Burt Bacharach, who has written more than70 "Top 40" hits, continues to perform and write music at age 84. Bacharach speaks to the "CBS This Morning" co-hosts about his life and career, and his new autobiography, "Anyone Who Had a Heart."

Bacharach shouldn't be surprised he's thought of in that league of Porter, Kern, Richard Rogers etc; who wrote the American Songbook. Because he IS in that league

Alfie is my favorite song of all time and Anyone Who Had A Heart is number two. I heard them on am album when I was a little girl.

they have to because the program is 'timed' exactly for where each segment should be. They could have Beethoven up there and they'd cut him off for a cereal commercial. Gotta make a buck Stitcher

Burt is one of the best music composers in American history. However I have a bit of a problem with this show. He cited Alfie as his best because of the lyrics. Burt did not write the lyrics. I am quite surprised that he never mentions Hal David, who was the lyricist for most of Burt's big smash hits, including Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head and too many more to mention! C'mon, Burt! You are great but Hal David wrote " Are we meant to take more than we give?" !

Burt é um dos maiores (se não o maior) compositor que conheço. É uma pessoa extremamente simples e humilde. É óbvio que nunca o faz por maldade. As pessoas insistem em mencionar o letrista sempre , mas se esquecem de que as pessoas gostam mesmo é DA MÚSICA DELE.

I doubt that it was intentional. I think he knew that all the interviewers knew that Hal wrote all the lyrics to his songs

@@spactick any true fan of Burt Bacharach, knows who wrote the words to all his music. It would be like saying, who wrote “I want to hold your hand” “Lennon/McCartney, it’s just automatic

@@johnheinrich6907 Hal David didn't write 'all' the lyrics to his melodies, there were others (don't know their names) but HD was far and away his most prevalent lyricist

Bacharach - great composer, but absolutely no "husband material". If he could become younger, he would have divorced all his wives again. Empty phrases.. but I appreciate his music a lot.

A VIDA DELE FOI SEMPRE A MÚSICA DELE. Não esqueça disso: todos os gênios são assim ele não seria diferente. Cansou de dizer isso: Hal David escrevia a letra (fácil ter inspiração com músicas tão bonitas assim) e simplesmente terminava o serviço dele. Enquanto isso, Bacharach tinha de escrever os arranjos, ensaiar e o tempo de dedicação à música infinitamente maior que o de todos os envolvidos. Compreendeu?????????????
