Haven't heard an actual, analogue bus bell since the nineties!! Used to be one of my favorite sounds. The old fishbowls with the pullcord system-- then that analogue sign backed by a set of flickering, half burnt bulbs would blink to mellow red or green life in it's faded blue steel socket up at the front of the bus. I heard it was one of the tones of chimes they used to put in the old pinball machines.
The bells you hear in this video are from Fairfax bodied buses, built from 1998-2001. Fairfax stopped building buses after 2001, and now only build truck bodies.
In America and Canada the indicator reads "Stop Requested" and typically uses a short beep, but some models uses a ding-dong chime or mechanical bell (some old Van Hools). Most buses use pull chords and sometimes buttons or push strips depending on the transit agency.
Nice compilation! I have one of those old BMAC signs like the one at 0:20 at home! Looks great in the dark and I do have an old button wired up but no bell🤔
Probably the Fairfax one at the start, since it's an actual physical bell, not just a recorded sound effect. Sadly those buses were retired in July 2018.
