And yet, the transit system still sucks. I've been taking the bus here and there after quite a long break from it (mostly because gas is so expensive right now.) It's a 12 minute drive, as the crow flies, from my house to my work. It takes AN HOUR by bus, and that's contingent on the three busses I need to take all connecting, which fails to happen with surprising regularity.
Yes, Dartmouth is in HRM as is Halifax, but Dartmouth is not in Halifax. The bus as seen in the video is on a Dartmouth street. Wouldn't it just be easier to say 'the majestic wilds of Dartmouth' instead of confusing the issue and insulting the good people of Dartmouth by saying 'the majestic wilds of H/\LIF/\X'? The H/\LIF/\X logo was supposedly designed to market the whole of Halifax Regional Municipality globally and NOT to give our Region a new nickname locally.
Halifax (former city of) is a great place, and Dartmouth is equally great and a very separate and unique community from Halifax. H/\LIF/\X (pronounced 'Halifax') the Region gets confused with Halifax the community. They are not one and the same either. Citizens of HRM and folks from away are confused by the duplicity. I am a proud Dartmouthian and if I wanted to be a Haligonian I'd move across the harbour. Dartmouth is being bullied; we did not have a say. What was proposed for international marketing turned out to be quite different ... a bloodless coup if you will. People identify who they are by many factors, including place, culture, heritage and community. Dartmouth has it's own identity from Halifax and it's people, for the most part, are proud of that identity and what we built. We do not want to assimilate and do not want assimilation forced upon us. Obviously that is not an issue for you personally, and that is your choice. Thousands of Dartmouthians do not feel as you do. As for getting over it??? Not gonna happen.
I am still puzzled as to the where about`s Crichton Avenue is in Halifax,to my knowledge it is and has always been in Dartmouth .Don`t you think it is time we stopped agreeing with Savage and got back to real common sense. This is Dartmouth. We never hear them say the town clock in Dartmouth or the Dartmouth forum so why not call Dartmouth what it is Dartmouth.
Wow! Great use of public funds! You could have accomplished the same result with a PowerPoint type ad. Not to mention if people have the app you can notify people within the app. If you don't have the app, this ad is of no purpose. Oh ...and your target audience is going to be riding on your product and standing in your bus shelters looking at ad space. SMH
