The near-misses were clearly Burnham, trying to minimize loss of life. The direct hits were Georgiou, who hasn't had an opportunity to slaughter aliens in a while and was enjoying the target practice.
I'm guessing it was a Federation mothball yard where old hulls go to die. That would explain why there are old Disco-era hulls there. As for why it looks like a lot of them got blown up, well, if there was a Starbase or ship in orbit with an active Warp Core when the Burn happened... I assume the shockwave would've caused a lot of damage to all those unshielded hulls.
@@DBrown-gu4ry I should also mention that I don't mean a literal shockwave, since those don't exist in a vacuum. More like a rapidly-expanding sphere of high speed debris, along with undetonated antimatter from the storage tanks of the station and/or ship(s). The debris obviously is gonna cause some damage, but the undetonated antimatter would cause secondary explosions on whatever hulks they hit, causing those hulls to also break apart in an explosion... or at least become severely damaged and another source of flying debris. Really, just a chain reaction throughout the entire area.
anyone else wonder how all those broken down looking ships that seemed to have no power were floating? I guess they were just there so phillipa could be a bad ass and shoot'em down.
when the people making decided that it should be a fantasy action drama, rather than a scifi. What was book's ship even built for? It is a transport ship, a warship, a bachelor pad with bed right behind the bridge and can even split apart just to do a "U" turn. This has to be the most complex, capable ship in all of star trek. But it is really just whatever the writers want it to be in the moment. Pure fantasy.
easier to make $ that way. Star Trek is scifi, this show is mostly fantasy. Like, how did Book get a ship that is a freighter, a warship and a bachelor pad all in one? Answer, the showrunner Kurtzman loves star WARS and is making this show as much star wars as he can...and this show doesn't bother making much sense, it is all flash and little substance.
