I'm a bus driver. Once the parked driver has been warned and refuses to move, this is very satisfying. It's unbelievable how stupid and arrogant some people are when dealing with large passenger and other large vehicles. Idiots.

I'm a semi driver. I was told by the NYPD to just hit an illegally parked car when I couldn't make a turn. he gave the car a ticket and had it towed too lol
+Robert Sistrunk. I drove for a company out of NW Wisconsin in 1996 & was in Brooklyn, trying to make a right turn from the BQE & there was a double-parked Honda I couldn't turn wide enough to clear. NYPD shows up & tells me to "go ahead". My trl tandems (53') were almost touching the left rear corner of the Honda. The cop told me to keep going, but I was afraid of getting cited for hitting the car. He kept waving me ahead and when I touched the Honda, he said "keep coming, driver!". End of story, I smashed the whole left rear corner of that Honda & he said "Have a good day, driver". I drove down to the Sysco warehouse & last I saw of the cop was he was writing a parking ticket on the Honda. :-)

Could the bus drive on the sidewalk? Or is it too heavy or the bus might damage its tires? I heard that BMW stands for Big Money Wasted or Bring Money With, so an improperly parked Beamer, was just asking for something like that to happen? BTW, I am not so sure that a cop saying it is okay, makes it okay. Shouldn't there be some greater level of proof?
To run up the sidewalk runs the risk of hitting a pedestrian, at least thats what they taught us in canada and running on the sidewalk is an instant fail on the class 1 road test.
On the surface, the video makes the BMW driver out to be an ass. But we have no idea why he was parked there in the first place. Was it an emergency situation? Had he just arrived? Was he about to leave? Seems to me, the bus driver became a bit too impatient. The Company will pay for the damages to the car. Mr. Beemer will receive a citation for being double parked. Ralph Kramden will receive a citation as well, at the very least. He drove up on a pedestrian walkway, failed to stop when another vehicle was in his path before him, etc.
In NYC, where this takes place, you should only double park on two-lane alleys to move for the street sweeper then move your car back immediately. Plus, you have to either sit in the car or leave a note.

+tenchu141 illegally parking is one issue, but causing damage to the vehicle is a completely different issue, even though it is illegally parked. The system doesn't always work the way we think it should. Not entirely sure who's going to win this, but some sort of investigation will be done, if the bmw douche files a claim or tries to sue. Now if it were an emergency vehicle, like a Fire Engine, or Police Vehicle that needed to get through and this douche blocked them, then that's a different story.
tenchu141 It all comes down to the investigation to decide who's at fault. In this case, I don't know if it's clear cut to decide without further investigation. Like, although the BMW may be illegally parked, could the Bus driver have waited for the BMW to move before proceeding? If the BMW doesn't move, what is the Public Transportation Policy? The Bus driver could still be at fault for potentially endangering the passengers, for trying to navigate through a hazardous situation. And then the BMW driver could still receive a citation for illegal parking. So both of them could be in trouble.
It shouldn't piss you off. Since the BMW was at fault all reporting the bus/claiming it would do is give the company all the information they need to counter-claim for damaging the side of the bus.
That was the bmw owner. He was inside the car then stepped out and tried to guide the bus. He could've used all that energy or less, to simply move his friggin car but nah.. Insufficient IQ

at 0:36 the brake lights come on, driver's in the car, why the **** doesn't he just pull it a little forward and towards the left to let the bus through. Or take a quick lap of the block and come back for whatever "darling" he's waiting to collect after they buy new shoes or whatever
I don't know what the rules are, but it should be if you are parked illegally then you are automatically at fault when it comes to any insurance claims. The bus can't wait around all day for some dumbass in a BMW. Don't want to get hit by the bus, then don't park illegally. Can't find somewhere to park ? Then use the subway !
That's not how it is in NY state. The bus will be at fault with the BMW driver being at partial fault. It is ridiculous I don't agree but that's how they would view it.

But the driver was in the car so he could’ve moved it, he was double parked which is illegal and he knew it was illegal, the bus wasn’t speeding, in fact the bus stopped to give him time to move. I don’t think any jury on the planet would claim the bus was responsible.
deicide not really. The law was actually changed because a guy speeding down the road hit a woman waiting to pull into a parking spot with her hazards on. The judge decided that the speeding asshole was the one who was responsible not the lady who was technically illegally parked waiting for an open spot with her hazard lights on.

I used to drive a coach in Manhattan, I had to squeeze through double parked cars just like that on a daily basis. Unfortunately never hit anything, wish I did.

I don't say I don't see other kind of vehicle doing this, they do, but I rarely see it, that's all. If I had a back cam, you would see what I am talking about and you would be pulling your hair.
As those think they can have a luxury sedan when the owner of the beemer think they would be entitled to some form of compensation of having a mirror being clipped by a passenger bus as its driver was forced to go on the sidewalk to get around the luxury sedan which was double parked.
I didn't even notice he was black. I ended up with a broken rib trying to squeeze past in a blocked road situation like that. He did not necessarily know it had been recorded by the car's dash cam. He may have intended to represent the events in a way more favorable to himself.
That reminded me of when I drove tractor trailer about 25 years ago a Mercedes Benz did the same thing in San Francisco CA. I waited till the police told me to go on through any damage to his car is his fault for parking like that. I cleared most everything his bumper followed me for half a block. yes my trailer ripped his bumper clean off. When I saw the bus do that. it was poetic justice.

Once long ago I had. A BMW driver block the road and tell me. His 40k Beemer waa worth more then my truck (truck driver here. Was a new 2011 at the time) I laugh. He thought I was kidding when I told him my tractor was 140k new.

But in This case you don’t have a prayer in court of winning. I ran over a parked car in NYC with my 40 TON tractor Trailer. The cop told me to “Go! Or I’ll Sight you for blocking traffic!” So! I drove on! After flattening the Illegally parked car I looked in my side view mirror and saw the cop with his shoe up on the mangled heap, writing it a ticket. This was almost 20 years ago, but the rule still applies; Park “Illegally” and you have no legal recourse. Period! Have a nice day! 🙂

Another thing is that he had about a foot more he could have moved over. I know if I saw that big ass bus coming and I was in my BMW, I'd be going around the block. Of course, I have never double parked in my entire life. I don't believe in it.
I'm a truck driver that delivers regularly in NYC. The law there is if a car is illegally parked it is 100% the illegal parked cars fault for any snd all damages. I was delivering in Queens one day when I damaged the bumper on a car that was parked in a delivery zone while I was making a left. Dude insisted we wait for NYPD. Hour later they told me to go and wrote him a parking ticket.
Most cars today, the mirror folds to prevent such damage. The mirrors on my cheap Chrysler fold forward and back, and this saved me a repair once when some impatient asshat drove on the shoulder to pass me and make a right on red while I was stopped at a red light.
Wife: "Oh look there is a bus coming dear" Driver: "OK I will press this button and turn the mirrors in" Bus driver: " Don't park like a wanker but thanks for making my life easier" Nah that is all too easy for Bimmer drivers. And anyway parking like that would be called 'Obstruction' in the UK and he would get moved on and ticketed. And trust me London Buses would not let a small matter of a BMW get in their way. This bus driver was far too careful ....

I was driving delivery in Sacramento with a 24 foot truck, a Highway patrolman gave me a warning for taking to long to change lanes, I was told to put on my signal, count to three then start over, he said it was the cars responsibility to merge and if I hit them they would get the ticket. When your in a big truck it works too.
+spdzodzo The camera is probably mounted upside down. Since it puts the timestamp at the top of the image, when you invert the image (to get it right side up) the timestamp ends up being upside down.
I have been a NYC driver for over 10 years and if you are illegally double parked and have left your vehicle you are getting a sweet kiss from my car if I don't fit to go through.
