I also have a Bushbuddy, Made by Fritz. You mentioned using a Trangia as a backup. Lay the lid of the Trangia upside down in the bottom and put the Trangia burner on top of it. You will get Phenomenal boil times. I have also fashioned a 50 mm wide thin sheet of brass that fits exactly on top of the collar of the wind screen for Esbit tabs. The sides of it are bent up 5 mm for stability. I get a 6 1/4 min boil time for 400ml water with 1 Esbit 14 gram tablet using the brass plate. The bushbuddy is my go to stove.
The science behind these gasifier stoves is quite unique. Ultimately not much smoke if any. Burns hot and leaves you with a clean stove. I have witnessed several solo stoves and it makes sense for this to be a part of your kit. Especially at 6oz. Enjoyed the video Craig!
Thanks ! Much appreciated. I have all kinds of twig stoves, I like to have options ! Like I said I have had my eyes on this stove for literally years. So glad I finally got one. I have been really enjoying it. Cheers
Hey Craig,,,, Great Video,,, Iam about 2 months away from getting my Bush Buddy in the mail. 2 quick thoughts,,, 1) I definitely agree concerning copycat’s,,,, I like to Honor the Original. 2) that being said,,, Solo stove has taken the BB design and “Honestly “, brought it to the next level. If you look at their lineup and accessories,,; I honestly don’t think BB would of taken the design to that level of creativity. All in all,,, I’ll always appreciate and hold my Bush Buddy in a special place. Great Review,,, Joshua
Thanks, I definitely looked at the solo stove lineup. Yes, they have broadened the concept a lot. But personally, I don’t have a need. Like you, I feel good supporting BB ! And,it’s a great little stove ! I’m happy for you, you are really going to enjoy ! Thanks for stopping by man !
Craig, I have a Bush Buddy too and I love it. I got mine several years ago and I remember a 6 +/- month wait time. Well worth the wait and my contact person at Bush Buddy was great! I carry mine in one of my original Mors pots. Just a suggestion: I fill the void between pot and stove with a bunch of coffee filters. Coffee filters are great because they’re multi purpose… Fire starter Plate Napkin Pot holder Lense cleaner (Camera or glasses) T.P. And they’re biodegradable Thanks for another great video PS my friend Mikhail is the man behind the Emberlit Stove and the foreign copies of his stove devastated his business
Thanks, so far loving this stove ! I have a passion for twig stoves ! I like the coffee filter hack ! Great idea ! I have an Emberlit Stove as well, great Stove, works so good. Your right, there are a lot of cheap knockoffs ! Really sucks, I hate when people buy the Knock offs, just to save a buck. Hopefully you’re buddy will survive. Thanks for sharing !
That looks like a cool little stove, interesting how it works. I also like the idea of the chili on a wrap, I'll have to try that sometime. Thanks for sharing , cheers!
Pretty boil, good stove, was on my radar for awhile but I really like the Fire box stove Nano for day hikes . I have my own homemade gasifier that looks similar in size and in performance. Beautiful day out, thanks for sharing. 🙂
Now that's one sweet lookin' stove there man! 👍 I'm still using my beat up ol' DIY wood gas one made out of cans, lol. Does the job though. Just isn't anywhere remotely close to the quality and looks of that Bushbuddy! Gotta love the efficiency of the wood gas design, eh. Peace brother... ✌
