this game was a plea and a last-ditch effort to save the Criterion name, so the devs really pushed for it to be the best it could to try to please EA. I'd say they pulled it off
@@byonemesis I don't think Tropical Drive is that bad, it doesn't have as much traffic and elevation difference as Alpine. My main issue is traffic and the reason my Alpine is very hard to me is because it has a lot of hills so you can't see any cars on the other side.
@@KrockBeats Just so everyone is aware, the song is a slightly modified version (a few more underlying tones and beats here and there) of 'Ozone' by 'Stephen Root & Steve Emney', specially composed for this game. It's difficult to pinpoint the exact genre in which a particular track lies in, but in my opinion, this is definitely trance; classic trance/progressive trance from the late 90s/early 2000s, to be specific (yes, I am aware that the game was released in '04, but this style of trance became a thing in the late 90s up to around the mid-'00s; before that (early 90s and such) the style was at its inception and much more raw). Fantastic music, overall. Shame they don't make this kind of stuff any more. P.S. If you like this kind of music, a great channel to listen and discover classic trance tracks is the following: ru-vid.com

@@wilfredynunez5263 you were right to assume, It is just the game's theme song, it was made for the game. The musicians were working for Criterion Games at the time :)

1:21 I love the piano delay at the end of this segment, always gives me chills. Especially love the camera angles and shots here. The best ones are at the end where they match the cars' speed and then abruptly stop and watch the cars go off into the distance. The shot at the start of the muscle car cutscene was great too. Just the camera being still, focused on the opening of the alleyway and then suddenly pans and follows the cars rapidly blasting out of there. Really conveys that sense of speed.

I noticed, a lot of these series unlocked videos have cars in colours cut from the final version, I assume that you would also see the Compact Series Unlocked video through regular gameplay, but the method of unlocking was cut, but the video remained, I assume it was through a tutorial, with a "Driver's Ed"-esque car, probably based on one of the compacts, and once the tutorial was cleared, you would unlock the Compact Series
fun fact: the colors arent cut, its actually a (presumed) developer bug. you were originally supposed to have 6 color options with each car. but the coding causes the wrong set of colors to show up. there are still TECHINCALLY 6 paint options available because there are 6 selection slots in the code. so you think youre only selecting from 3 colors when in reality youre selecting from 6, but the first 3 colors are repeated. the only actual exclusive colors are the ones used in online team road rage for the custom, prototype, and dx cars of each series where the colors are inverted.
in the menu you can see these videos again that's why they created the video of the compact cars but since they are already unlocked they couldn't put them as they should or maybe there was something I never saw
I would have first put the tutorial video that they show you to explain how to play and then the unlock video and at the end choosing the car would have been better
Another fun fact...the Carrera GT lookalike car did anyone notice in the intro had a different front lower facia ? It didn't have fog lamps In the intro but in game it had fog lamps
Aside from the special events and crash mode, for a while I had no idea of what the tracks from the other continents were and what the type 1 to 3 cars looked like since when I owned my first copy of burnout 3 I had no memory card that I could use with, after a while I managed to buy a MC but it wasn't working with my copy of the game, it worked with every other game I had but with B3 it wasn't detecting it for some reason back then I didn't know you could format the MC but even if knew how to I wouldn't becuase that meant I would lose the progress for the other games, eventually I bought another MC and it was working perfectly until my save file got corrupted and after that the game wasn't detecting it, by that time I managed to reach the muscle car class, I learned how to format the memory card and after that it was working again, but then my copy of the game started to stutter and soft lock in one of the king of the road events in the muscle series preventing me to move to the next series on europe, after that I tried to find another copy to buy, but I couldn't find it anywhere, so I stopped playing it, after 3 year I managed to find a copy of B3, and I was scared thinking something would go wrong this time but it didn't it just didn't, it felt really good to watch the series unlock videos after all that hassle, and that's why B3 holds a special place in my heart as one of the arcade racers I've ever had the honor to play.
compact series: hahahah clear race go brrr, so ez muscle: challenging and yeah. coupe: new continent go brrmm, uhh i can handle this i guess. sport: oh sh*t, no wonder, f**k these face off and trams super: F**k hard
