Dude, you are a fucking Bo$S with the bass, not just this but all your covers. I salute your tremendous dedication to sharpen your skills to this ultimate level. You inspire me
You have been my go-to for spot-checking bass parts since I saw your virtual cover of "She's a Beauty" and it knocked my socks off. Your videos are well shot and you have an ear for choosing the most sensible and accurate bass parts for playing live. Also, your studio audience is the best. Anyway, to the point: I recently had a minor stroke, which has left me with (probably) permanent numbness in my right fingertips. I could slop by with a thick pick and some stickum, but I don't want to. I want to get my fingerstyle playing as close to what it was as is possible, and I am using your videos as a guide to re-teaching my fingers (my pre-stroke technique and yours are almost identical). So keep up the good work and know that this hobby of yours is doing some real good out there. Thanks, Tony.
I really like your approach. Small, tiny little variances from the original that make it your own yet stay totally with the original vibe. I've watched more than several of your vids in preparation for filling in on bass in my brothers classic rock cover band while normally I play all original hard rock and metal. I've been playing guitar and bass for close to 30 years now and have a pretty good and accurate ear. But when it's crunch time, I'll sort through the best bass covers I can find, scout some good tabs and start hammering it out. I've found your vids (when you've done songs I've needed) to be above the rest because of your accuracy and attention to the feel. Keep rocking brother!! I'll put up some requests later and hopefully they make it on your 'I want to do this' list :)
I had to look into what you were talking about. I see it was something I wrote in the text beneath the video. Honestly, I wish I was that clever and my comment had nothing at all to do with the song lyric.
I am so glad you didn't stick your bass under your bed. Your covers have helped me a lot. Thanks for what you do. P.S. I think I saw a family member behind you...
You are amazing and I’d watch anything you play. Don’t care for Sara McLaughlin but I’d probably still watch it. And the ones you do with your Ric, at least twice. Keep hem coming.
Absolutely the best tone from a Rick I have ever heard. You Sir always amaze. I have played this song a million times and every once in a while I still play G instead of A at the end, and do exactly what you did. Lol😅
loving it ....man I remember the video of them like under some bridge at night with a garbage can on fire ,,,I though they were the coolest thing....great job
Actually, some parts I used to double up the finger picking, just for a more percussive sound. I had a habit of doing that on some Rush songs playing by ear.
That was it. Anything else I had has been flushed. I just hung on to these because I still put a fair amount of work into them and they aren't half bad.
Thanks for uploading this. I just recently picked up the bass (at the ripe old age of 50). Your videos are very helpful. Any plans on doing Don't Fear The Reaper?
Thanks for watching. Cool, I hope you enjoy playing as much as I have/do. I'm very glad that you find the videos helpful. I hadn't planned on it, but you never know.
Still as great as always !!! I got a request for you ....... the bass line to Green eyed lady . I have most of it down but not all the way . Seems after watching you play a song I can play it or play it better . I like the way you show your videos . You have it set where people can see both hands . But just wanted to place a request for that song . Keep rocken Bro!
I Remember Back In 2002, My Cousin Shawn Came Over With His Dog. In The Dinning Room There Was This Backroom With My Drum Set In It. Shawn Wanted To Hear Me Play. So I Got On My Drums And I Played Burnin' For You. His Dog Freaked Out. He Would Not Stop Barking So I Had To Discontinue The Song. That Was The Only Way He Would Calm Down.
That's Cool. That's Only Because He Didn't Like Loud Noise. He Was Scared. Especially If Somebody Were To Play Their Guitar Along With Me Playing My Drums.
