the fog goes all over the place and I find myself eventually covering my nose and mouth with my shirt. The fog does keep the mosquitoes away but not indefinitely. I haven't kept track of how long it works for but if I spray in the morning or afternoon then we're mosquito free for at least the whole night.
pillayw126 Have you tried it out yet? I just fogged my yard a few days ago, the mosquitoes were unbearable. It's the only thing that works, besides spraying Deet on yourself.
***** Just did it and sat on my front porch for about 20 minutes. First time this summer without being attacked by mosquitoes. Had a time finding the Black Flag Fogging Insecticide 2, but Tractor Supply had some.
That's cool, they seem to last forever. I have another mosquito item to test out. The mosquitoes haven't been too bad this year at my house, but I'm prepared to run the new fogger setup this week.
I realize you're doing this in the daytime so you can film the video, but it may be a good idea to recommend that this be done at dusk, NOT in the day time. Dusk is when they all go to their resting places, under leaves and plants etc. If you did mention it, and I missed it, apologies.
Hi Mark. Just fired mine up for the first time and overall things went well. But I can't even imagine letting it warm up for more than 1 minute. My coils were glowing red and the mist was shooting out without any liquid component almost right away. Wonder if my unit is running hotter than normal. I had my gas dialed waaaay back too. Your unit is obviously much older, so maybe this is a burn-in thing...?
Hi Ron, my fogger is at least 25 years old. I'm sure the new fogger design is significantly improved and works faster. I appreciate you taking the time to give me your feedback.
I have a newer model about 3 years old and its ready to go approximately 10-25 seconds after firing it up. Its ready once the fog starts and the liquid starts spewing out on its own.
The problem with these Foggers is that the fog doesn't stick to anything. It just floats off in the Wind. Someone needs to come up with a solution that actually sticks to the ground in the trees in the leaves so that it continues to kill or repel.
It kills all airborne bugs or any insects it contacts in the area. The answer to what you're mentioning is Cutter. Attach it to your garden hose and spray away. Unfortunately there isn't a quick answer or one product that kills/repels mosquitoes. You'll have to use multiple products to make your backyard more comfortable.
No, joke... kerosene.... and permethrin. 32 oz at my tsc was 29 bucks, I believe its 36 percent permethrin. But yup, 4 oz to a gallon of kerosene and you'll see.
I've been around a fog machine and don't think they work the same way. The insect fogger gets real hot. The hotter it gets, the better the fog comes out. The indoor special effects fogger doesn't seem to get hot, that I've noticed. Sorry I can't be any more specific.
HI Mark, I bought a similar product recently, quick question... After fogging is necessary to clean out the Unused insecticide in the tank or it ok to store in there for long term? i thinking if the insecticide would clog the nozzle for the spray?
It's good practice to empty the insecticide however, I've left some in there by accident for long periods of time and have never had any issues. I think the hot coil melts anything that gums up.
Yes, I've used both. The gas one is my first choice because I prefer not to drag an extension cord around. The most important thing of a gas one is to make sure it warms up thoroughly before use.
Can anyone tell me what to use in this particular fogger. The issue i have is they sell this Burgess fogger here in New Zealand but they dont sell the Black flag fogging mixture thats recommended for use. But i can get an insecticide that can be used but they have no information on ratio and what to mix it with? Obviously i dont want to blow myself up. Ive read you mix with diesel? But i need to confirm this. Anyone out there know? Cheers.
Just a question does this fog kill the Mosquitos or just repel them with all the news about the zika virus looking at getting one of these because we're down south.
+Rudy G Good question... I read somewhere that they actually kill mosquitoes. I know they repel them for sure too. I'll be using the fogger this summer as well, because our winter has been rather mild, which means lots of mosquitoes this spring and summer.
I've used this fogger occasionally, for family get togethers, and the canister lasted for years. The fogger helps, but when we're in droughts, like the weather Michigan has had so far this spring, there's not many mosquitoes out and no reason to do any fogging.
Wow. That's 6:17 I just wasted.. what brand of chemical and fogger did u use. U did I form us that u have a wood rack though. That's the take away ....????
I don't recall what I said in the video, but I see claims that it works for up to 72 hours. If I were having an outdoor get together, I'd spray this 2-3 hours ahead of time to be mosquito free.
+native ojibwa Thanks, I agree. A respirator is a good idea. I don't have many black flies around here, so I can't give you an opinion. I read that they help with flying and biting flies for several hours.
