Were the silverado! Enjoyed being recovered by these guys! Couldn't have been more helpful and informational in a stressful situation! Thank you again! It was awesome meeting you guys!
Hi Sydney! You're going to go on so many adventures, you lucky dog. "Getting stuck is part of the fun"... as long as you're with someone who can recover you! Good tips, good production value, and entertaining throughout - That's Overland Pacific Northwest for ya!
I’m just glad you consistently stop. I watch so many people just look as they drive by and never even try to help. Seriously well done, I know it’s frustrating sometimes because some of them are being ding dongs but it doesn’t mean they deserve a tug. Well done 💪🏼🙏
You guys are absolute pros at this, it's awesome to watch. It's cool to always learn something from one of your videos too. If I get stuck, I hope to see you guys out there.
Another great video. Great tips and lessons. I agree that getting stuck is part of the fun! Actually a big part for me in our outings. 😀 What a beautiful beach and I love the dog!!!!
@@OverlandPNW Thank you! We knew it might make a difference on travel plans for some Jeepers and wanted to get the word out and what better way to do than video? Thank you for watching and commenting. - Melissa
@@Christopher-vf6kx They are amazing and so smart. Mine is a mix. Aussie with some Bernese Mountain Dog and also some poodle. But in appearance and personality, she is all Aussie.
I’ve been going out to that are for almost 30 years, and play on the sand a lot at Sand Lake and down in Florence. For some reason, I have never bothered to go out to that access point. I’ll have to check it out next time. Good video.
I remember some fun evenings at boxcar in Florence! I used to hang out as Sand Lake and Florence a lot. We had a big group of friends that all had quads. The sand is a ton-of-fun!
Great stuff! I was at Sand Lake in June. I did a little sand, but I'm new to it and it felt real sketchy to me. I was alone and didn't want to spend my day digging myself out of a jamb. Your sand videos give me more confidence. Thanks.
Thanks! Yes it was a while between videos. Other projects got in the way. Sam is one of those people that makes every trip better. So, we were glad he could make it! Thanks for watching!
The only tip one needs to give here is, if you are going to drive in the sand, drive a TRD OR or Pro. 😉 No winch, no front locker, no tow straps, just flip on the CC if you should somehow get stuck and let it walk you up and out of the hole you got into. 🙂
Very enjoyable vid and a practical discussion. Love the good nature you guys demonstrate with the folks you help out. What a beautiful day out there. I don’t know that it’s as much of a prank as a game, but you can “borrow” something precious from your brother. Sam and you can deposit it somewhere safe in the backcountry then make your bro play Hot & Cold to recover it.
@@f2cmadmaxx I air down to 10 psi in the sand. This works with my tire/wheel combo. I have Method wheels that have a "Bead Grip technology" that is designed to allow for deflation to lower psi. They seem to work. You have to experiment a little with your tire/wheel combo to see what works for you. As a general rule, most people aim to get the pressure between 15 and 20 PSI in each tire.
@@michaelyazhari5999 @Overland Pacific Northwest Sounds good, thanks - I too have bead grips so seems like i have the option if needed between 10-15 on sand.
Man what a great channel. Definitely my favourite on RU-vid. I’d kill for a day on the beach learning from you all. I’m afraid to do anything fun like that since I’m solo. Keep up the great work.
Yeah the solo trips can get real sketchy that's for sure. We keep talking about doing a big group trip but have never managed to get ourselves organized enough to actually pull it off. We were out wheeling today but decided to go last night at around 8 pm ha ha. I think it is going to be like that for a while but by 2024 hopefully we will have manageable schedules.
@@OverlandPNW sadly there’s not a lot of good overlanding where I’m from. I’d have to drive at least 14 hours in any direction to start to find anything reasonably good.
We’ve had the fortune of meeting some great people on the trail; some offer help, some need help. I love the way people tend to show their best self in the great outdoors.
Great video guys, you are always a lot of fun to watch and I love driving on the beach, dad has a vacation property in Ocean Park with 2 RV hook ups 5 minutes from (The worlds longest beach) and we go there often, I took 3 co-workers there last weekend to play on the beach all day, nobody got stuck and i'm glad because I don't think my car even has a recovery point. You must be either in Oregon or close to Oregon?
Oh cool ... yes I know the World's Longest Beach. Our group is all Oregon and SW Washington based. I really like your channel. I'm a fan of drone videos and am trying to incorporate more drone shots into my videos. I fly the DJI Air 2S.
Another great video! Always fun watching your beach videos. One of these days I need to get down to Oregon and play around on those beaches. Also, just an observation, but your editing keeps getting better and better.
Awesome video! Great scenery. I was eyeing those waves. Is that a good beach for surfing? Sydney looks like a great addition to the off road recovery team!
Good question about the surfing. I have seen a few people with boogie boards but I haven't noticed it to be a surfing destination. Sydney just did a long off-road trip with us in WA. She's a natural overlander!
Great video but you left the most important part of beach driving out….clean up. That salt and sand gets into everything. Cleaning that truck good is everything and more. Keep up the great videos on having fun and being smart!
playing and getting stuck and unstuck is wonderful training on your vehicle and recovery skills. Was fun to watch. Would be fun to see a demo of the wrong ways to drive on the sand vs 'better' or 'best' ways for any particular vehicle. Would you drive that same beach if you had a truck with camper(~2-3k load)? I might have to look at past videos for more beach/sand driving tips.
I've never owned a slide-in camper but it would be interesting to see it in the sand! I have seen some videos on Australian RU-vid channels where they tow boats and overland trailers across the beach. I agree, that would be a fun video!
Aww Sydney is so cute! Love the recoveries, makes me want a winch asap. love seeing built rigs drag others across the dunes, so beastly! did all the people wait for you to show up to help air them up? i cannot think of what they were thinking when they needed a refill.
How do wash your vehicle after being on the beach? How meticulous do you have to be? Assuming there’s a big rust potential each time you drive on the beach? Does sand itself pose a risk? Thanks! Love the channel.

Hey I dont know if you watch Wanderlost Overland on YT but if you do have you had some of the same issues w/your 4runner and have you fixed it like they did in their last video? Looks like fun on the beach.
I have a 2001 Yukon XL with 285 45 22 terrain tires that I take in the sand, snow and messed up forest roads. Yeah not the right setup and I should have 17's or something with tires with taller sidewalls blah blah blah. But I never got stuck. I use my Yukon for daily driving also so more practical sense to not go full blown offroad setup in my case. But nowadays I don't drive it as much as a daily so I am thinking about leveling my truck or something so I can slap on taller tires or going down in size with my rims to get taller tires instead of lifting or something because I want to still be able to fit into garages. I have been lucky so far because I know the limits of my Yukon with my tires setup. I grew up driving in these conditions with only 2 wheel drive cars. A lot of people out there think that they are unstoppable with a 4 wheel drive vehicle and invincible with all the bells and whistles. Well it takes experience and common sense also, folks.
I got my stock 03 Subaru outback stuck on the ruts left by all the big trucks going in and out. I hit them at 90° and instantly stopped. I was thinking "man I should have aired down" but realizing I was sitting with the tires free no amount of airing down would have helped. I made it 7 miles in soft dry sand and got stuck 15' from the pavement. There was no route I could have taken because of cars parked and kids playing with the drift wood.
@@OverlandPNW a truck hooked up a ratchet to my tow point and just pulled gently with me giving it what I could. It's a stick too so that smelt horrible
Sam has both the Tacoma and the Jeep. He likes to use the jeep for day trips. On longer trips, he takes the Tacoma. He hasn't done any mods to the jeep. He bought it a few years ago. He really likes it.
Hi, yes I have your contact from the winter inquiry and will email you. The local tow guy was not too upset. They charge a $200 non-refundable fee just to drive down to the beach. Probably because people often get help and don't need a tow when they get there.
Two good points! Sand and snow are similar in a lot of ways. The two guys in the black and white pickups were pretty sharp. So, I'd be surprised if they drove very far without airing up. There is a gas station 1 block from the beach.
practical joke, get some cooking oil and put it into something you can squeeze to squirt a small stream under and on a crossmember of some ones rig and "notice it" several time through out the day, weekend, week.... it just might drive them nuts not figuring out where it's coming from.
Practical joke: hide a speaker inside some compartment of his 4runner and have a female pretend to be calling from onstar (regardless of whether he has it) and say that the emergency has been noted and that the national Guard (or whoever) is on their way and that “please note, the typical charge for them to even show us is around $20,000.” It could be like a automated program like “please say yes to have them show up” etc. and when he says no, it says “confirmation confirmed.”. Etc etc.
