I got these because I generally go out a gate in the resort to access the backcountry, which gives me several resort runs before and after my tour. Since I’m riding step ons otherwise, I’m thinking this will make those lift runs better. So much hate for the step ons- they’re awesome.

Yeah nice, that sounds like a great application for them. They do feel somewhat similar to solid step ons. Hope you love them!

I’m considering for the same reasons you listed. Early morning skins before resort opens…nothing too extreme. How are you liking them?
@suicidesmitty
@suicidesmitty 7 месяцев назад
@@richarddebellis1965yeah, I really like them a lot. So far, what you’ve described is all I’ve been doing. Going on my first actual tour tomorrow. They work as you’d expect. Getting out without the heel locked down is a tiny bit inelegant, and I think future versions will probably improve on the tour/forward lean dial, but I’m really happy to have these- great bit of kit. Highly recommend.

Do these come with mounting hardware when you buy them, or is that sold separately?

Could you take off the highback? Like the low back step on? Then the tour mode would be better right? Stiff boots offer enough support you won’t need a high back. Super surfy as well 💯
@SearchofSnowboarding

It's actually the lower heel lock part of the binding that doesn't allow you to get enough reverse angle in tour mode

It seems that the highback dial mechanism adoptable to regular step on bindings, maybe in next couple seasons?

Just got mine and the wammy bar has to be done by hand which sucks bending over , you can kinda catch it with the ski pole but there isn’t enough hardware to grab onto .

For those willing to walk uphill for 3 hours but are too lazy to bend down for 10 seconds?

I'd say more for those that already have step on boots and are about to buy split board bindings

@@SearchofSnowboarding Yup. I agree. I already have step ons, so this makes perfect sense to me

@@kprugbyplaya if you take off the heel clips on your step on boots, you can use it on regular bindings.

If you choose these bindings. Should you even be in the backcountry? 😂

No less than anyone else with a split board instead of snowshoes
@snipplewiffle
@snipplewiffle 8 месяцев назад
Why not? It's just a binding at the end of the day. There is no major difference, and they are easier to use than regualar bindings.
@rowdypowripper
@rowdypowripper 8 месяцев назад
@@snipplewiffle No there is a huge difference. With Sparks, I can bring extra hardware to fix my binders if they break out in the backcountry. If you break one of these out in the backcountry you are screwed.
@snowairland
@snowairland 8 месяцев назад
@@rowdypowripperhow often do you break a binding?
@jhrycun
@jhrycun 7 месяцев назад
@rowdypowripper Your regular Spark bindings have far more mechanical connection points (the screw on each end of a strap) and moving/active engagement parts (each buckle assembly) to fail than a Step On Split binding. That said, the Step On Split bindings do come with an extra set of Toe Hooks for the mid-mountain replacement you speak of.
