This video brought to mind an interesting story. Back in the day, I lived in an apartment on the Lower East Side in New York City with no air conditioning. One particularly hot and humid evening I took a walk down to the Williamsburg Bridge, which usually got a nice breeze coming up the East River. On my way back down from the middle of the bridge I was stopped by a young man who asked if I had a pen or pencil. I replied that I did not and kept walking, but the guy's question nagged at me. Why in the world would someone need a pen or pencil on the Williamsburg Bridge? Then the light bulb went off; stopped and looked back up to the midpoint of the bridge, and sure enough the guy was climbing up the structure. Stopped a bicyclist who was on his way down and told him to get the attention of the police officer down at the bottom of the bridge and let them know that there was a jumper. AFAIK they got the guy down off of the bridge safely. So- you never know when somebody asks for a pen or a piece of paper in a really weird spot; they may actually be contemplating suicide.

Have you thought about adding a dump pouch? Their great to have when hiking around or enroute. I keep an alligator bag in it for when I find some pine sap or tinder while moving around. Or just for putting stuff in and not my pockets when moving around.

I put together a belt kit using the us military belt, mine is the older style. I use the Alice ammo pouches for gear. I have a dump pouch for collecting fat wood or more gear, a fixed blade knife , gloves, canteen, works great.

I have been using an LC2 and Y-harness set up for years now mixed with ALICE and Maxpedition MOLLE pouches. It has evolved heavily but the constant has been the field pack as my haversack, compass pouch with camenga compass and at least one GI 30 round mag pouch.

I do a lot of hiking/walking for "time" so I try to maintain a fast pace (for me, LOL). I've gotten away from Man Purses and now just use pistol belts. I have a rule that says "no more than five pounds" hanging off any single shoulder . . . and four is better." So a two-quart canteen is about the heaviest thing I'll carry on a sling. What I've learned to do, however, is to tape things to the sling, so that my sling becomes an actual "equipment carrier" besides holding on to my two-quart canteen. I have a small fire kit, a triangular bandage and an emergency blanket (pocket-size) taped to the back part of the sling, right above where it hooks to the canteen cover. I have a Mora taped to the front. I also have about 6-7 feet of tape taped around the sling and I have cordage wrapped around it too, right above the knife. None of that weighs very much and since I rarely use it, it's just out of the way for emergency. I carry two pouches on the belt. One is the ALICE First Aid pouch and I put my flip-top cell phone in there. The other is a SAW Pouch and it holds a pair of glasses, extra contact lens, toilet paper, hand cleaner, compass, small notebook and pen. It's so light that I'm finding the Pistol Belt is overkill. So I've been using a 1" web belt, (same as we used to hold up BDUs). I think it cost under a dollar a foot and a small buckle was cheap too. One trick that you can do with a small belt and buckle like this is use it to slow down bleeding. You can also cinch it around a bundle of sticks. Since you carry a pistol, the 1" belt won't work for you but for those who don't carry anything heavy on their belt it works great. Final comment. When I carry a lot of crap (like say for a 10-12 mile hike in the mountains) I slide a MOLLE Waist Pouch on the Pistol Belt. It's a tight fit to slide the Belt through the slot in the back but it works. (The Waist Pack comes with its own belt but I've cut that off.) The Waist Pack holds 396 cu in or over 6 Liters. Plus you can attach a poncho to the outside. I slide it around so it's in the small of my back. If I need more support for the belt, I use a set of Work Suspenders that I got a Lowe's for around 12 bucks. They're a lot lighter and cooler than ALICE LBE. Cheers
@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival
Thanks! Awesome suggestions...

those One-Tigris holsters are pretty good for an airsoft style. Not expensive and they look like they'll hold up for a while. Surely better than no holster. And they adjust for different size pistols.

My kit On my key ring I have a small torch, a small Swiss army knife and a tiny pouch with a length of bricklayer string, spare batteries and a few dollars. In my pouch - Basic first aid kit - a bandage, band aids, alcohol swab and an eye bath. A gps personal locator Multi tool. An energy bar. Toilet paper Matches and ferro rod. Plastic poncho. Or large garbage bag. Water bottle. We can't carry pistols. Spare car key. Small wind up torch. Some duct tape. More cord. Tampons as tinder. All up it is about the same size as yours. True story. In the Borneo conflict in the 1960s a squad of Aussies went out to do a morning scan of the area about 200 yards out from their company bivouac. They only took weapons, not even their webbing. They got lost and had to walk back to the main base camp. It took them a couple of days with no water or food. A very hard way to learn a lesson. 200 yards can be a long way in thick bush. It's not far they thought.

Nice video. Just my opinion, but I might substitute the match box with a lighter (with some duct tape around it (since duct tape can be used for almost everything, from first aid to starting a fire etc.) I feel like having a lighter as opposed to extra matches would be helpful. Not sure what kind of matches those are, but I tried using those regular cheap matches on the mountain and they were useless for me cause it was windy and they kept blowing out in a second. I like the stormproof matches (waterproof & wind proof) or the survival matches that UCO makes. I might add a button compass as backup navigation to your normal compass since navigation is so important (to replace the one that fell off the Walmart one you mentioned haha). I might also add some water purifying tablets and a mylar blanket to use for an improvised shelter or as an emergency blanket. Thanks for the video, hope to see more!

The main draw back of the ALCE belt is that it's not easy to adjust the length...Possibly not an issue in sunny Florida but if you need to wear a lot heavier clothes in winter, it can be an issue.. Might I also suggest you look at an M9 military surplus flap holster....The flap will provide extra protection to your pistol but it is still relatively quick/easy to get to your pistol..A small windproof Bic style lighter would not go a miss either...
@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival
True, I usually set my belt and forget it. I have an M( holster on my other rig and love it, best holster out there

Looks like a good Belt Kit. I'm going to recomend some changes as I'm sure everyone else will. Replace the WalMart Magnesium Bar with a Doans Bar. They work a whole lot better. (Add a Fire Steel.) Add another small Pouch and turn it into a Trauma or Stop the Bleed Kit. The smallish Alice Bandage, an Israeli Bandage, Quick Clot, and at least one Tourniquet.

The thing with marking stash details down is if it's stolen/lost someone else can ghost your gear. I mark a spot say a bridge or other identifiable feature on the map/notes. Anyone can go there and waste time digging wherever but I know that the bridge is X paces from that wierd tree and from the wierd tree I can see the stashpoint. Maybe o.t.t. for some but having lost kit to unknown parties before if I have to stash kit, I stash it and the location details too 👍
