I've had my GT4 for a little over a week. Coming from the GT3 I can attest that this is a very noticeable upgrade to the sound and presentation. Once your hear the improvement the GT3 suddenly loses some of it's magic. I have the unique ability to compare them head to head as I had already upgraded my GT3 fully with V7 Vivids. Both have SuperChargers. Without a doubt all things equal the GT4 absolutely sounds better in every way! It has more space, depth, detail and control especially in the bass region. The background was already silent on the GT3 but it now is clearly coming from an even more black/silent backdrop. It's quite impressive what they have achieved in elevating what was an already impressive and detailed sound. I have to say that I don't find the GT4 bright. It's warmer to my ears vs the GT3. The sound is now richer and more filled out. That bit of occasional sibilance that the GT3 had is gone. Everything is just super smooth and liquid. Acoustic instruments and pianos have a lush texture and decay. Vocals are sublime. I'm listening with Susvara, Utopia, HD800S and HD6XX. I can literally feel the drivers moving on Susvara on my ears. This amp definitely is pushing harder and holding control of the music and driver. So happy I upgraded! I'm still waiting for my Fusion power supply to arrive. Can't wait to see what additional elevation to the sound it unlocks. GT4 for the win!
I have the C3R, with super charger and v7 classics. I don’t see the point in comparing this one to the C3R with the V6. Swap the opamps for that. Also I remember when the 3R came out. Its power and how well it drove the susvaras was a constant remark. The problem of noise floor with iems is easily fixed with the little ifi dongle. I doubt the sound is better, might be different but not better.
