I recently played as burgundy and a strange thing happened during the succession crisis: I had Marie as an heir but she died before my king. Luckily, I got a new heir with even better stats, but when my king kicked the bucket, Marie came back from the dead (with original stats) to rule the (soon to be) kingdom of Lothaire. I kinda feel bad for the second heir

I have a suggestion, you should play as the Jaddari in the EU4 mod Anbennar, it combines your favourite parts of EU4, mass expansion, mass expansion, and finally mass expansion, (topped with some great military ideas and full cav elves)

*East Frisia* is actually really nice, especially the islands. We used to go there on holidays when I was a kid. I can recommend Norderney or Borkum. So the whole thing in the video actually made perfect sense, who knew the AI had this amount of taste.

I played burgundy into Lothringia after the Montferrat video and I can confirm, it's a lot of fun. Quite a unique start.

I've been playing my own Burgundy game recently, and decided to come back and watch this again. In my game, I got incredibly lucky in that A) England didn't actually rival and France did, so I allied England and Austria, and B) before a month had even ticked by, I got the hunting accident event and lost Charles as an heir, so I never actually got the Burgundian Succession. Because I attacked Provence while the Hundred Years war was going on, and I was allied to the Pope and called them in with favors, I ultimately caused the 100 years war to end in a stalemate, as my subjects liberated Normandy for England while I took Paris, and the French decided that instead of liberating their capital, the smart thing to do was go to Italy with their army and "teach the Pope a lesson". Ultimately, forcing a Stalemate in the 100 years war worked great for me because I got even luckier and had the English Lancaster die with no heir, and my dynasty get the throne, and then I inherited England

I'd love to see you continue this and try to finish off Burgundy's mission tree.

already played burgundy and formed Lothringia in an MP game. sadly I didn't get to do it quite as quickly as I wanted and I wasn't very strong due to probably self incompetence. Didn't go very far past that because the group got bored of the save file.

Burgundy is one of the strongest due to its rich land, around 1600 everyone starts getting really good national ideas and Burgundy starts to suffer. You have to use subjects to expand after that.

Burgundy is easly my favorite, you have 2 permament buffs from missions and easly can become Emperor of HRE Can form france to get 3 more buffs from missions Maybe form sardinia-piedmont Then convert to orthodox form byzantium to get pentarchy and troll the pope. Or form lotharyngia and be boring like that

I really struggle with the French war and staying up on tech, and in the positive on cash, keeping all of the French vassals in line. It’s so much fun.

They have a lot of flavour and events, their very own starting crisis, really well rounded ideas and a nice mission tree that takes you all over Indochina, Burma, Malaya and China AND I never see them succeed against Ayutthaya/Siam. I'd have suggested Dai Viet as another alternative because they have the odds stacked against them because they're the only Mahayana Nation (Pahang doesn't count) in a sea of Theravada Nations and they also have their own flavour events in regards to China, Confucianism and their own succession crisis.
