Should we do these monthly? If you have anything I could help you with, let me know in the comments 💖

I think it’s always so important to discuss these topics because you never know who might need it (like me lol). But, just know it’s hard to be an autistic adult that’s high functioning because everyone wants to treat you like a different human being

I am not sure how knowledgeable you are on this specific topic, but a video discussing the intersection of autism and incarceration could be enlightening/educational. In America, there are twice as many autistic people per capita compared to the general public. This number doesn't (and can't) account for however many undiagnosed folks might be looked over, and whose socially abnormal behavior is written off as just "being a thug." Although the true ratio of men to women is unknown, official APA/CDC statistics still claim that ASD is genetically more common in males than females, but that studies show that ASD cuts across all socioeconomic/ethnic backgrounds at the same rate. Given all these facts, arguably the most vulnerable demographic amongst the autistic population are American black males. Who knows just how many black men in prison are there because they got pulled over and the uneducated police officer interpretted his stimming as a sign of substance use? or perhaps misinterpretted his tone as "cocking an attitude." all despite the fact that these interpretations arose from an NT/ND clash. What do you think could be done about this? Perhaps since ASD is at its heart a social maladaptive condition, anyone who shows repeated signs of just "not getting" the rules of society ought to be screened for autism?

6:30 Definitely on the money. "Going for a walk" is only useful advice insofar as it can be a gateway exercise to something a bit more rigorous (and therefore mentally beneficial). Changing your environment, not just your job, but possibly even your geographical location is also useful. Unfortunately in order to escape burnout, oftentimes a series of small good choices isn't enough, and a radical shift is needed. Also, for me, whenever I wake up in the morning, instead of coffee, I do a quick 15-20 minute clean up of my environment which effectively gets my brain in working order.

@@TylaGrant That's exactly why it's so important for people like you to make content. I might be a white dude who lives thousands of miles across the ocean, and society as a whole may treat our respective demographics radically differently in most contexts; but whenever I hear someone such as yourself explain the inner workings of their mind with such familiarity and recognizable intelligence, it is plainly obvious that there is something very similar (although not identical, obvs) going on inside of our brains. If it weren't for you and about 20 other autistic women content creators who explained to me the intricacies and nuances of what it means to realize as an adult that you're autistic, I very well would probably not presently be alive. I know that sounds dramatic, but that's the kind of headspace I was in prior to my diagnosis and it was people like you who helped show me the way out.

I appreciate this. I especially need to hear the last part... I'm not the centre of people's lives, but a mere quantity. People experience thousands of thoughts per day. This is definitely a thought to help those with low self-esteem.
