I tried my hand at making the fishing pole clay did on alone, watched the video he made here on RU-vid and I learned first hand he makes it look a lot easier then it actually is 😂😭

You can't carry everything, though, and a bow-saw blade weighs nothing compared to a folder, etc. In reality, this may be a woodsmanship video really, but you CAN prepare for survival situations. You survive in the wilds with what you brought with you, not what you left back a the truck.

@@stephenballard3759 in what way can you prepare for a survival situation because i can think of only very few scenarios were thats possible one is getting lost backpacking in which case you have a bag sleeping qequipment a knife multitool food. which is a very good case scenario and needs no prepping really depending on your location as long as you have prepped for a backpacking trip. Second option i can think of is plane crash in which case the prep is understanding how to signal search and rescue nobody is carrying a saw blade without a handle in either of those scenarios. If you can think of one where you can prep ahead of time and its reasonable to do so than i applaud you

@Yakir Frankoveig This is absolute nonsense, completely. This is pure keyboard warrior crap, and I'll give you just two examples. Say you're stuck in a car in a snow drift in a bad winter storm for two nights, for whatever reason. If there is a blanket in the car, your chances of living and not losing toes, are much greater than if there is not a blanket in the car. That is a very COMMON and real survival situation, where being prepared, by having a blanket in the car, is possible. Second scenario. Many. many times (many times) I have personally been caught in hailstorms or snowstorms while hunting or fishing in the Rocky Mountains or Coastal Alaska, and had to hole up for several hours. Three times, I have had to spend a night in dangerous weather conditions. Now, I was not PREPARED to spend the night, inasmuch as I didn't have a tent, sleepong bag, and food with me. But, I did have some gear I had NOT planned on using that day, but was carrying in a day pack, just in case. This included a jacket or poncho, firestarting stuff, a flashlight, a knife, and a small saw. That turns a potentially deadly SURVIVAL situation into a slightly uncomfortable night. I don't know how much Naked and Afraid you've been watching, Because, whilel it is possible to get stuck with nothing but what you KNOW. that is not how most survival situations go. What Clay did here was show that you don't have to carry a full-sized saw, you can carry a saw blade and a bit of cordage or wire, which is smaller and weighs less, so it is worth carrying all those times you don't need it, so you will have it when you do need it. Preparedness can be mental, but there is no reason at all it can't include gear AND knowledge. That's silly. BTW, I have "known" Clay for over 20 years. We have chatted hundreds of hours on forums for bowmaking and trad archery, primitive skills, woodsmanship, camping, etc. "Correcting" him on something like this is like telling a surgeon how to operate since you got an A in 9th grade Health class.

I don’t usually carry a sheath knife. Just a leatherman. So I tend to use what I have and figure out how to make it work.

This is just an inexpensive one I picked up from the hardware store. I don’t recall the manufacturer.
