I have the Roscoe 7 here in Canada. Given the price of bikes in 2023, it is probably the best option for someone who doesn't want to spend too much.

Nice vid. I've been considering a Fuse Expert and Stumpy Comp carbon. As you mentioned, the Stumpy isn't that much more than the Fuse so it's probably worth it to pay a lil more. The Fuse is an awesome looking hardtail though. If I got the Fuse, I'd put on some red Ergon grips and some other red parts on the bike to make it pop.

I think it is great with some competition from Trek. That will hopefully bring the prices of the Fuse to more realistic levels.

Great Review! My partner owns a 2020 Trek Roscoe 7. Great bike for price to take on rugged terrain like green and blue trails. But always thought if it had 29 wheels and the head angle was slacker it would be a great alternative to a the entry level Trek Fuel Ex 5 full suspension. But now with the 2022 Roscoes with 29 wheel, 65 degree head angle and 13kg weight, thats nearly as good as my 2019 Trek Slash 8 Enduro! Will definitely upgrade her Roscoe now. Thanks for the review
@MTBs
@MTBs 2 года назад
Yes, a great bike but still a trail bike and not as "enduro" as the Slash (which is a stunning bike BTW). You might want to have a look at the new Top Fuel too which has also gotten a lot more capable from 2022.

Great video! Exactly what I needed to see! Have been considering the Fuse for a while but due to availability (or lack of!) started looking at alternatives, the Roscoe being one. Think I’ll continue the hunt for a Fuse as the riding position of the Roscoe looked a bit funky although I’m shorter than you (180cm) and prefer larger bikes. Got plenty of time to decide though as can’t find either at the moment lol!!

Because of the bike supply issues in 2020, I ended up with the Roscoe 8 and believe it or not, I am still happy with my purchase. My only complaint will be whenever I decide to upgrade the wheelset due to the Boost 141 QR Trek decided to put on that frame. I wanted to originally buy the 2020 Fuse Expert, but because of budget constraints and Specialize's need to overprice their bikes compared to other brands, it was a no go. I have made several upgrades over the last 20 months of ownership, wider 780mm bar, shorter 40mm stem, and Rockshox Revelation 120mm fork (It was a really good deal)

I was looking at exactly this sort of bike in late 2020. The 2021 Fuse was overpriced and 7 month backlog and the Trek was still the old model back then. I settled on a Norco Fluid HT and installed a nice 130mm fork to replace the standard 120mm. With 130mm fork, the Norco's geometry is now identical to the Fuse in 95% of all measurements. I'm happy.

I think the Fuse Comp looks better from watch your review ,though Roscoe does look good too. I was going to get a Chisel but a Fuse looks a better all rounder with its slacker geometry . Now to see if Trek ,Canyon or other brands can beat a Fuse but the Fuse has a good length wheelbase 1188 which i prefer 🤔. Cheers :)

You are undecided if you should go with the Roscoe 7 or 8 bc of the 35 mm fork? So the 7 has a better fork? What is wrong with the 35 mm fork? I'm asking bc I'm completely ignorant on this subject. I missed the Specialized bike sale when they sold the Fuse Comp for 1.5k
@MTBs
@MTBs Месяц назад
Basically because of the fork which is the most important thing on a bike imo. The Recon is only 32 mm which I think will be too flexy on a bike of this caliber. It's a XC fork. Depends on where you intend to ride of course. I also favor Deore over NX and half a kilo of lower weight on the 8.

Picked up a poverty spec Fuse for $1100 in the US. 1x9, spring fork, 30.9 dropper in a 34.9 seat tube, no adjustable rear axle. With a GX groupset, BB, XD freehub, 150mm dropper, I'm still under $2k for a very nice spec build. Had a 140mm Recon fork laying around. Otherwise, it would be another $300 for the fork.
@MTBs
@MTBs Год назад
@AIK.1891
@AIK.1891 Год назад
@MTBs
@MTBs Год назад
Hello igen.

Awesome, yes the roscoe thanks for the reply, I was thinking the same although the only one available to me right now is the M/L, the L is still on order and who knows how far out it is. The terrain i ride is 50/50 some fast straight sections but also a fair amount of technical sections and lots of XC style uphill tracks. Unfortunately the bike shops are far enough away that I am unable to test ride. Would you say the size difference between the two is significant enough to wait for the large? Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. LOL for 99 percent of people out there these forks are more than enough, I am sure you yourself would not even ride that fork to its full potential. Everyone these days wants the best without even understanding why they need this. Comments like yours make me think of you as a bad bad rider who simply sucks and complains every time he goes out on a trail. LMAO. You are probably one of those with a 5k double suspension bike I pass by on a 2k hardtail on a double black diamond with a $300 awful RockShox fork.

2 rather different bikes. Trail vs XC. Depends on where you intend to ride I guess.

Trek reduced prices 21% June 2023. Still expensive but yen also weak so less wtf. No 9 in Japan.

Ill always Pick Specialized. Maybe interms of Build quality i saw alot of Broken Trek Alloy Frame. Thats why in every bike big brand trek is my Least Favorite From Spez, Giant, Cannondale, Santa Cruz etc.. trek will always be my Last option

Love Specialized frames too, but I haven't really heard anything bad about Trek alloy frames. Certainly this bike seems to be well put together.

It's greed running industry. They crank prices up because idiots pay them 🤷🏻‍♂️ Average rider can't fix a flat tire not to mention maintenance. Instead of looking for something on 2nd hand market they just go and buy new

The 2nd hand market has also been crazy, but it seems as if the bike boom is over now and prices in general are coming down.
