It is an application of the parallelogram mechanism: two rockers (pink and violet parts) and a connecting rod (the blue door).
Input: pink rocker receiving the rotation from gray motor (other kind of motion source is possible).

You have omitted a feature - many of the doors that operate like that also slide vertically in the closed position. So to open, they slide down about an inch (2·5cm) then open. Closing, they slide up the same amount. I guess it is to effect a waterproof door seal at the top.

Quite same construction is used in buses. Only thing - strait bar better to place on the top of the door.
