Great day out there! Just goes to show you that in the middle of winter sometimes that mid-day bite can be the ticket! Some of the battles were pretty acrobatic - jumping everywhere! Tight lines! Captain Zac
Great video as always, I'm definitely jealous that your in striking distance of both the Erie and Ontario tribs! Some big fish come out of lake Ontario! I'm also kinda happy to see the ECO's checking down there. The Seneca's have had the rez on Lock-down lately, but I haven't seen a NY conservation officer in years and every year I see more snagging, chumbing, littering, ect. on the Erie Tribs...
Now that was a fishing trip, Bill. You seem to do really well when the weather is cold and snow icebergs are floating. Congrats again on the beautiful fish! Don
That was a great day, Bill. Where are all the people? Don’t see that place so empty that often. You caught some good ones on the olive jig, that one female was massive. The bite really picked up late in the day. Hard to leave when it’s that good.
No skunkin at the burtt. Finally a good day their. I climbed that hill a time or two. Yep that will drain the energy. How the weather is into next week almost t shirt weather
I'd take it every time. I'll torture myself with frozen hands and won't warm them up until I get the skunk off. Man jigs have been dramatically out fishing my sacs. Considering tying some super small hair jigs. Our home waters are so clear, went from blown out to perfect in 12 hours, then barely any water 2 days later. Sorry for the journal entry, good content as always man
It's good to see the C.O.'s out there keeping people honest. Those guys have a tough job and are hated by a lot, for no reason other than they are doing they're jobs by protecting the resource.
I got done in by the first cast fish curse. Thankfully it was a purple monster, MONSTER on a olive jig i tied. my old man and i took his buddy to our honey hole and it was so low only half was fishable. I moved on after the fish because i thought id ruin the hole it was so small and wanted him to get one. Couldnt find fishable water, came back and dude had 5. Well, 4.5. he got one idk if it was ten inches lol. I need to pour my own jigs. He was killing them on black mini foos and i think it being so clear a jig with almost no material on it was the way to go
I was surprisingly checked by the DEC a couple weeks ago while I was down at Cayuga. I'm fairly sure a certain guy called him on me because I got into a spot where he wanted to fish...must've thought why not just prod a guy and hope he's down there fishing with no license so he's kicked out. I made sure I stayed down there until sun-down after the game warden saw my license on my phone. I probably would've left a couple hours earlier otherwise. I kept pulling fish out so I figured why not stay and get 'em on a variety of baits. At least the dirty Burt is somewhat quiet this time of year. I can't bring myself to fish out there because I equate it with fishing Love Canal. That's just me though. Glad you had a lot of hook-ups...still a successful day when you get that many on, even if you only drag a few to the bank.
Darn good February steel day at the burt. You wny youtubers are a riot. Won't tell anyone where you are on erie tribs but ontario tribs will, lol. Bill, what's your longest steelie ? I got a 39 incher on on Allen in the late 90's. That hen you got was a biggie, don't get 30 or more inchers very often anymore anywhere. Good luck in the future.
@BillMikesAnglingAdventures Bill, did you guys get a lot of rain in the area last night and today? Creeks, especially ontario tribs, sure need a good blow out. Are the creeks high and blown ?
it rained pretty good - creeks near me were high - was driving in rain all the way past syracuse today so i imaging all the ontario tribs got a bump in flow
@BillMikesAnglingAdventures thanks Bill. Was hoping that the creeks were high and blown, you know what I mean, very high and brown. They need more than just a bump in flow. If they're just somewhat higher, that can go away quick with tomorrow's cold. We know when the creeks get blown out this time of year with a warmer rain, when the water comes down and gets green, the chrome is in. Good luck to you.
When it comes to weights, is it bad to use split shots down your leader line to keep the presentation straight? because I have noticed I only seem to get action doing that when the water is very stained
it was tough today - mike got a nice brown and steelhead 1st thing then nothing for the next few hours - looked like a skunking for me but pulled one out of the fire - 2 browns 1 steelhead and a pike down low
