Busch Gardens Railway at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in Williamsburg, VA.
Opening with the park in 1975, this steam-train ride was built by Crown Metal Products. Three engines are in service. #238 Der Hochbeinige, built in 1974, is German-themed based on the Prussian state railways. #661 Balmoral Castle, built in 1974, is Scottish-themed based on the Caledonian Railway Company. #17 Alpen Express, built in 1972, is alpine-themed. The later engine first ran at Lakeside Amusement Park in Salem, VA with an American wild west aesthetic. The park closed in 1986 and Busch Gardens Williamsburg acquired the engine and carriages in 1997. Busch Gardens Railway's course is 1.5 miles long circling the entire park and acting as transportation with 3 stations in Scotland, Fiesta Italia, and New France themed areas of the park. NAPHA features Busch Gardens Williamsburg for continuous upkeep and operation of its narrow-gauge steam-trains.
