If the people in the comments screaming about “pomp” and “vanity” had their way they would destroy the gold altars, tabernacles, and chalices, and strip the churches of any beauty. It’s a shame we have so many people in the church who want to see it relegated to just another religion among many.
Yes Jesus had no where to lay his head he wore simple clothes and sandles, rided on a poney , all the gold, marble floors, marble walls ,silver and bronze. This is not Christianity at all .

@@Knappa22 That’s not the purpose of the Liturgy. The Mass isn’t necessarily just for us but also a way to highly revere and worship Christ. The secular world focuses exclusively on the empirical rather than the spiritual (no surprise) and can not see the reason for such a majestic way of reverence to God. Some may call it extreme, but it’s simply abiding to tradition and overall the highest level of respect to the sacraments.

When did a Cardinal become treating like a King? I thought Jesus was a simple man unlike these Cardinals and Priests wearing expensive vestments. What happened to the simple way of life of the Priesthood?

Cardinals are Princes of the Vatican City-State. Cardinals have been treated like Cardinals for many centuries. People in the comments here love to rain on the Cardinal's parade I see. I tend to wear clothes until they literally begin to fall apart; then I shop for new ones. I'm not saying this to impress anyone, and I know that I still live a privileged life compared to the world's truly poor. But when I'm judged, and I will be, at least I know it won't be for wearing costly vestments or pretending to be an "alter Christus," which, if I were, would mean selling all my possessions, having nothing to wear except a dirty cloak, no comfortable bed to sleep in every night, no regular meals served right on time, no state-of-the-art health care in the Vatican's well-equipped clinic. None of that. If Burke were another Christ, and lived in simple poverty like Christ, then I'd have a reason to respect him.

I am a faithful Catholic. Here, IMHO, is the true Leader of the Church. I respect the fact that Francis was lawfully-elected and ordained in the Chair of St. Peter. And Francis has indeed lived a worthy personal life, imitating Christ in his everyday actions and humble service to the poor. But Francis's leadership of the Church itself has been highly questionable, he has compromised too much with the world of secularism, and has, essentially, watered down the faith. We badly need somebody like Burke at the helm...who will actually restore Catholicism itself to the faith...the Church that Jesus Christ Himself founded.
Dear modernist, this "failed" version of the Church is the one that is evangelizing so many people, especially young people, your rotten, arrogant and modern church is distancing people from God.

Sorry, i like good liturgy, but for me its a little too much pious folklore and i do not patronising wig-wag during the intrance procession. When you go solemny over marble, you symbolize the walking people of Israel and not yourselve. I do not know if is this clear when you see the cappa magna.
In my opinion, this goes too far because this is no longer honoring God, which is what liturgical vestments, precious vessels and the elevated altar are about -- this is Cardinal Burke celebrating himself as a Prince of the Church, and this is Baroque feudalism, not liturgy.
Division is not the hallmark of the true church, by fomenting division and working in opposition to the Holy See he is a character of division. Also his distancing affectations far from advancing the church is adding to its woes. A poor and misguided man, I pray for him.
You are correct to say that division is not the hallmark of the true Church. You are incorrect to assert that it is Cdl. Burke who foments the division - the perennial teaching of Christ through his Bride are the stable point of reference. Ask yourself who departs from them, then you will know who the poor misguided souls are.

Al contrario, dice: "Non procuratevi oro, né argento, né moneta di rame nelle vostre cinture, né bisaccia da viaggio, né due tuniche, né sandali, né bastone, perché l'operaio ha diritto al suo nutrimento" (Mt 10,9-10). Se cercate legittimazioni bibliche, concentratevi sul Vangelo, non sul velluto.
