Gracie's nonsensical responses and George's reactions to her responses make these short comedies a joy to watch and laugh at...

Ace of spades … nothing. Ace of spades … nothing. I can’t do it with the cards yet; I’m still practicing. 😂

I pull that on people when I see strangers playing cards in public. I say "Oh, I can't do it with the cards yet, but I'm getting better." AND IT SLAYS THEM!! Pulled it on a couple playing cards on a train a few weeks ago...they laughed for 10 mins!!!

Gracie Allen would've been right at home with Larry David /UK Peep Show. She is comedic genius.

SisterRayVU68 people think of Gracie’s character’s humor as so unique, but if you pay attention you will notice that jokes like those are slipped into many different kinds of comedy programs and still get laughs.

It being pre-code, the bit at the end is zany & risque @ the same time.

She made the act. Simply great. Could have been successful with any straight man(as seen here). GB was a creative person, good writer, but that's it. He would not have had a later career without the early one-which was made possible by Gracie.

Bucky Brown they needed each other. George was a genius, successful in three media, with and (sadly) without Gracie: radio, television, and film. I believe he also won a Grammy for best spoken album.

It looked a bit like him, but that wasn't Mel Blanc.

That was Chester Clute, who appeared in several of George & Gracie's shorts................

A little before Mel’s time. He might not have even been old enough to have seen this in the cinema.

She could have turned that same character into something MENACING if called upon to do ir, too: "I just ripped you off for 5 bucks and got away with it because boys like dizzy girls & I'm DIZZY.....In fact, I could just about get away with MURDER in here because I'm dizzy....." Kind of a takeoff on their vaudeville routine of that title, but delivered like "The Bad Seed" or "The Good Son." A comedy bit that, with the right script, could have given her a role in something darker..... My apologies for even THINKING something like that, but when the h house detective ejects the 1st guy @ the counter, that immediately crossed my mind.
