Self-propelled machine for automatically placing harvested tobacco plants onto wooden sticks for subsequent air curing, operated by two workers. For details, call Jeff, 919-273-0320
I lived in Onslow Co. a while back and across the street was a field of tobacco. The family is a Nebraska corn, milo, soybean and cow farm family and Ive never watched tobacco grow and get harvested. I was told the stories from the locals about how much work it was and there was a lot of handling involved. They harvested the plant as it grew instead of cutting it down and ive been watching various tobacco growers across the country from Amish farmers doing it full hands on to your sticking machine. I hate the product as it controlled part of my life for may years but I like machines and yours is cool. I hope you were a success.
Wadesuhr has made a comment on Burley Spiker: Watch your fingers. How do you steer this machine by the way? Front tines guide on row and steer via hydraulics; manual steering by joystick. Safety switch under seat stops blade immediately upon leaning too far forward or reaching down.
